Welcome to /his/ - History & Humanities: This board is dedicated to the discussion of history and the other humanities such as philosophy, religion, law, classical artwork, archeology, anthropology, ancient languages, etc. Please use /lit/ for discussions of literature. Threads should be about specific topics, and the creation of "general" threads is discouraged. For the purpose of determining what is history, please do not start threads about events taking place less than 25 years ago. Historical discussions should be focused on past events, and not their contemporary consequences. Discussion of modern politics, current events, popular culture, or other non-historical topics should be posted elsewhere. General discussions about international culture should go on /int/. /his/ is not /pol/, and Global Rule #3 is in effect. Do not try to treat this board as /pol/ with dates. Blatant racism and trolling will not be tolerated, and a high level of discourse is expected. History can be examined from many different conflicting viewpoints; please treat other posters with respect and address the content of their post instead of attacking their character. When discussing history, please reference credible source material, and provide as much supporting information as possible in your posts.

It's all so tiresome.: The USA will end up with massive inflation, maybe even hyperinflation over the next few years due to central banking, endless money printing and endless government spending/debt. The US dollar's status as world reserve currency will end. and it will be blamed on "capitalism", because 99% of the country are economically illiterate retards, and people will demand more government intervention, MORE central bank money printing and more socialism as the "cure" Everyone is going to become a LOT poorer. How do you feel about this?

It's funny how these Christians always appeal to an abstract Platonic-Aristotelian god when the YHWH of the Bible is clearly an old man who came from a mountain and sits on the clouds (Mark 16:19). He is a concrete man who molded a clay figure in a magical garden and breathed life into it as if it were Pinocchio, who shared a meal with Abraham, who got angry because his soldiers were defecating inside the military camp, who was defeated by the enemy god because his soldiers had chariots. He is, literally, an anthropomorphic god of antiquity. It's not a Platonic idea during 90% of the Bible. He only assumes this more abstract Platonic-Aristotelian character from the Gospel of John onwards.

>Warns nazis they were schizoing and will get stomped >Gets banned >Nazis get stomped in nearly 10 years, as predicted Was he right about race? He wasn't talking about accepting browns as equals, Spengler hated the idea of internationalism, but he pointed out in The Hour of Decision how colored people were already back during early 20th century replacing whites due being cheaper and more numerous, also he noticed thirdies were capable to generate competent enough elites (Mustafa Kemal and Deng Xiaoping come to mind), he also warned lefties would eventually join forces with browns to undermine western civilization. Instead he called for solidarity among whites, a sense of common destiny and shrewd bismark-like politics rather than brute force to achieve great goals. He also considered any biological-non white educated as a faustian was a good element, but that should be on an individual basis and not the madness of importing thousands of non-faustian coloured people.

Sinauli: Two-wheeled, copper-clad ritual vehicles were buried with the elite men and women, but of course... no samples of these people. Right, apparently, Sinauli burials are probably associated with the broader Ochre Colored Pottery culture and the Copper Hoard culture. It’s likely there was a settlement nearby which is yet to be firmly located or excavated, and when it comes to radiocarbon dating, things get messy.... I haven't found any serious study with scientific methodology on dating, there are Indian articles claiming data as crazy as 4000 BC. Does anyone really know the date of this site? And if possible, non-Indian sources??

Religiously speaking, why shouldn’t I commit suicide if it eases my pain and ends my suffering. If i think if it’s the best choice I have then my religion should support it. If I feel bad about my condition then it should be ok to go sit outside in snowstorm. Any God who is against ending suffering isn’t really worth worshipping.

The Pagan Trilemma: How do pagans and neo-pagans answer the problem of the triumph of Abrahamic religions over paganism? Option 1: The pagans were defeated because their gods don't exist. Option 2: The pagans were defeated because the Abrahamic God is more powerful than the pagan gods. Option 3: The pagans were defeated even though their gods were real and could have helped them but simply chose not to do so and they didn't care that their worshippers were being persecuted, slaughtered and forcibly converted to serve another God, their temples were being destroyed and/or reconverted to temples for the Abrahamic God, their oracles were silenced and their myths suppressed. I see no way in which the pagans end up looking good. Thoughts?

CS Lewis' Argument from Desire: Furries refute CS Lewis' argument from desire. If all human desires map to real things, and therefore desire for God or something transcendent is proof of that God being real too, then why do people lust after anthropomorphic creatures which do not exist?
R: 23 / I: 3
Christianity and Islam are fundamentally anti-human as they have the audacity to claim that natural human instincts and traditions are “sins.” There is no heaven or hell, all that matters is this life, we simply cease to exist after death. The Epic of Gilgamesh while pagan at least acknowledged that this life is temporary and should be enjoyed as much as possible. Unlike Christianity and Islam which falsely claim this world is full of “sin.”

I'm white as shit and have never even been to Latin America but I've found that I am now completely, unhealthily obsessed with ancient Mesoamerica. Some aspect of ancient Mesoamerica is on my mind 24 hours a day. I think about ancient Mesoamerica in the shower. When I go to bed I dream about ancient Mesoamerica. When I'm shopping for food I think about what ancient Mesoamericans ate, when I'm shopping for clothes I think about what ancient Mesoamericans wore, I put on ancient Mesoamerica themed music while reading about it and found myself enjoying it so much I couldn't focus on my book. I had sleep paralysis and instead of normal scary shadow figures I just saw ancient Mesoamerican art everywhere. I'm losing my mind.

Christianity is the greatest religion ever conceived: Greek/Roman/Norse religions >glorified delusional Andrew Tate self help guru religions Hinduism >doesn’t ask anything of its followers but ridiculous and destructive rituals Buddhism >religion for people who want to die but are too scared to kill themselves Islam >ridiculous and inflexible rules make it impossible for sustaining itself outside 7th century Arabia so it attaches itself as a parasite on more successful civilizations Judaism >exactly like Islam but impossible to join (which might make it better or worse depending on your perspective) Atheism Promotes nihilism that inevitably destroys civilization I’ve tried to find glaring flaws in Christianity like these other religions but it’s simply impossible. Nineteen fifties bad boy Barton Kirkham was hanged by Utah in 1958 for fatally shooting two Salt Lake City store clerks in a robbery two years earlier. Kirkham's crime was less noteworthy than his choice of being executed by hanging, which the state had not done since the previous century. He was born in Salt Lake City on November 29, 1936 to a "very traditional" Mormon family and had four younger siblings. Taken in by the youth culture of the '50s, he rebelled against his strict upbringing and was an avid jazz enthusiast. Kirkham left school at 17 and enlisted in the Air Force, but while stationed in Colorado he went AWOL and committed a robbery in Denver. He was given a dishonorable discharge; as he was younger than 21, he was put in a youth reformatory rather than an adult jail and stayed there from October 1955 to July 1956. On the evening of August 12, a mere month after his release, Kirkham walked into Nibley Park Market Grocery Store in Salt Lake City, pulled a gun, and ordered the store owner, David Frame, age 50, to hand over all the money he had. Frame complied and began to give him the contents of the cash register, but Kirkham thought he was cheating him and not giving him all of the money in the store. He ordered Frame to go into the back room where he also found a store employee, 38 year old Ruth Webster, a mother of four children. Kirkham told them to both kneel. He shot them execution-style in the back of the head and made off with $54 (over $640 in 2024 dollars). Kirkham was caught the next morning after he carjacked a brother and sister and forced them at gunpoint to take him on a joyride through Provo Canyon.

Christians deserved to be persecuted by the Romans: Christians weren’t innocent, they had literally been vandalizing statues and temples because according to Christians those statues and temples were “evil and satanic.” This wasn’t a few crazies, nearly all Christians including every Church Father supported these actions and justified them with the Christian faith. Is it really any wonder the Romans got fed up with their bullshit and decided to do something about it? If anything the Romans didn’t go far enough since they never actually officially outlawed Christianity like they did with Manichaeism (another faith that deserved to be eradicated for its similar iconoclastic views). Ancient Christian iconoclasm was cultural terrorism akin to the Taliban destroying statues of Buddha in Afghanistan or ISIS smashing ancient artifacts.

Account of the Jingkang Atrocity and the "Two-Legged Sheep": At the beginning of the Tang Dynasty, the rebel general Zhu Can (朱粲) used human flesh as provisions, establishing the 'Pounding and Grinding Stronghold' (搗磨寨). He famously stated: "Eating human flesh when drunk is like eating pork preserved in wine." Whenever one reads the old histories and encounters this account, one cannot help but feel sorrow and lament. Yet, starting from the year Bǐng Wǔ of the Jìngkāng era (靖康丙午, 1126)—the year the Jìngkāng Incident occurred, leading to the collapse of the Northern Song Dynasty—the Jurchen Jin forces caused turmoil across the land of Huá Xià (China). For six or seven consecutive years, regions like Shandong, Jīng Xī, Huái Nán, and others became choked with thorns and brambles, stretching thousands of miles into desolation. A single dǒu (measure) of rice soared in price to tens of thousands of coins, and even then could not be purchased. Robbers, official troops, and even common civilians began to eat each other in turn. The price of human flesh became cheaper than that of dog or pork; a strong, healthy person would not fetch more than fifteen thousand coins. Entire bodies were dried and made into cured meat (腊肉). Fan Wen, leading loyal followers from Dēng Zhōu, sailed to Qián Táng in the Guǐ Chǒu year of the Shàoxīng era (绍兴癸丑, 1133). Even upon arriving at the imperial temporary residence (where the Southern Song court was in exile), there were still people carrying human flesh with them to consume.

Religion has no answer for this: The last time humanity was in its natural state was ancient Rome. The good was that which was strong (nobles), the bad was that which was weak (plebs). Slaves were a natural class of society because they were incapable of governing themselves and too weak to do anything about it. Power was simply assumed. >the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must Men who were proud puffed their chest out and got pussy, lots of it. They were leaders, orators, artists, poets. Men who were meek got no pussy, and rightfully so. They were farmers, construction workers, slaves, followers, the uneducated. They knew their place. Then the Abrahamic religions were introduced to the world. They were attractive to plebs because it gave them power over their masters. Suddenly what had been deemed as bad was now good, and what had been deemed as good was now evil. It created the concept of equality which, to Romans and all societies before them, was unnatural to the cosmic order. The power between classes flipped. The introduction of these slave religions slowly destroyed the natural state of man. Now man is told pride is a sin. He is shamed for fucking multiple women. He is evil for engaging in revenge. He is evil if he does not turn the other cheek or have mercy on those beneath him. This new "truth" is a haze that rules the masses, and now the priest class are leaders when in Rome they would've been low. This world today is unnatural. You're not going to allow the system today to control your instincts...are you?

Why do Prots claim to be more authentic to early Christians: If Protestantism is closer to the true Christianity pre Nicaea, why do they place so much emphasis on scripture? Why do they worship the written word when 1st and 2nd century Christians would have been largely illiterate? I've finished 3 different books last month on the origins and growth of Christianity. What I gather about early Christians was that they did not worship scripture at all. They appear to be more centered around the Eucharist, and as early as Ignatius of Antioch, we see evidence that they did believe the Eucharist was the blood and body of Christ. The term transubstantiation would be anachronistic for this time period, but as early as the first century we have evidence that Christians believed it was the flesh and blood of Christ. They also did not sit around reading the Bible and forming head canon about Christ, they did however have bishops provide oral teaching. And pre Nicaea we see a hierarchy already beginning to crystalize, especially with the bishops of major cities being considered higher authority. They met in homes because they weren't allowed to build churches within the Roman Empire, but even looking at Armenia we see Cathedrals built before Nicaea. So what exactly is the true to original aspect of Protestantism?

paleodiet BTFO: >New study shows that paleodiet is a LARP >https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10814-025-09214-z Turns out paleolithic meat-only-eater is a meme for normies and some copium-huffing academics. Evidence from based places like Israel and Australia shows complex plant processing (grinding, cooking) way thousands years earlier than the so-called "Broad Spectrum Revolution" (boomer theory from 1969). Our ancestors were squeezing every last calorie and nutrient out of their environment from day one. To identify, process (with fire and tools), and digest a huge variety of plants wa the main strategy even for paleolithic humans.

Not only is anti-natalism the correct ethical stance, the vast majority of people agree with it implicitly. Wherever you go in the world, you give people easy access to birth control and they have unfailingly chosen the path of slow but steady voluntary extinction. Because deep down they know that there's no point to keep the cycle of misery and suffering going. It's okay to let consciousness disappear from the world, it's the right thing to do.

Japan judicial system/prison general As lot of gaijin end up in the japanese draconian judicial system, this theard it to tell your story with it. Japanese law allows for the detention of suspects for up to 23 days before indictment. Detainees are not allowed to request bail for the period and are subjected to interrogation throughout without lawer In Japan, criminal suspects face severe abuses in pretrial detention. Authorities routinely strip them of their right to remain silent, interrogate them without a lawyer, coerce them to confess to crimes through repeated arrests, and deny them bail – resulting in detention for prolonged periods under constant surveillance in police stations. There is no "Judeo-Christian" civilization; there is an Abrahamic civilization. Muslims had infinitely more impact on European philosophy than Jews, with philosophers like Thomas Aquinas drawing inspiration from the Andalusian debates between Ash'arism and Mu'tazilites. The term "Judeo-Christian" originated in Israeli propaganda of the 1960s, with films like Leon Uris's Exodus.

Memory Errors and Sexual Orientation: I was wondering if I could get some help with this idea I want to flesh out. After talking with younger people that struggle with their sexual identity (mostly nerdy-types and terminally online zoomers like myself) I'm beginning to believe the issue is much bigger than pornography and sexual stimulation. I believe what's happening is some sort of error in memory that turns lived experiences into a "sexual awakening" when in reality nothing exceptional actually happened to that person. Let me explain. I was talking with someone who felt that he "might be gay" because he still reminisces about his childhood best friend and the validating, loving feelings that that friendship gave him. I asked him questions about his friendship, if anything sexual or "homoerotic" occurred - he tells me nothing unordinary happened, no sexual experimenting, his friend is even a dad now. What I think is going on is that his current understanding of sexuality from an adult perspective (in a hypersexual society) blurs and distorts his own childhood memories, effectively tainting them. So instead of recognizing his childhood friendship and the moments for what they were, I think what's happening is that his memory is being subconsciously altered, making it difficult for him to actually recall how his child-self lived and felt about his own friendship. I don't know if there's any term for this, I'm trying to find some papers related to memory error for now.

>The Army of the Potomac spent the whole of September 16 sitting on its hands, the day Lee proved he could call a consummate bluff and McClellan would never call him out on it. Half the Confederate army was not yet present on the field and if McClellan had simply ordered an attack all along the line he could have driven the half of the army that was present into the Potomac River, including Lee himself. But he did nothing. He spent the day conferring with his generals, reconnoitering the enemy positions, getting his guns into place, and weighing the risks he would not take. Lee was given an additional 24 hours, not more than 5 minutes beyond what he required for survival, and when the Union attack began at sunrise on the 17th, Lee had enough men around Sharpsburg or on the way to make a fight of it.

Enlightenment in a nutshell: 1. Everything exists as a creative expression of God, this is the only reason why anything would exist at all 2. The true nature of God is kept hidden from us because it requires the mental illusion of separateness (pain, anger, etc) to make the rediscovery more joyful, and it is in knowing God that life is made meaningful 3. Everything is just a play, and everyone plays a part. Why? See bullet 1. After everything is over we will realize that we have always been intimate friends, even our most hated enemies or demons. All parts of the same ultimate being. 4. There is no hell, no eternal suffering. The suffering is caused by ourselves and it is eternal until it we stop causing it. It can be very intense, this is "hell". 5. All we have to do to stop causing it is realize our own suffering is something we make up in our head. When you fail, when you want something, it is that narrator in your head telling you how much you hate this, that is the only thing making you suffer. You judging yourself. 6. Deep inside you is already unity with the divine, you just have to discover the infinite wellspring of universal love to find God and find happiness. It is not that you can love all existence, it is that in your deepest part you already do.

Is malthus the most evil thinker in history? >nazis read malthus and invented lebensraum >capitalists used his ideas to claim that poverty is caused by overpopulation >he contributed to anti-natalism and child-free ideology >eco-terrorism is inspired by his ideas >his theories were used to justify british colonial famines in ireland and india >provided a foundation for eugenics movements >shape modern degrowth and anti-humanist environmentalism >used to justify forced sterilization in third-world countries The only ideology that rejects the Malthusian framework is Marxism-Leninism.
