Nach 30 jähriger Erfolgsarbeit im Bereich Hard & Heavy übergab Bogdan Kopec, Eigner und Geschäftsführer der Drakkar Entertainment GmbH, verkaufte Kopec 2016 Drakkar an die Firma Soulfood GmbH.
Bandmanager Bogdan Kopec gehörte in den 80er Jahren mit seiner Firma Drakkar Promotion zu den Pionieren der Metal Szene. Drakkar wurde binnen weniger Jahren zu einer weltweit geschätzten Marke und hatte mit Newcomern wie Kreator, Sodom, Running Wild und Rage international Erfolg. Über seine Bookingfirma buchte er schon früh nicht nur in Europa sondern auch in den USA, Japan und Südamerika Tourneen und war darüber hinaus auch für viele Bands aus Übersee Wegbereiter im hiesigen Markt. So absolvierten u.a. Sepultura, Biohazard und viele mehr ihre ersten Europa Tourneen in Zusammenarbeit mit Drakkar.
In den 90er Jahren war Kopec Mitbegründer des Labels G.U.N. Records, wo er mit Bands wie Guano Apes oder HIM zahlreiche Gold und Platin Auszeichnungen erlangte.
Zur Jahrtausendwende verlies Kopec G.U.N. records und gründete Drakkar Entertainment GmbH mit dem Label Drakkar Records. Drakkar konzentrierte sich von nun an auf das Label und schloss die Bereiche Booking und Bandmanagement. Neben zahlreichen Größen der alternativen Musikszene wie z.B. Emil Bulls, Letzte Instanz oder Xandria ist das herausragende Signing von Kopec die finnische Band Nightwish. Kopec hat diese Band vom Newcomer zu einem der weltweit erfolgreichsten Heavy Metal Acts begleitet und allein in Deutschland über 1,5 mio Tonträger verkauft, die mit mehreren Gold und Platin Awards ausgezeichnet wurden. Zwei weitere Gold-Awards konnte Drakkar 2006 den Monsterrockern „LORDI“, den Gewinnern des Eurovision Song Contests überreichen.
Zu Drakkar Entertainment GmbH gehörte auch der Musikverlag Edition Drakkar.
Den Musikverlag gründete Bogdan Kopec bereits 1983 und gehörte im Bereich Metal, Classic Rock oder Gothik mit etwa 3000 Titeln mit zu den führenden Verlagen in Deutschland in diesem Segment.
Nachdem Bogdan Kopec 2018 den Musikverlag an die Firma BMG Rights verkaufte, verabschiedete er sich von der Musikbranche und setzte sich endgültig zur Ruhe
After 30 years of successful work in the Hard & Heavy sector, Bogdan Kopec, owner and managing director of Drakkar Entertainment GmbH, sold Drakkar to Soulfood GmbH in 2016. As a band manager, Bogdan Kopec was one of the pioneers of the metal scene in the 1980s with his company Drakkar Promotion. Within a few years, Drakkar became a globally respected brand and achieved international success with newcomers like Kreator, Sodom, Running Wild, and Rage. Through his booking agency, he organized tours not only in Europe but also in the USA, Japan, and South America early on, and he was also a trailblazer for many overseas bands in the local market. For instance, Sepultura, Biohazard, and many others completed their first European tours in collaboration with Drakkar.
In the 1990s, Kopec co-founded the label G.U.N. Records, where he achieved numerous gold and platinum awards with bands like Guano Apes and HIM. At the turn of the millennium, Kopec left G.U.N. Records and founded Drakkar Entertainment GmbH with the label Drakkar Records. From then on, Drakkar focused on the label and closed the areas of booking and band management. In addition to numerous prominent acts in the alternative music scene, such as Emil Bulls, Letzte Instanz, and Xandria, Kopec's outstanding signing was the Finnish band Nightwish. He accompanied this band from newcomer status to one of the world's most successful heavy metal acts, selling over 1.5 million records in Germany alone, which were awarded multiple gold and platinum awards. In 2006, Drakkar also presented two gold awards to the monster rockers "LORDI," the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Drakkar Entertainment GmbH also included the music publishing company Edition Drakkar. Bogdan Kopec founded the music publishing company in 1983 and became one of the leading publishers in Germany in the metal, classic rock, and gothic genres with about 3,000 titles in this segment. After selling the music publishing company to BMG Rights in 2018, Bogdan Kopec bid farewell to the music industry and finally retired.
