Dec 1: 16 high schools and elementary schools from the US and China signed MOU’s in the presence of 
Consul General in Chicago Wang Baodong (王保东) while the book “West Meets East:
100 American Middle and High School Students' Stories About China” (东西交汇) by 
Northwestern University’s current Director of Northwestern’s Summer in Beijing Program professor Gu Licheng (顾利程) was launched.
Dozens of American high school students were also present.
This was an event of “YES Friends Club” (55之友联谊会), which was launched by the Consulate General in Chicago on Sep 13 this year. The “YES Friends Club” is part of Xi Jinping’s “inviting 50,000 American youths to China in 5 years” initiative.
This is part of Beijing’s united front / influence operations to identify and recruit young Americans who can be readily molded into “spokespersons” for Beijing and the CCP — supporters and defenders of the communist regime — in the future.
The US doesn’t seem to be able to do anything to stop such influence operations.
