Boys & Girls Clubs seek new location at south Scottsdale school

A new Boys and Girls Club may soon be constructed and opened at Tonalea Middle School in south Scottsdale.

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board heard a pitch during its June 20 meeting from Ivan Gilreath, president and CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, to open a 10th location at the local middle school.

In the past year, meetings have been held between district and Boys and Girls Club representatives to consider space that is currently underutilized after Tonalea was changed from a K-8 school to a middle school in recent years.
