I want to clarify the PSA from last night and why I posted it so hastily. I saw that numerous Japanese VTubers were heavily affected by this person in a similar situation, and I feared that this incident would negatively affect my channel too. I deeply apologize for not reaching out ahead of time to confirm details with the affected parties and from Youtube directly.
I have seen the post from Sebamise on YT, who in this case has stated that they sent the gift memberships without intention to refund. However, I was unfamiliar with this person and they have never interacted in my community before, and given how common chargeback scams are, I acted out of caution and fear for the safety of my livelihood and safety of others in my extended space as well.
It's true that gift memberships are NOT refundable, but they can still be charged back directly with the bank/CC company. There have also been reports that creators get hit with the bank processing fees, which are then taken out of their monthly YT payout. I have no way of knowing for sure yet what the exact situation is regarding this instance of gifted memberships due to delays with YT Studio metrics and limitations with Youtube's Creator System. I’m making an effort to contact Youtube support to see what happens with cases like this for future reference, since this has been a known issue on Twitch, and I hope to learn more soon.
If you are a fan or viewer, I kindly ask that you please only gift donations or memberships if you have the means to! Every streamer is extremely grateful to be supported and recognized for their work, but the looming possibility of chargebacks when the support is given on uncertain ground is really scary to us
I will be locking replies on the previous post for the aforementioned reasons of being too early to judge the situation. I hope that future clarification from YT will clear up the process regarding chargebacks.

During my stream today, I was gifted a massive amount of channel memberships (around 250) by an account I wasn't familiar with. I'm usually quite suspicious of accounts like this, but today I played along in good spirit x.com/Kira_Nanase_/s…
