What the developers have to say:

Why Early Access?

“We chose Early Access because the game is playable but incomplete, and we want to involve the community in our development decisions before finalizing the game. We want at least 3 heroes and several more features before we are happy calling the game full version - “1.0”.”

Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

“Approximately 1-2 Years.”

How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

“The full version will have at least 3 heroes all with their own unique play styles, skills, and skill trees and also feature at least 2 more world types with special monsters and world bosses. We also plan to add many more features based on community feedback.”

What is the current state of the Early Access version?

“In its current state the game has:
- One hero with an expansive skill tree with over 600+ nodes to unlock.
- Three world types with unique environments, monsters, and world bosses.
- An automator that allows you to automate complex skill combos and item purchases.”

Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

“We currently have no plans to change. We may change the price after Early Access, but that’s 1-2 years out.”

How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

“Involving the community in the development process is one of the main reasons we decided to go with Early Access. We’re very active in our community and we’re always listening to feedback and looking for suggestions that we think players will enjoy.”

The development of this game has had a lot or ups and downs as the devs tried out different progression mechanics. I've tried all the different iterations as they've been released along with the second wizard character. Generally, I've had a good time starting over as new features have been rolled out and released. A lot of the updates have been for the better and a lot have been disappointing.

With that, in it's current state, if you like Clicker Heroes or want to try out a new take on the idle game genre, I would recommend getting this. There's a lot of cool mechanics and the progression system they just released is a strong step in the right direction. Plus you have 2 characters to use with different progression and idling mechanics that you can switch between as you progress.

30$? Yes? No? Maybe?
Personal Preference, for me it's okay so far, I see that they try to make it more a game, than just a clicker like the 1 Million others out there.
But a lot of people do not understand it's Early early Access/Beta (0.0.x Version) and freaking out over a variety of things (even some things they can't implement right now like Achievements)
And other people are not able to understand, that they are trying to do new things with a new way and find limits or problems to solve yet.
I enjoy the game, it hits my taste more than the first part, but ...
personal preference.

Is this game worth 30 dollars?
to normal people NO
to people like me who leave idle games open while playing ranked in league of legends so when you die and have a minute death timer you can catch up in this game, then buy it its honestly a good investment of time for both your sanity and hopefully a good investment for the future updates -YES

I'm giving this game a thumbs up, but only because its nice to have a paid idle/clicker game without the microtransactions/time gating.

The devs were transparent about the reason they could not continue the game, and while that is disappointing, I understand and applaud them for going into such great detail. https://playsaurus.com/blogposts/TheStateOfCH2.html

I feel like even though it is not complete, its still a great purchase compared to F2P clickers. I love not having to redeem multiple currencies, or trying to figure out what the best use of gems/coins is. I can just play and relax.

I hope one day they continue development or at least port it to mobile.

Cloud saves too, please!

$20 is a lot. There is a lot of game here, and the price is fair for a full-featured clicker-type game of this scope. Most clicker games would nickel-and-dime the $20 out of you in micro-transactions; this one collects up front. I appreciate the honesty.

The game is an unfinished labor of love. It's unfinished because $20 is a lot, and people are understandably hesitant to shell it out all at once. I hope the game finds its legs and gets the support it needs, BUT. It's unfinished in the way that, like, the Winchester mansion is unfinished. It's haunted by the dreams of those who built it, and they are really cool dreams. So to me, it's worth it. I'm glad I bought this game for $20, and I spend a lot of time tinkering with builds and watching them play out. It's fun for my non-neurotypical self.

Wish it was more like the first game. Developers abandoned a game that had promise.

Charged a large amount of money for an idle game making promises of it being worth it and then provided nothing even close to being worth the money and abandoned the game completely.

Wasted Potential. Dead game without an update in sight since 2021. Early access even now, too. Don't waste your money or your time. Spend $30 on something else and go play the first game, which happens to be free. Wish I got my money back.

I had high hopes - but then then the developers over committed, under-delivered, and then abandoned the project. Sad.
