Zhai Xiang (翟翔) has been working for state media Xinhua after he left Stanford University’s Hoover Institution in 2015 (here’s a Xinhua story on Oct 29 this year with him as one of the reporters 
mp.weixin.qq.com/s/lr7_IohZKp8j). If you google his Chinese name 翟翔 and Xinhua News Agency’s Chinese name 新华社, you’ll find lots of news stories with him as a reporter. Some time last year or so he became affiliated with Xinhua Institute, Xinhua’s “think tank”. Apparently he is not too proud of his employment at, or affiliation with, Xinhua, as he proudly highlights Stanford and Cornell in his X profile but says nothing about Xinhua there.
Zhai has been constantly pushing CCP narratives and propaganda on X and other media while highlighting his “authority” on the subject matter — he studied this or that at Stanford — even though that was already 10 years ago.
Unsuspecting people can be easily duped into believing he’s a genuine scholar by his “Stanford” veneer without realizing he’s nothing but a CCP mouthpiece — a cog in the regime’s propaganda machine.
