Yeah… the perception of it by others is even worse than the limited diet imo.

“What do you even eat? How are you still alive? No wonder you’re so skinny! (That one is actually rude as fuck) I did a diet like that once! I thought it was only found in kids?”

At least if someone says “I’d kill myself” (in the context of living like this) I just respond “I think of it” and that always ends it lmfao.

Ugh. The amount of times I’d hear “I’d kill myself if I were you” .. even ppl on dating apps have said that to me. The skinny things bugs me too. Like trust me if it were up to me I’d eat EVERYTHING

Omg, the dating apps! Yeah, so I’m queer, so my dating pool already is small. Couple that with chronic illness and a ton of food allergies, it makes dating an absolute nightmare.

A woman that dated one of my exes liked me on Hinge a while back. She was really attractive, but some things in her profile made me press pause. The worst part was when she said something along the lines of how picky eaters are the worst!

That alone is a non-starter for me. I wouldn’t ever choose to have such a restrictive diet. I haven’t been to a sit down restaurant in 1.5 years & I don’t trust other folks to cook my meals, smdh.

Soy also. We were on a trip in a very small, small village last Sunday. Only two places both bars. Got a burger and paid the price. I sympathize with you. I have thought about bringing my own bun, but so many use soybean oil.

Every burger place is using grill grease or pam spray. I wouldn’t even risk the patty alone.

They had salads but they were just head lettuce as the main food. Can't eat the bread for a sandwich, might have soy. Mayo has it. This was in a place that was like the movie Deliverance.

I’ve heard that for the burgers they don’t add salt if it is for a dog. Maybe that’s why they asked? To make sure they did or didn’t add salt?

Perhaps

I've been asked the same thing before 😅 I didn't find it dehumanizing personally, maybe because I've had much worse interactions with my allergy. They might have wanted to offer a pup cup, or just make sure it didnt touch onions, etc.

Tbh I think they just caught me on a particularly rough day. Maybe I was reading into it

Oh I get it! I can't eat out 99% of places and sometimes I'm just like whatever and then some (a lot) of days it's really hard and every one bugs me.

I have that kind of allergy and honestly when I’ve explained, I’ve usually been treated with kindness.

I also have a soy allergy, I have given up on eating out except for like three places only. It's too prevalent of an ingredient in these restaurants :(

Wow, in the UK you could have gotten a burger anywhere!

It’s very possible fast food meats could have soy added to them as well. I have a soy allergy (that I realized as an adult) and used to eat Taco Bell all the time as a teenager and was very confused as to why I would get a migraine after eating it. It was in their “meat”. So, you have to be careful with meat as well, sorry to say. I am also a celiac with a nightshade allergy, so believe me, I feel your pain with going out to eat.

Some gluten free bread is soy free. Not all. But I’d go to like a Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s and see! Bread less burgers suck.

This is me. I'm not allergic to soy oil but I can't do toppings so I just ordered the meat from McDonald's lol.
