Rest in power, Alice Wong.
We were Twitter mutuals for a while and we exchanged a bunch of dms about Chinese food and ice cream. She said she could not eat most foods due to her disability but she enjoyed talking about and reading about them. She was also probably responsible for radicalizing me about disability politics. She very kindly sent me a copy of her book. Alice will be missed by everyone who has ever known her, read her, interacted with her.
@skinnylatte oh no
she will be missed. rest in power.
@skinnylatte thank you for sharing this news
@skinnylatte despite this not being a surprise even by crip standards, I can't quite get past the 4 letter F word response in my brain.
Thank you for posting this. May her work grow even stronger with her passing.
thank you for sharing - she was a force.
i just listened to several of the interviews - moving and helping me with acceptance, love, action, and patience. take a listen
@skinnylatte @Jorsh Ah no, I followed Alice on Twitter for years. A massively important voice
@skinnylatte She was a disability oracle to me. I will forever be indebted to her for helping me see through and discard damaging, socially ingrained, and hurtful beliefs. And by doing that, a part of me became more free from my own shame.
Thank you, Alice. Thank you.
@skinnylatte Couldn’t have said it better myself. Rest in power, Alice.
@skinnylatte I'm so sorry to hear that Alice passed
@skinnylatte I am crushed :/
@skinnylatte RIP indeed. I ran into her at Purdue during the early 2000s. She had just founded Storycorps. What a legend.
RIP
@skinnylatte If there’s anyone who deserves to rest in power, it’s Alice Wong.
Oh no, what a loss to the world. Sadness. Thanks for passing on the news.
@skinnylatte Alice Wong was a hero, a thinker and a writer, a pillar of flame in a deceptively fragile package. My heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and everyone who loves her.
She was amazing
@skinnylatte oh no.
