Alan Watts will always be treasured in my life. Through listening to his past recorded lectures and talks, I have been able to transform how I view the world. And, I believe now, that I see this reality in a much healthier and respectful way, thanks to him. I was completely converted from Catholicism.

I was seeking the vocation of priesthood before I found Watts. Consistently denied of my interests in giving back "because of too much baggage". "You're can't be a good father to any flock with the kind of baggage you're carrying". Fair enough.

After another year or so, my mom -- my last living parent -- passed away. Both deaths of my parents were suicidal, and their deaths destroyed me, and kept me destroyed for a couple more years. And, then, I found Alan Watts on YouTube. Plenty of talks and lectures to be heard (years before Alan's son decided to monetize his father's work [a different conversation for a different time]), and so much wisdom from him...

He truly helped me -- even decades after his death -- to see reality in a different and healthier way. And, I will always be grateful for his legacy. I no longer have to worry about my eventual death as I now accept it as "the other side of the coin of life". No life without also death, no self without other, etc.

It's a shame he was such an alcoholic in his last remaining years... but, nonetheless, he was good. He was gentle and caring. He had an amazing way with words. It is almost impossible to not understand him; he was just that good. Now, his legacy is cemented in good grace, and cherished by many.

Thank you Sir Alan Watts for your contribution to humanity. You live on. You are the Universe... that which than which there is no whicher. The being than which there is nothing greater. Thank you for showing that I am that as well, and that all life is that as well.

I remember wanting to go to Mt Tamalpais to get a glimpse of him in 1973, then he died.
