Mark Zuckerberg asks himself a question every morning: “Am I doing the most important thing I can do today?” If the answer is yes, he puts all his effort into finishing the day’s task. Zuckerberg’s habit really struck me. After stumbling and suffering enough, I finally got it: People who make money have switched to a simple mode.

Simple Goals

In 1889, French businessman Édouard founded a tire workshop. Under his dedicated management, the small workshop thrived. As it grew, Édouard wanted to expand into more businesses. Shipping was booming then, so he immediately started a shipyard. Then, he heard the wine industry had great prospects and quickly opened a wine company. He thought grabbing every trend would make his business skyrocket. Before long, all his companies started losing money, and even his core tire business faced an economic crisis. Édouard couldn’t understand why.
