The paperback of my memoir, "Chasing Hope," is out today! Thanks to @Bonniegarmus for the quote on the paperback cover: "This is the kind of memoir that changes the world. Read it." Please do, and help make the paperback a best-seller, too! And thanks for all the kind comments.

When all 57 Buffalo police officers on the emergency response team resign because two were suspended for knocking down a 75-year-old man and sending him to the hospital, this seems like an opportunity to find 57 new police officers who don't approve of assaulting senior citizens.
Remember Tani Adewumi, the Nigerian refugee kid I wrote about 2 years ago who won the NY State chess championship while in a homeless shelter? Now well housed (thanks to you readers!), he just won a championship and is officially a National Chess Master as a 10-yr-old 5th grader!

I just heard that Navajo Nation, which has done a heroic job wrestling the coronavirus to the ground, is now donating extra PPE to India. The Navajo have been a model of resolve in fighting the pandemic, and are now a model in supporting others worldwide who need help.
Remember Martin Gugino, the 75-year-old victim of a police assault in Buffalo whom President Trump denounced? Gugino's lawyer, Kelly V. Zarcone, confirmed to me that he is still hospitalized with a fractured skull and unable to walk. Infuriating.
Reminds me of a press conference I attended -- in North Korea.

The media could not be played.
A hospital in Seattle area has sent out a note to staff, shared with me, suspending elective surgery and warning that "our local COVID-19 trajectory is likely to be similar to that of Northern Italy." The hospital is down to a four-day supply of gloves.
Of the 32 new Rhodes Scholars chosen today, a record 21 are women and almost half are immigrants or first generation Americans. One is undocumented and under DACA. They constitute another reminder that immigration can enrich America.
I’ve covered warlords, dictators and corrupt authoritarians for decades, Mr. President, and they always threaten journalists. But in the end, they have a way of being toppled, even imprisoned, sometimes together with their corrupt family members. We will continue to do our jobs.

The New York Times is an embarrassment to journalism. They were a dead paper before I went into politics, and they will be a dead paper after I leave, which will be in 5 years. Fake News is the Enemy of the people!
And if we stopped issuing death certificates, Americans would live forever.

I admire the fact that speaks up for the Palestinians. I suspect that this costs him votes every time he does it, and yet he brings it up regularly. It's like his concern for the crisis in Yemen -- no votes in it, but a sign of values and authenticity.
I'm flabbergasted by the RNC insistence that Pres. Trump's handling of the pandemic is so brilliant and so successful. How can you say that with a straight face when the US has 4 percent of the world's population and 25 percent of the world's Covid deaths?
Hmm, Nikki Haley should examine poverty in America. She'd find that 3 million US kids live in "extreme poverty"--less than $2 per person/ day, the same standard for extreme poverty in Congo or S Sudan. Some US kids have worms and other parasites. Happy to take Haley to show her.

Evidently we have enough evidence against the people on Venezuelan boats to kill them, but not enough to prosecute them in courts.

In 2015 I met this Palestinian farmer, Abdel-Majeed, on the West Bank. Israeli settlers were attacking him and stealing his land, and I thought the situation was about as bad as it could get. No, it has gotten much worse. I revisited him last week, during a week-long trip
The Trump administration was in such a rush to deport Syed Jamal, beloved chemistry professor in Kansas, that it whisked him off by government plane. Now after a judge's stay, the plane is refueling and bringing him home. As brutal as it is incompetent.
The arrests of R. Kelly and Jeffrey Epstein, and the resignation of Secretary Acosta, all are consequences of indefatigable journalism--a reminder that despite many failings, journalists aren't enemies of the people but provide accountability and serve the public interest.

Wow. We officially raised $1 million for Texas relief at 9:17pm. Thank you all so much. 🙏🏽 I’m at a loss for words. Always in awe of movement work. 💯% of this relief is going straight to Texan food assistance, homelessness relief, elder care, and more. secure.actblue.com/donate/aoc-soc
Time is running out for the US to give instant visas on the tarmac to at-risk Afghans, such as interpreters and women's rights advocates, get them on planes out of the country, and sort things out later. That's not optimal, but it's the right thing to do.
My video report from the perilous front lines of what President Trump described as “war-ravaged” Portland, a city “on fire,” requiring troops to come save us.
Strikes me as disgraceful that 185 House Republicans come out so brazenly against a moderate, wonkish Democrat with a national security background because he’s investigating Trump misconduct. What’s the GOP slogan becoming? Down with accountability? Impunity forever?

When I tweet skepticism about the killing of Soleimani, I get pushback from people saying that he was a bad man, so we were right to kill him. Reminds me of 2003 when hawks argued that Saddam was a bad man so we should invade. They didn't appreciate how high the price would be.
While a single mom in the US gets $1,200 in Covid relief, the GOP plan provides that a millionaire real estate developer gets an average of $1.6 million -- and Trump and Kushner will probably be beneficiaries. My column on more socialism for the rich. nyti.ms/3d47Xic
