‼️‼️‼️ Professor. I'm a PhD mathematician, a postdoc who gave up pursuing professorship due to personal reasons. You're wrong about math being about memorizing. It's actually completely the opposite. Since I started doing maths, I started to forget everything and need to write everything down. Because I've learned to recall information via little clues, instead of remembering everything. Mathematics DOES teach you reasoning. But not the reasoning that you're used to. You're used to reason "from front to back". Mathematics reasons "from back to front", mostly (there's rare exceptions where the other way round is needed). I remember when I started doing math how my brain was literally rewired to reason "backward". In logics that is taught in philosophy, however, the reasoning is the the "proper way round". Anyway. I can 100% guarantee you that real math is definitely about reasoning. It may be a different form of reasoning that people are not used to. But it is definitely and 100% a form of reasoning. Math is NOT about formulas. Math is about patterns. And yes, mathematical intuition is based on "images"/ strong imagination. If a mathematician can't imagine the structures they work with as "pictures", they imho will not be able to finish their PhD. Btw - no, mathematicians are not stupid. They are as stupid as predictive history people. There are some stupid and some intelligent. Mathematics is not satanic 🙄 it's a tool. You can use it for good, you can use it for bad. But mostly it's so abstract that you can use it only thousands of years later 😉

Great lecture - just a little factcheck: Constantine did not make Christianity the official religion of Rome - he only 'decriminalised' it, so to speak, and stopping the persecution. It was Theodosius later in 381CE who made it the official religion.
