Shame on the news stations

Why are the reporters outside right now? One of the WDRB reporters told a story that an officer told her to take shelter and get out of there and she continued to stay where she was. Why aren’t the news stations telling their reporters to take shelter like they are telling the people? There’s literally gasoline in the air. Get your reporters out of there you can’t see anything anyways.

Edit: they are now telling people to turn off their air intake in their homes yet these reporters are still outside. No masks on. Nothing.

No news station is gonna turn away from a tragedy like this. Unfortunately reporters sometimes have to put themselves in danger for the sake of media. Think of the ones that report natural disasters.

Amazon won't turn its drivers away either.   I'm 3 blocks from SDF and received a delivery at 8:03 pm today.

I work at a collision shop within the one mile radius and you better believe we have to show up this morning too. I hate it here.

Okay this is weird. You made this account yesterday and are seemingly obsessed with telling people you live near SDF, going so far as to make it your username.

Stop ordering shit off Amazon and they won't send a driver to your house.

Brave reporters risking their health isn't a new thing. It's their risk to take, and first hand independent reports are valuable for the public.

nah, they can still wear masks at least. during the California fires, reporters were wearing full protective gear when outside.

I won't argue against that, they should use PPE.

Journalism in the field is - and always has been - one of the most dangerous professions. Dedicated journalists frequently risk death and imprisonment to show us what is happening in the world.

We owe so much respect to real news and the people who bring it to us. The fourth estate. Whether it's local emergencies or national politics or war zones abroad - we need them.

IMO, as horrible as these things are, these are the times journalists are probably the most excited to work, so I would imagine they are more than happy to put themselves in these situations.

  • Like reporters who go to literall war zones?

They need respirators if they’re going to be standing that close

Yup masks probably aren’t enough but at least it’s be a little less obvious that you’re putting innocent people in danger for absolutely zero reason. The videos are all dark and you can’t see anything anyways!

I was wondering why they weren't wearing masks and goggles.

One of the guys at WLKY did say they were all masking up when not on air.

But to be frank none of them have added anything worth being out there in the first place.

I thought the same thing. It was like "yep still on fire" and I was like.....you couldnt pay me to stand that close for my job

God, it’s amazing how much you’re dedicated to dying on this hill.

It was a plane crash. Breaking news. There’s no protocol or playbook on how to react perfectly in situations like this.

Thanks to all the reporters in the field who did their best tonight to provide news coverage.

That is literally their job. Journalists even go to war zones to report. How naive are you?

    More replies

Have you never heard of field reporting? Lmao.

You must think Anderson Cooper is also stupid for reporting on the war in the Middle East. The weather channel is stupid for having meteorologists out studying hurricanes.

Just stay inside for the rest of your life, people less stupid than you are going to make sure you’re okay.

I'm no longer local but my friends and family all live in Louisville still, and the national news is only showing election coverage

I live downtown currently in a shelter in place with them telling us to turn off our air intake. Means no heat and no cooling for the foreseeable future yet they have reporters a couple blocks away.

37 comments by OP going absolutely hysterical. Turn off the television and do something else bud.

Where were we told to turn off air intake to our homes? On the news?

I received a LensAlert advising it

Has nothing dangerous ever been asked of you in your line or work or your calling? If so congrats.

Thats like saying how dare they make firefighters go into burning buildings. Thats the job. This is news that people need to know about.

Can’t speak to the masks but Id be shocked if they told them they couldn’t wear them, I imagine its their choice.

Because "if it bleeds it leads" when it comes to the news. Because it gets the channels better ratings. This is not a new phenomenon.

Stay in your lane. Touch grass.

Journalism requires risk, especially in times of disaster. That's why the press generally has more freedom in these scenarios

Can definitely smell/taste it in the air.

That's every news station. They're gonna put themselves right in the middle of the action. They do with Wars, Natural Disasters, Social Tension... Where u been at lol

Why are you so worried about it? If they get sick or hurt because they didn’t listen it’s a them problem.
