    I love DediRock

Tbh I wouldn’t use it for any real production but for your average LET stuff why not

If things go tits up just setup another VPS

So far so good for me

I’ll flag this to mods though as these are obviously not meant ro be ordered now and will cause huge load and money for dedirock to refund everyone

I don't think it's malicious in that way. They're just affliate link sites that lead you to the providers' product links, but with an affliate ID already appended to the URL (so whoever hosts the affliate site gets a commission from your purchase).

Not sure if you saw it before the site url was removed? Why would you increase and display the packages by a factor of 10 if you were using affiliate links. The order will get disputed and you wont get paid anyway.

A fake website from .cn? Is it a phishing site? I’ve heard that data leaks are common in China. I think @DediRock should take note of this site and send an abuse email to the domain registrar to prevent further harm.

It's not phising, I checked the URL and all is fine.

Ordered the VPS using a throwaway prepaid creditcard and that appeared to work, it's delivered but not with the specs as advertised.

It got the same specs as: https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/209030/unreal-deal-7-a-year-kvm-vps#latest

And no, I did not expect to get the specs as advertised as I knew about the real $7/year offer which I wanted to get anyway for uptime-kuma.

This website is just an affiliate site that compiles deals and includes promotional links; it's not a fake website as mentioned in the comments. The purchase link might be a merchant error. It's a very ordinary issue; anyone would think it's impossible to buy this configuration for $7. Don't be ridiculous.

    What are you on about?

The aff site (.cn) has just scraped the plan descriptions as they are on DediRock's actual billing site (WHMCS). It's just that the plan description isn't what decides what the specs are. The plan description is an error on DediRock's side.

    This product description from .cn:

    Spoiler

is the exact same as this product description on billing.dedirock.com

    Spoiler

You can check it for yourself, if you want: archived version

The problem is, of course, that this wasn't supposed to be publicly listed and wasn't actually configured to deploy VPS with the listed specs in the description.
Don't get me wrong though, the OP is an idiot for being surprised that the deployed VPS didn't actually end up having these specs and then complaining about "slow" replies on a Sunday night.

I'm not a fan of affiliate sites that aren't transparent about being so, by the way, but let's not spout complete bullshit statements here.

A plot twist would be if @DediRock was actually preparing such offer for Black Friday.

We kinda were (not for $7/yr, of course), and thanks to all this scrapers a few providers over the years have to cancel their BF plan, thanks all these affiliates for ruining the fun.

Scrapping pid=1~10000000 is kind of malicous thing which is called brute force or something. There's no annoucement officially on public page or their category on billling.dedirock.com. Let me know if you find the link on their site or their public announcement.

    Thanked by 2FAT32 Decicus
  • The services are real because pid are real. But I'm sure that those deals were for BF Megathread. They were hidden, not properly hidden, but real. Anyway, I'll stick to my opinion that they are for BF Megathread.

So don't expect to get delivered now.

Providers get ready, but the scrapers are everywhere.

  • So WHCMS has a weakness where any links can be public if you know the URL only. Interesting.

Ya so I highlighted in the private provider thread that please use order link + promo code combo so many time (since 5 years ago) but yet there's always a few providers when I asked again and again claims that it is hidden properly from WHMCS so don't worry...

The site just redirects to the official Dedirock site with aff links, how exactly do you think they're going to steal your card?

That I can agree with. Enumeration is 100% a problem.

When I said "don't think it's malicious in that way", I specifically meant "it's not stealing your credentials or payment details" like someone here implies it does.

    Yes pid 209 for NY.
    And pid 203 for LA.

But don't dream about it. You won't get those specs. Because those are for bf megathread.
