CNN recently debuted it's AR extensions of Studio H at Techwood, which has allowed them to use more wide shots of the studio as a whole.

The fake windows ruin the effect.

Otherwise not bad, but I feel the textures could be improved to make it even more realistic.

Amara Walker was totally underutilized. She was probably one of the best when it came to International News. And unshakeable during breaking news.  She should have been the lead anchor at that network. She was never going to get used to her full potential at CNN Domestic. This is sad day.

Definitely underutilized. But she's only 43 (?) and could always make a return to cable news (or even local news) in the future.

I think a lot of people are leaving because they see the writing on the wall, both at CNN and in TV journalism as a whole. As long as CNN stays owned by WBD and Zaslav, it's going to be a bit toothless because he is trying to curry favor with Trump so as not to impede his M&A ambitions. Sad.

Yeah she was wasted on that weekend morning show. Should have had her and Victor do the weekday show instead of Kasie Hunt.

I hate this. This and the virtual extensions of the Atlanta set just give cheap vibes. This is not the CNN of yester-year.  The money and the personnel are gone and they are trying to do what they used to do. They are trying to make Atlanta "HQ" feel "big" like CNN Center used to. And it just doesnt. Its done. Why not do realistic VR instead of this ridiculous OTT VR? It just looks stupid. Sadly FNC is the popular "Kool-Aid" channel. They  have given viewers the ammo to fuel their views and that outrage brings in viewers. Not much you can do to compete with that. I cant see CNN ever coming back to popularity. They will be forever chasing viewers. FNC is a outrage commentary channel. CNN feels sadly like a directionless lost cause.

This looks like NewsNet with an actual budget...very, very tired of virtual studios and minimalist graphics which aren't explained well. They thrive with experts discussing stories on their own with just a basic screen or touch panel. Nobody needs this.

Here's you're look at "The Arena's" graphics minutes into the premiere. Did not get the title card so I'll add the promo card instead. Very flat, funky, and use of gradients. Also, during the teaser Hunt was walking around, and the walls displayed similarly funky and "out there" pictures of the founding fathers, Lincoln, etc.

The (morning) Situation Room kept the graphics and added Pamela Brown's name to the logo, very ugly though, I'll add.image.png.ac23e982eae81e3c17510fbac663adbc.png

Another YAWN talking head political show. The interview she gave TVNEWSER she tried to explain what makes her talking head panel show different from the 50 other talking head panel show. "You get the full picture, both sides, blah blah blah."  PASS.

He’s great. I love him too. He should be on the main CNN instead of Kasie Hunt. Something different to the non stop politics.

Looks like an Apple Store.

I'm sure someone at Apple would love to have stores that look like that...with or without the video "tank" in the middle.

Derek Van Dam tweeted about the VR EXTREME weather center. Did they need to add EXTEME to the title.

Link's broken. You need to remove the extra "http://" at the beginning.

I've noticed that CNN is slowly phasing out the red box from the logo, first it started with the website a while back, now it's making it's way to shorts, long form digital videos and promos, with the promos showing a small animation for the logo, sort of like they used to do in the 90's, like so.

Apologies for pushing up this thread but "The Source" has debuted new graphics and moved into a "new" set, made out of CNN's Washington Newsroom.

The new package features Collins and her work at the White House prominently, a departure from the city imagery of the last package, it kind of reminds me of their packages for Chris Wallace.

These graphics are a huge upgrade from what she previously had.

The tight shot on her is also framed incredibly well.

I haven't had much of a chance to watch the show since the update, but it feels a bit grittier. Interesting for them to leave a studio to go into the newsroom. I kind of wish the daytime newscasts would go back into the newsroom (though I didn't care for the boring flashcam setup).

Brad Smith debuted as the “CNN Headline Express” anchor this morning on the CNN Headlines FAST channel (not to be confused with HLN/Headlines News)

Brad uses Studio H in Atlanta with a background that mimics an extension of the studio. Coy Wire joined Brad in studio for a sports update.

Smerconish also debuted a new studio this weekend, which was a flash set inside his new Philly office.

KTTV's Elex Michaelson is joining CNN as a Los Angeles-based anchor. He'll host a late-night show

airing at midnight-2am ET starting later this fall.

History repeats itself. It was 10 years ago this month that CNN launched "CNN Newsroom live from Los Angeles" with John Vause and Isha Sesay. With a new bureau in Burbank hopefully they'll invest in something that resembles a studio, rather than a broom cupboard.

Wonder what this means for John Vause. Polo Sandoval officially took over the 12-2am ET weekend slot in July (Michael Holmes' former timeslot) with Ben Hunte taking 2-4am. Maybe he can team up with Rosemary for a true morning show for Europe. Also curious if they'll continue to air World Sport at 12:45am on CNN International.

I can remember Vause anchoring the then-Los Angeles based newscasts of CNN Newsroom years ago before he relocated back to Atlanta.  For the most part, Newsroom has had solo anchors, but I can imagine Vause co-anchoring with Rosemary Church sometime in the future.  There is more precedent, because I believe they have co-anchored during special coverage in the past.
