It's (almost) Halloween :O 
I wanted to draw something cute, and with a bit more effurt than usual to celebrate. (Last time I posted a GIF I animated it got kinda glitchy, hopefully this comes out fine lol.) So here's Ruby, trying really hard to carve her pumpkin in time fur Halloween... It's a lot of work fur her! But of course she can do it, she can do anything :P

An upgraded variant of the RK62, the humble RK62M1.

The humble 7.62 pierces through trees which is good fur our terrain.
But the main reason we use 7.62 is because the Russians also use it. In the event of war against them, we would be able to loot and pilfer their ammunition and use it ourselves. Using other calibers would put a large strain on our supply networks in wartime.

That's plausible, though I don't think the Russians have had 7.62x39mm as a primary front-line rifle cartridge fur infantry since the 1970s.  They used 5.45x39mm almost exclusively in Afghanistan.

I haven't seen tests, but the standard issue 5.45x39mm had GRAU designation 7N6 fur decades.  It used a steel core bullet, and against the kinds of light cover common in urban warfare it's not bad at all and compares favorably with the old 7.62x39mm M43 PS steel core.  But I don't know what bullet design you're using in your service ammo, either.  You might not be sitting on stockpiles of lacquered steel case corrosive primed M43 PS in big steel cans. As affluent capitalists you might even be using brass cases and non-corrosive primers.

As Finland has joined NATO, I would have thought there would at least be some studies about switching to NATO standard calibers.  But I am not sure 5.56mm is going to be as good against all types of barriers, especially if you go with the Belgian SS109 with the partial steel core that everyone else in the alliance is using.

But to bring this back in the direction of art, can you tell us about the character?  Thanks.

She is The Cat Eloisa, also known as Eloisa, or simply 'loisa. She has no tail.
The current existence of this cat is her third iteration, and by far, the longest surviving one. This 'version' of The Cat Eloisa has been around fur half a decade now. Her predecessors were only around fur around a year or less each. 
But I wonder, as The Father of The Cat Eloisa, would it be time fur her to be reborn once more? That would imply that her name also, would need to change. But I don't want her to lose this one...
Also, these flags are cool. I'm going to see if I can also make one fur 'loisa.

Have you thought about trying with sculpting? Blender's tools are pretty good & you might find it more intuitive. Modeling vertex by vertex is a good skill, but takes much time to master.

Also, because the rifle has what looks like an optical sight, I felt another compulsion to do something autistic artistic.  Here, have an optical sight reticle designed fur 7.62x39mm, rendered at 100 pixels/mrad.  It is designed with the assumption of use in either a fixed 4x optic or a 1-4x low power variable.  It is based on a design briefly offered commercially in the US circa 2013, except that one was sold as being suitable fur 5.56 but the reticle subtensions were completely kuh-razy and the holdover points fur drop were in yards instead of meters... and not correct fur either one.  I ran the numbers fur this one on an online ballistic calculator, using a G7 ballistic coefficient instead of the more common G1 model. It should at least be close.  Go show it to the FDF or something, I dno lol.

Pretty happy with the humanimal compromise I struck with the hands, & not so happy with such in the feet (plantigroid prototype is complete-ish, but marginal.) How viable is low poly stuff with sculpting? I've considered trying sculpting but I'm committed to the low poly angle

So generally you do a sculpt at a higher resolution than you want, then use that sculpt as sort of like a guide fur your actual mesh (we call this retopology, but don't worry too much about that.) I will grant that sculpting is itself definitely less ideal fur low-poly, but I was thinking of it as maybe an intuitive way to fill out the shape of your character in order to make the later step of actually building your low-poly model less intimidating (by giving you something concrete & 3d to build around.)
Alternative proposal fur just the hair though, you could try mocking it with b-curves or with a skin modifier. Trying to straight up box model the sort of shape you're going fur there is definitely tricky.

It looks like it was a mix of unretopologized sculpts & a stupid high subsurf level. Like, if your usecase is a game you really do have to retopo, no excuses. Guy must have been pretty lazy- but tbf, its not like his target audience had any standards.

Sci-fi stuff, fur my setting. The book I am working on that is. The alien characters are the antagonists. But I was thinking of maybe coming up with some kind of tank design fur the human faction. Something with a little bit of inspiration from these. It would be something different to do.

It's DromEd/ShockEd, the Thief/System Shock 2 editor. Not too familiar with hammer but from what I understand Hammer is easier to learn than this shit is. Doesn't help that theres much less documentation out there fur it, especially fur SS2 specifically since most of the documentation is by the Thief community

I struggled with sketching this a lot, idk why, but these poses were hard. He's supposed to be leaning onto her, if that isn't clear lol. I originally was going to do a drawing of the two cuddling together and both purring, because fur some reason I had thought that skunks purr like cats, but they don't... D: 

Vio is one of the ONLY moids that Jade likes, probably because he's really passive and quiet. And the fact that he's a little bit scared of her helps, as he would never say anything that could be seen as mephitophobic, he's very aware of how angry she can get sometimes :P

Yeah, sorry if it isn't obvious, I'm not the greatest at drawing masculine looking anthros, the only way you can really tell is by his lack of boobs and big eyelashes lol. I don't want to be like one of those annoying artists who will draw a character with extremely female characteristics and then go "oh btw they're a BOY lol!!!", I'm not trying to trick anyone or anything like that. But I do want him to still look cute tho :P

In her defense she still doesn't get much attention from males (oppressive anti-skunk society...) and Vio is a friend, they may be intimate enough to cuddle but they're still platonic and not dating or anything.

Probably the same characters from the Skribble word list, though it'd probably be fair to have a limit of one OC per artist. So probably like:
Lyra, Kiki, Laura, Doodle, Femcel, Nine, Cassandra, Foxcat, Natalie, and Jade (I'd probably prefer Ruby but I think others would want Jade, lol)
Though maybe instead of Natalie it could be both Bonn and Kate and they could have some sort of Ice Climbers thing going on where they tag team

And I definitely would want OCs to get priority over mascots. But if there were mascots, the only ones I'd want would be Averi, Bully, and Blackchan. 

The real question is who would be the top tiers...

thanks, and yes, sort of. i was originally going fur a napoleonic era russian unifurm, but decided to mix two different russian ones and used the color scheme of the police officers in dishonored

well his powers are stolen from trepang2. i guess invisibility could be substituted fur a blink ability that can teleport a short distance. his main weapon would be a sword, but could also dropkick as an ability. maybe he has a powerup where he slashes extremely fast due to fast reflexes. as fur his banter, im still deciding what his personality is, but im going with cold and professional. he wouldn't say much other than "target eliminated." femcel might be a more interesting character in terms of dialogue
