Silver's comic and fandom characterization inverts all the things he is and isn't supposed to have in common with Trunks
Silver is supposed to be focused, pragmatic, impulsive and fierce like Trunks. Uwuver is none of those things.
Silver is not supposed to be bashful, polite or reverent like Trunks was (because Silver is supposed to be straightforward and rude). Uwuver is all of those things even more so than Trunks was.
I haven’t forgotten the claims that Silver is Shadow’s son because their inspirations (Vegeta and Trunks.) are father and son. Where’s the logic?

Yes, it will - if the comics-exclusive characters are canon and feature in no other canon but the comics, it stands to reason those comics will become required reading if you want to be taken seriously in fan spaces and discussions. Especially if IDW stans keep pushing people out of general games discussion by constantly mentioning the comic and how it improves the games.

The fact that the two spheres cannot touch is a problem. Because now instead of the comics following the games' lead (and failing), the games would have to pretend the comics exist as some weird-ass platonic ideal where it's there, not there there. We have Tangle and Whisper's faces on our box art, but not their personalities or their backstories.A newcomer is gonna take one glance at that and say "Not worth it."You know I was on a bit of a Halo kick for a bit, and I think that franchise actually provides a good reference for comparison. Because there's two eras of Halo, Bungie Halo and 343i Halo, and they kind of present this two road choice meme.Bungie Halo had supplemental material that WAS considered canon. The book Fall of Reach detailed the backstory of Master Chief and his military career before the events of the first game, detailing his family how he became duh chief and how he ended up on the Pillar of Autumn. The book First Strike takes place immediately after the end of the first game, showing how he made it back to Earth after the destruction of Halo.Both of these books were considered canon and those stories happened as far as Bungie was concerned. But THEY WERE NEVER EVER EVER CONSIDERED REQUIRED READING. The games never so much as REFERENCED the books. If you ONLY played the Halo video games, you would never be confused about plot points or character mentions that originated from the books. They were additional tales that expanded on the story, but they were not REQUIRED to UNDERSTAND the story. Bungie understood that the audience for Halo were gamers who played video games not read books, and they were the Arbiters of this universe. In fact their final released video game Halo Reach was a prequel detailing the same events as the book Fall of Reach. And the game contradicts the book in small ways! Bungie considered the books canon, but did not let themselves get constrained or restricted by the books. If their creative vision deviated, they would do whatever THEY wanted and disregarded the book rather than feeling compelled to limit their game design to accommodate the story written by someone else ten years ago.As far as Bungie were concerned: The books were not required, they were secondary. Supplemental. Relatively unimportant in comparison to the video games. Nice to have for the fans who cared, but they didn't actually matter.Contrast that with 343 Industries when they became the owners of the Halo property. And they handled things.... The opposite.343i's Halo games are actually INCOMPREHENSIBLE unless you read the books. There is a trilogy of books that are a cosmic prequel explaining what happened to the ancient precursor race that the evil Covenant aliens worshipped as gods and if you do not read it then Halo 4 will be a confusing clusterfuck to you. (Not the least of which being because those books completely retcon what those ancient precursors even were, so if you only played the games you're going to be extra confused and saying "wait what? I thought the Forerunners were Humans, why are they a completely different alien species now?" GOTTA READ THE BOOKS DUMBASS LOL)But the most readily apparent example to point to is actually Halo 5. Because Halo 5 was designed around a 4 player co-op experience and that was integrated into the story. So Master Chief is now running around in his levels accompanied by three other playable Spartan characters. But these are NOT new characters, oh no! They are Fred, Kelly, and Linda! Wait, you don't know who Fred Kelly and Linda are? Well that must be because you ONLY played the video games and never read the books! That's right, Fred Kelly and Linda are characters FROM THE BOOKS who are appearing for the first time in a physical role in this game!Not gonna lie, as someone who DID read the books, kind of a cool moment. But the almost unanimous response to this was for people to collectively shout "who the fuck are THESE people?" The game legitimately expects you to already be familiar with these characters from the books, and does not bother to introduce or explain who they are whatsoever. And it COMPLETELY ALIENATED everyone who ONLY played the video games.343i turned the novels into REQUIRED READING. You legitimately will not understand what is happening or who any of these people are in the games unless you read the supplemental expanded universe material.Starting to see what I'm getting at?IDW fans are arguing that SEGA should treat the comics the way Bungie treated the Halo novels. As "canon" but not really "important." And yet, they also demand that characters from the comics get included into the games! They want Tangle and Whisper to just show up, as they are in the comics, as already established characters introduced from the events of the comics. Like how 343i did with Halo 5 and Master Chief's co-op partners. Either unaware or unwilling to admit that these are MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE OPTIONS.If the IDW comics AREN'T required reading, then Tangle and Whisper are not and cannot ever appear in the video games in any substantive manner. They cannot ever be acknowledged as actually existing. They cannot be treated as any differently than NiGHTS or Hatsune Miku: a fun reference to another property that isn't to be taken seriously.If Tangle and Whisper or any other comic character were to appear in the games as is, then that automatically means the comics ARE required reading. If everyone were to treat Tangle and Whisper as people they already met before and know and have gone on adventures with, then that's just the Halo 5 situation where people who only play the games are going to respond with "literally who?" and then be told the explanation is in these books and to that they will say "fuck off this game is dogshit" and they'd be right.You can't have it both ways. Maybe comic fans can lie to themselves because they're delusional cultists, but the rest of us over here in reality are not going to go along with that cognitive dissonance.The third option is one that comic fans actually DON'T want. And that's the idea that Tangle et all would be introduced in the games as completely new characters. Like, in Sonic Frontiers 2 Tangle shows up and goes "hi I'm Tangle" and everyone goes "nice to meet you Tangle I'm sure we will become the best of friends." Because if THAT happened, then that would actually definitively DECANONIZE the comics. That would be the inescapable avalanche that proves the comics ARE NOT NEVER WERE AND NEVER WILL BE canon. Worst case scenario for the comic fans, which is probably why they haven't even considered it as a possibility because even entertaining that as a hypothetical is something their fundamentalist cult dogma brainwashed ass minds cannot conceive of lol.Luckily for them that outcome is the least likely. Because given Sonic Team's track record, it is apparent that they simply do not feel compelled to include the comic characters whatsoever. Quite the opposite. Any time there is an opening for the possibility of a character from the comics fulfilling a role in the story, Sonic Team clearly would much rather just make up a new character all their own to use in that role instead.The fact of the matter is that the IDW Sonic comics are about as canon as the Archie comics were. Which is to say, literally not at all whatsoever. IDW fans can try and convince themselves as much as they want, but they'll never be able to change reality.
