We are all supposed to believe this was some grand assault on Christianity instead of what it actually was. Samantha Fulnecky turned in a bad paper. A spectacularly bad paper. The kind of paper that makes you wonder if she accidentally uploaded her middle school essay folder instead of a college assignment. She ignored the prompt, ignored the source material, ignored the rubric, and then expected the Bible to do the homework for her. Shockingly, it did not.
One instructor failed it. A second instructor reviewed it and also failed it. When two different graders give you the same score of zero, that is not persecution. That is peer review.
But by all means, keep pretending this is about religion and not the fact that Samantha submitted a paper that wouldn’t pass in ninth grade. If quoting scripture counted as academic rigor, we would all have graduate degrees by now.

It’s pathetic that a student got a zero on her work because the instructor has a different opinion. Students should be able to express themselves on a college campus and be judged on how well they performed, not based on whether one likes what the student has to say.
