How come Samsung arbitrarily disabled manual flash at 50M or 64M photo resolutions? How come Samsung arbitrarily disabled manual flash at 50M or 64M photo resolutions?

At 50M or 64M high resolutions (depending on device), it only lets you select automatic flash. What is the point of this restriction? It seems completely arbitrary and unreasonable.

In comparison, Xiaomi allows manual flash at high resolution, and even continuous light, which Samsung doesn't have at all in photo mode. But to Samsung's credit, they have added the ability to turn the light on and off during (not just before) a video recording, which Xiaomi does not have.

Sound notifications stopped for messages, email. tried so many "fixes". Please help? (S21) Sound notifications stopped for messages, email. tried so many "fixes". Please help? (S21)

Hi all, sounds were working on notifications briefly yesterday and I must have inadvertently changed something that I don't recall.

I've followed all the guidance from "thebrazillian1" here:

Make sure Multi Sound and Separate App Sound is off.

Whenever you notice a notification come in without sound go to settings search for notification history and tap and hold the latest notification, that'll bring you to its alert configuration settings. Make sure it's set to "Alert" and under "Sound" it's set to the default notification sound as it may be set to Silent as a sound.

3.if the first 2 steps didn't work, Enable Developer Options and check "show notification channel warning" and click on "reset notification importance" (honestly I'm not 100% exactly how either of those settings work, it may be related to something else but I've done it before and nothing bad happened lol. ***snipped***

4. I use Samsung's "Sound Assistant" app ***snipped*** I recommend this to everyone, it's really handy.

Double and triple checked Do Not Disturb and again while I tear my hair out....

I wonder if it's something to do with the carkit..?

"may contain sensitive information"? "may contain sensitive information"?

I tried to Bluetooth images on my phone to a computer, but I got a message I've never seen before saying that the images may contain sensitive information. What does that mean and why did it show up here?

The images are years old, and mostly of me and some are me plus one friend. At a distance, a woman is wearing a shirt which looks like a QR code at a far distance, but this is just by chance and lighting.

Edit:

The only photo for which I see "! May contain sensitive information" is as follows:

Friend wearing white shirt in front. Me wearing mixed dark blue + bright red just diagonally behind my friend.

An old couple is in the distance behind us, and one of their shirts is white/black as if it's a QR, but I doubt it scans as a QR.

Even further behind that old couple, there is a black truck, and then trees behind that.

Screen very dim when receiving notifications while screen is off? (S25 FE) Screen very dim when receiving notifications while screen is off? (S25 FE)

Not sure how to phrase this - when my screen is off and I receive a text or something, I receive the notification but the phone lights up very little, such that I can hardly see what the notification is about. Is there a setting that I'm missing, or is this an issue with auto-brightness? This wasn't an issue on my old S10.

Question about galaxy and Android Auto Question about galaxy and Android Auto

Hi all, I have a reasonably niche question but hoping someone can help me.

I like to voice chat to AI on commutes. Gemini, chatgpt, whatever. Keeps me engaged. The trouble is, my current phone (Pixel 6a) and/or Android Auto itself don't play nice with voice stuff outside of the system dialler. As far as I can tell, the apps are either only using my inbuilt phone mic (not the cars) and/or switching between them. The transcription of my voice is awful and shows frequent gaps.

I just bought a Galaxy A56, and also a pair of galaxy buds 3 pro, not just for this purpose but I'm hoping somewhere in there is a solution. Does anyone know if the galaxy line have more options in how Android Auto routes the audio, and especially the voice/mic data? Pixel didn't give me any option to change devices. I even have a usb-c lapel mic but it doesn't seem to use that either! My ideal is for the A56 to have use usb-c mic and play audio through the car, through Android auto (so that I can see the map and avoid having an earbud while driving, which doesn't seem like an ideal setup). But even if it's just reliably using the car mic that would be better than my current stuff.

Cheers

Director's View and Super Slo-Mo in OneUI8, are identical to the ones in OneUI6.1? Director's View and Super Slo-Mo in OneUI8, are identical to the ones in OneUI6.1?
Director's View and Super Slo-Mo in OneUI8, are identical to the ones in OneUI6.1?

I am researching potential downsides of updating the security of my phone. The two isses I'm concerned:

Director's View. Renamed Dual Rec on my S25/OneUI7/8, is pure crap compared to what I have on S23/OneUI6.1. Can no longer switch front lenses during filming, requires multiple taps to select lens, the only upgrade is filming in HDR. Between HDR and the ease of use of 6.1 version, the later wins. Is it still there?

Super Slo-Mo. S25 has less FPS even if S23 does not really have 960 but 480 interpolated, but still more hardware frames than S25. Gone completely in S25/OneUI7/8, you can only post process and do a 1/32x AI-backed edit transform. Is my Super Slo-Mo intact in S23 in OneUI8?

Thanks.

S25 Edge actual battery and camera performance S25 Edge actual battery and camera performance

S25 Edge is at a reasonable price point.

Will the newer higher mp camera let it perform as well as the old S10 cameras? (Which is good enough for me).

My old S22's 3700mah battery lasted 4-5hours ... by far worse than my previous 5 phones.

Does the S25 Edge's newer chip, 3900mah battery but 80% higher pixel count, brighter screen that's 22% bigger display mean the battery life will be worse than a new S22?

Trying to decide what Samsung phone to buy for my mother Trying to decide what Samsung phone to buy for my mother

Hi! So I’m in a bit of conundrum. I am trying to choose a decent phone for my mother. Here is the kicker: Her old Z Flip 4 died recently and I’m thinking about buying z flip 7. She doesn’t really care about protection and usually just drops the phone into her bag. Can you give me some good advice about this phone and what kind of protection Gould I buy?

Found 2 locked Samsung Phones in a garage I bought, what can I do? Found 2 locked Samsung Phones in a garage I bought, what can I do?

I promise I didn't steal anyone's phone.

I bought a little garage in my street, and there were a lot of packages left there from the previous owner (who died, which is why it was sold).

I found these two phones in one of the boxes, but they're both locked with a password.

I tried to factory reset them, but it still asks for the password.

Is there a way to bypass this?

The phones are a Samsung Galaxy A51 and a Samsung Galaxy A21s.

Don't hesitate to suggest anything else I can do to make use of these phones.

Quickshare changes since UI updates on a Galaxy Tab A9 Quickshare changes since UI updates on a Galaxy Tab A9

Previously when I've shared a link I was given a short list of apps in a single row for me to choose where to send the link.

With the latest (and possibly previous) Android update I now get two rows of destinations.

The first row is now a list of quick share destinations followed by a list of email addresses (see photo).

I don't want either of these, just the app list as was.

I have found the setting to turn off the quick share destinations but for the life of me I can't find how to turn off the email address list.

Searching around there is mention of a "Show contacts when sharing content" toggle but I can't find it in this model's settings. The other alternative seems to be using Good Lock but that can't be installed on this tablet.

Is there some other way of turning off this 'improvement' please?

Thanks in advance.

Samsung cloud not restoring latest version. Samsung cloud not restoring latest version.

Hey everyone. Hope your well.

I had to factory reset my phone as I forgot the unlock pin. Upon resetting and logging back into my Google and Samsung accounts, I noticed that my data isn't up to date.

When I log into Samsung cloud on my laptop, it says that Samsung notes last synced on October 2025 but when I open the notes app on my phone, the notes don't go past 2022. They are all from 2022 and older.

Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

Many thanks.

My charging port got moisture inside and I can't get my phone charged. What to do ? My charging port got moisture inside and I can't get my phone charged. What to do ?

It's been 24 hours that my Galaxy A54 can't be charged because of moisture in the charging port. The thing is I didn't wet my phone at all so I don't really know how it happened. Plus I find it abnormal the moisture is still there after so many hours.

I'd be very grateful if you've got tricks so that I can repair it by myself (I'm a student on a low budget and i didn't anticipate this would happen). If you don't have any idea then I'll bring it to an official Samsung store on Monday, I guess they'll know how to repair it (but it'll be expensive)

Currently my phone is turned off with 3% battery remaining and before writing this post I tried to charge it with four different cables so I'm pretty sure the phone is the problem.

Thank you in advance :)

Galaxy S21 & Galaxy Watch 4 Galaxy S21 & Galaxy Watch 4

Hopefully someone can assist me. I have an S21 and Galaxy watch 4, however long ago I updated my phone and watch. After doing so I wasn't able to have different sounds for notifications on my phone, but I could on my watch. I found a post saying you have to enable app categories on my phone, which I did. Ever since then, I can no longer set different notification sounds on my watch. I've restarted the watch multiple times and I've even reset it, but still all notifications on the watch use the same sound.

Has anyone figured out how to solve this?

If I get a S25 and Galaxy watch 8 will I have the same issue?

Why does my phone's battery go down so slowly? Why does my phone's battery go down so slowly?

I have an approximately 4yo Samsung Galaxy phone. Today, my battery is behaving itself weird, it stays in the same percentage unless I "trigger" it to go down with calls. Yesterday it didn't have that problem, but today, with the "reset" I sometimes do (restart it during the day to avoid a wee error), it stays in the same percentage for way too long. Why does this happen?

Samsung's Android version updates effects on older phones Samsung's Android version updates effects on older phones

Hi!

I'm a longtime moto and pixel user who is considering switching to Samsung. The promise of long software update policies is attractive, especially compared to moto's infamous short software update policy. I've been mulling it for a while and researching the various models, but have noticed quite a few (or at least it feels lke quite a few) threads over the years where people indicate that Samsung version updates cause 1 or more of the following issues after installation on older (2+ year) phones:

  1. performance slow downs or inconsistencies that were not present with the original android version, usually accompanied by the phone heating up more frequently or to higher degrees than before the update

  2. battery life degradation: some of the threads seem to indicate massively decreased battery life for some users

  3. unwanted app installation via samsung installing or re-enabling some app that it uses to push out various games and apps that 3rd party developers pay samsung to showcase. this seems very concerning as when I disable moto's own version of this sort of app, it stays off when version upgrades happen and no new unwanted apps are installed after version upgrades

  4. the phone is straight up bricked or bootlooped

If possible, I'd love to hear peoples' thoughts and experiences with software updates on Samsungs, especially after the 2 year mark. You all know far more about this topic than tech reviewers who use a phone for a week and declare 'it's great' before switching to another phone to review. I prefer to keep my phones for a long time and Samsung's official update policy is attractive, but pointless if the reality of the updates pushed makes phones worse or bricked.

Thanks for any comments!

Pause USB pd charging while gaming? Has anvone tried this feature when playing games? i'm kinda scared to use this feature since i'm using my phone while charging, but at the same time, people say that this feature is good to use to prevent overheating and improve performance without detoriatimg the battery Has anyone here actually tried it? And also, how do I know if the charging has actually paused or not? 1 thought there might be other indicators since it still shows the charging symbol when I'm in game How can I make sure battery not charges while playing cause I tested it on a game and my battery changed from 87% to 88%

Im in UK and my new A16 seems to be an Indian model, should I be concerned? Im in UK and my new A16 seems to be an Indian model, should I be concerned?

So I accidently broke the screen on my A35 so we went to the local phone shop to pick up a cheap replacement A16. I'm guessing its an Indian model as on power I'm ONLY getting Indian news on the lock screen.

Will UK carriers (we use Vodafone UK) work with it?
Will 5G work?
Will tracking apps like Life360 work on it?
Are software updates delayed/earlier compared to the UK model?
Any other things exclusive with the Indian version? Do you think it will get same security support?
Any issues we may have?

One way backup to OneDrive ? One way backup to OneDrive ?

I want to know if there is any way to only backup the photos from gallery to OneDrive and not sync, so that I can delete the photos/videos from my phone but retain it in my drive if needed.

I tried unlinking the OneDrive account from Samsung Phone settings "Accounts and Backup" and enable only backup but could not find such an option in the OneDrive app.

The OneDrive settings is different when compared to the one seen in my Oneplus phone which has a setting called "Camera Backup" (which only backups and not sync) but the same setting in Samsung is "Gallery Sync" and no separate backup option.

Link to Windows vs Google Messages device pairing Link to Windows vs Google Messages device pairing

What's the difference here? I've noticed that sometimes when I send a message from Link to Windows it creates another text message group, starting another conversation instead of picking up the existing thread in Messages. It's nice to share files and do screen mirroring but the lack of/inconsistent sync is weird and annoying. Any benefit to doing it with device pairing instead?

How to roll back Android 16/One UI 8? How to roll back Android 16/One UI 8?

Yesterday I got One UI 8 update on my Tab S9 FE and I am really disappointed. Firstly - I'm an idiot, I haven't red what's in update. Old DeX mode was removed. I was using it every day to work with documents (word, excel, etc). Today I understood that only new mode is available, which basically the same as standard. Also transparency setting on windows was deleted in One UI 7. How I can go back to One UI 6? As I know bootloader is now locked.

USB-C Care USB-C Care

So I have worked rough jobs all my life (Mechanic/Oil field/Construction). For the past 4 years my position has migrated to the office side of things. I still do a lot of home projects (building a deck, clearing land, renovating).

I avoid total enclosure cases (Body Glove, Life Proof, Otterbox) because I loose functionality. So, I have always ended up using the thinner more rugged cases (MagBak, UAG, Mous, Denali). With a Zagg screen protector (always Zagg, best screen protector IMO and never had an issue interfering with my case).

I have always used cases that cover the USB-C port or purchased a cover on Amazon to cover/plug the port. This has limited my options on expanding into trying new cases.

Right now I'm using a MagBak for my S24 Ultra, it has a "pinky pillow". Seriously, that is what MagBak calls it. I had one tear and they sent me two for free. I tried using it without it, and it was seriously uncomfortable.

For those who do not make it a point to cover your port, how often do you care for it? Do you worry about it getting damaged? Or is it a Rocky IV thing, when it dies, it dies?

Thank you all in advance.
