Pokemon Jade is actually a bootleg of a gameboy color game called Keitai Denjuu Telefang 1. Tried it once, instead of catching pokemon you get the telephone numbers of monster to call them in battle lol.

Also, fun fact, this "Jade" was paired with another bootleg (Presumably of the other version) called "Diamond" way before official Diamond was a thing.

I remember stumbling upon this when I was a kid and aside from the bootleg translation, the game was actually really really fun. I remember something about falling into a portal in a tree, but couldn’t finish the game because I could barely comprehend what the broken English was supposed to mean and that was before the age where you could just search for a playthrough online
