No more metaphor.
This isn’t poetry, this is a plea for Gaza.
This is solidarity with the brave souls on board @globalsumudflotilla set sail today.
This is an appeal to our @uklabour @keirstarmer @david.lammy government and the rest of the Western governing bodies complicit in Gen*cide that could be stopped with a phone call.
This is a plea for Sudan and Congo, an acknowledgment of the systems of Empire that are at work in the most violent tandem in our world. Please keep talking about Sudan and Congo.
This is for the children and babies. Our children and babies.
This is a call for @unitednations meaningful communication, cohesion and action.
This is for free speech.
This is resisting with the tools you have.
This isn’t poetry.
This is a plea.

As horrors continue to be livestreamed from Gaza, Save the Children supporter @zawe has penned a beautiful and harrowing poem.
Zawe is an actor, writer, and director who this week announced that she’s expecting her second child. She says: “In the depths of horror, when words fail and despair looms large, I have always found poetry to be a sanctuary where pain can be processed and the unspeakable expressed. It is essential to illuminate the harrowing experiences endured by the children in Gaza. These young souls, whose innocence should be cherished, are instead engulfed by death and despair.
"To share these words with Save The Children is to commit to the collective responsibility we all have to cast a spotlight on their relentless struggles, and to remind humanity that every child is entitled to life. A life filled with hope, peace and freedom to dream. The cries of the innocent have been the underscore to this profound moral failure. This poem also stands as a solemn vow to myself—to advocate for children with unwavering courage.”
The poem, 'Hope will need a new name', shares the stories of children who are facing bombardment and horrific challenges to survive on a daily basis. The message is one of hope and despair, highlighting the horror the children of Gaza are enduring.
It takes a village
Today, I chose to mark a milestone in postpartum recovery with a trip to one of the @littlevillagehq baby banks, dedicated to supporting families all year round.
It was a joy to make the trip as Mama and @savechildrenuk ambassador and add to their donations with some nappies, postpartum care items, baby and toddler clothes and a well loved buggy. This was just the first installment!
The daily pressures for families who can’t access immediate means to provide all they need for their children, are compounded by the holiday season and the cold weather. Please follow @babybankalliance and find your local bank to donate those items looking for a new home.
Most needed currently are jackets for 3-6 year olds, blankets and items that can be used as Christmas gifts.
Throughout my recovery, I have thought deeply about the children in our world facing the most devastating living conditions and those tirelessly working to protect them. I’ve reflected deeply on the ongoing war against children, a fight I am fiercely committed to. Our elected representatives and humanitarian law have made it clear: the bar for children’s rights has been obliterated. Daily, we witness unspeakable crimes against the most vulnerable, perpetrated with impunity, funding, complicity, and protection.
We are beginning to see the threads of these atrocities woven together, not through mainstream or legacy media, but through the relentless efforts of communities on the ground and online.
Together, we are making sense of it holistically and those responsible are either revealing themselves or being exposed one by one.
Staying in tune with our communities, decentering individualism, is a key way to resource the revolution that needs to come.
Donate, volunteer, defund, boycott.
I am eager to continue this journey alongside all of you, as we continue to demonstrate to the plutocracy, that there are NO children of a lesser God.
