Tom Chambers, originally portraying the Detective Inspector ranked Edgar Sullivan from 2014 to 2015, officially returned to the main Father Brown cast in 2023. Chambers, before returning to the main cast, had made guest appearances as a promoted Detective Chief Inspector Edgar Sullivan on a few occassions. One of the standout episodes where this occurred, closing out the eighth season, was “The Tower of Lost Souls”.

Chambers, since season ten, has once again been a series regular cast member. The actor, taking a moment to reflect on the coming new season, spoke openly about his feelings, the direction his character might go, and the series.

Sullivan and Mrs Devine are planning a wedding! How is Sullivan feeling about the upcoming nuptials?

Sullivan is obviously aware that Mrs Devine is working for Father Brown and he knows it’s a conflict of interests, but Sullivan’s adoration for Mrs Devine is unbreakable and he thinks she is the perfect soulmate for him. Mrs Devine is a breath of fresh air for Sullivan as he’s had quite a stifled life with his parents, particularly his father.
