Could you issue a final sale or base price reduction for people who would like to collect your games?

Perhaps publishing free software on Steam could be the answer.

so you will make this Game free?

if not can you do a Final Sale? or Basepricereduction? or make a Bundle with all your Products included?
Thanks for this galaxy brain and I'm sure totally sincere analysis, Paul, very cool. Since you're so plugged in to the community, I'm sure you are aware that there is a group of hard-core game collectors that will buy your games following this announcement, so wouldn't it be the most ethical thing to hold a 95% sale to epically own those dastardly Steam people and reduce their easy 30% cut?

Why not make edgimon free for a limited time as a going away present? It'll get you word of mouth and help people discover you as you shift to other platforms.
final sale?
final sale please!

Final sale?
Final sale!?
LLM wrote you a hilarious sack of nonsense there. Congrats?

Maybe do :discount_90: before you take it off sale. Might not help you pursue aggressive wealth and success, but at least we could all distinguish the fake from the real and see for ourselves this isn't some low-quality game and even deserves some publicity.
Paul, I've read with some attention your post, and I can easily affirm that I'm totally concord with you. Also from a consumer standpoint.
But we all are in a evil spiral, and we can only that fight and adapt.
You can remove the game without notifying consumers; all you're doing is creating FOMO, which is a very common practice among the people you're criticizing.

Many games are removed from Steam with the intention of generating sales from game collectors.

I agree that there's a lack of standards and that the internet is mostly a garbage dump, but I think moralizing or feeling superior because something doesn't align with your beliefs is unpleasant, because in one way or another, we're all somewhat unethical/moral.
The issue really is the right to fantasize about being evil. Because where do you draw the line with morality in the realm of fantasy? Ahimsa law wouldn't agree at all with the enjoyment of people killing each other in a videogame. The Golden Rule of "Treat others as one would like others to treat them" which is highly valid in real life, hardly applies in videogame fantasy, because nobody is really hurted unless you let yourself be hurted psychologically: it's all just fantasy.

I must add that I consider the right to publish a very bad videogame a human right as valid as any other.

it's a steam rule to inform customer about the removal.
I should also publish a questionable game, that is mostly a ripoff of a popular concept and come with an essay, about things I don't like to see on Steam for delisting and try to stir up controversy, for inducing FOMO for a final sale, just to get bought at all.
