My father's murder case. My father's murder case.
Crime

My father's name is Lekhraj Kurdia.
I'm putting this out there because I want people who care about what's right to know, and I don't want this to just fade away.

My father was 45, worked as a property dealer in Ajmer, Rajasthan. He was murdered on 13 October 2025. That evening he left home for a birthday party. Someone he knew and did business with, Shyam Singh Rawat, had invited him. It was all a lie to get him there.

Two days later, on the 15th, the police found his body. It was buried six feet under in the forest near Kesarpura, Mangliyawas, just outside Ajmer. They had left his motorcycle somewhere else to make it seem like he disappeared on his own.

He was strangled. Then they poured acid and salt over him to hide what they did. Shyam Singh Rawat and four others have admitted everything. They planned it and carried it out.

It was because of land. Our family land, old farmland in my grandmother’s name. They were turning it into commercial property, for a restaurant. The conversion was done only about 20 days before the murder. Nothing was sold. The land is still ours. But Shyam wanted it all. When my father said no, they killed him. They even came prepared.

We are from a scheduled caste. This was greed, plain and simple.

The police have done good work. All five are in jail now. The case is at Christianganj Police Station in Ajmer.

We are pushing so this doesn’t get forgotten. We want the trial soon, the guilty to get life or the death penalty, and our land to stay safe.

I am his son. I am doing what I can, but I need help. These things get buried if no one talks.

Please share this. Comment. Keep it seen. If you know any reporter, lawyer, or someone who fights for justice, tell them, send them here. If you’ve been through land trouble, caste cases, or slow courts, any word helps.

They took his life. We won’t let them take his story.

Thank you for reading.

My elder brother suddenly collapsed after two months of going to the gym. CPR was performed, and he was revived. I’m sharing this to spread awareness about what actually happened.
Health

My elder brother 29M. One day he got sever calf pain on right leg while doing gym, it is very sever pain. Calf area turned red in color, hard, swollen. After 15 days he felt breathlessness, difficulty to breathe, pressure at chest area and on 17th day he collapsed at home.. By luck both are at home at that time and i was beside him. I started doing cpr immediate next second, did continously for 1 min, with lot of power. He revived, sat upright like nothing happened and within 20mim rushed him to emergency. Now he is safe and helathy.

Now i want to share diagnosis, what actually doctors said why he collapsed. My brother diagnosed with "ACUTE MASSIVE PULMONARY EMBOLISM". Means a big clot from leg DVT(Deep vein thrombosis) travelled to lung and stuck between heart and lung and stopped blood flow to brain.. So he collapsed it is massive clot so stuck between heart and lungs.

While he is in icu, we thought going to gym gave him massive clots.. But later when he recovered and shifted to room.. Doctor said my brother is genetically deficient in vitamin b12 from childhood, his body can't absorb vitamin b12..so he got hyper homocystien, So he has tendency of blood clots and by age that clot got massive in leg and stick to veins in the leg.. Now he is 29..when he started gym.. By workouts that massive clot got losse and separated from vein and started to travel in blood stram and reached lungs and got stuck.

That clot separation from vein gave him severe calf area pain.

So he has high chance of clots reoccurrence.. So he kept on lifelong blood thinner tablet and vitamin b12 tablet(methcobalmin, b12 folic acid).. He should take vitamin b12 tablet for life long.

So what i need to say.. Vitamin b12 is so imp for our body.. Long term deficiency can lead to clots and sever trauma..so check vitamin b12 and consult doctor if have deficiency.

While joining to gym newly , it is better to confirm that there are no clots in our leg. Small diagnosis can save life.

And doctor also said generally vegetarians will get this type of b12 deficiency. because in any type of veg b12 will not be present.. Only non veg will have b12. But my brother is pure non veg.. So doctor said your brother body genetically can't absorb vitamin b12.

I hope this post will create some awareness.. Thankyou..

Airtel gave me recycled number, now I can login to strangers account. Airtel gave me recycled number, now I can login to strangers account.
Policy/Economy

I recently bought a new sim airtel card. I didn't share new number with anyone. I started to get calls from unknown numbers. Even banks are calling me to repay the loan. Then i checked on true caller, I came to know that this number was previously owned by someone named Kiran. Airtel has a policy, If someone don't recharge their number more than 90 days, number will get deactivated and can be transferred to someone else. Now the actually problem is the previous owner have used this number in all apps and platforms. If I try to order food on zomato or Swiggy, no new user offers, everything already used by that person. If I try to book cab on uber, it has very bad ratings on this number. If I try to register some platforms or govt websites it says this number is already registered try login. If I try login it shows previous owners details. And even I can login to his facebook account, see his personal details, everything. This seems silly thing but it really a serious issue, if someone can't reacharge for 3-4 months, his number, all his personal details will get transferred to someone else. It forces users to recharge at any cost. Govt should look into this, deactivation period should be extended atleast a year. And immediate number transfer should be restricted. Atleast 4-5 years cooling period should be kept before transferring to someone else.

Faced caste based discrimination for the first time today Faced caste based discrimination for the first time today
Culture & Heritage

I recently shifted to a new building. The move went smoothly, and the building seemed nice enough. For the first few days, everything was normal. I'd see neighbors in the hallway, exchange polite nods, the usual stuff. But today, everything changed.

I learned that the family living in the flat directly below mine is Brahmin. Apparently, they were deeply offended by the fact that a Dalit person lives above them. I didn't even know this was an issue until it exploded in my face today.

It started in the corridor. I was passing by when I saw their son. Being polite, I greeted him with a nod. Instead of greeting me back like a normal person, he responded with a casteist slur. Just like that. No provocation, no prior argument, nothing. I was stunned, couldn't even process what had just happened. When I finally gathered myself and protested, asking him why he would say something like that and trying to reason with him, things only got worse.

His mother came out and immediately joined in. She started shouting at me too, adding her own slurs to the mix. The two of them were screaming at me in the middle of the corridor, their faces twisted with hatred. The father and daughter were there as well, just standing and watching, but neither of them said a word to stop it. They just let it happen.

The argument escalated quickly. People from both sides got involved, voices getting louder, the situation spiraling. Neighbors opened their doors, some stepped out to watch the spectacle, but not a single person intervened to help or calm things down. They just stood there, silent witnesses to the whole thing.

The humiliation of standing there, being screamed at with those slurs, being reduced to nothing but my caste in front of all these people - I can't even describe how it felt. The anger, the hurt, the sheer disbelief that this was actually happening. I thought we'd moved past this kind of medieval thinking, but clearly, some people are still stuck in the past.

After it was over, I knew I couldn't just let this go. I decided to take action. I went and filed a complaint against the son and mother under the SC/ST Act. I don't know what will come of it, how long the legal process will take, or what the outcome will be. But I had to do something. I had to take a stand and show them that this kind of behavior has consequences.

Indians being a headache in foreign countries Indians being a headache in foreign countries
People

for context, I was on a two week trip to Vietnam, and I could sense. The locals were not a big fan of us(indians). there was a significant difference in the hospitality towards the foreigners and towards Indians in some to most places. it was pretty evident. They did not like us with their Smurfs face gestures and their tone while talking to us while compare to talking to others. I can’t blame them as there were instances when people from our group created nuisance, which left us baffled. i ll list a few instances.

  1. Bargaining in a market to the extent that even the street shops that have to be really competitive to survive, denied to sell anything to us because what we offered was to too low.

  2. at the airport, while leaving the airport was short on staff that morning, thus the line was moving slowly. and the mighty indians took their civic sense for a ride, as they in order to catch their flight, barge into lines, removed the partitions, unleashed chaos. Mind well there was no proper line or streamlined process at the LUGGAGE CHECK IN. Everyone was screaming and fighting ( only the indians mind well at a vietnamese airport ). A lot of friends let their friends cut lines same with family members and this left a particular french tourist frustrated as for him virtually any space he moved up, was reduced by people cutting lines and he tried explaining it to us. Our public lacking basic sense of course tried to tell him, “esa saab kuch nahi hai, ham samajhte hai par kya kare”. in the end the french tourist was fed up and while leaving shouted “f**cking a****es” at the crowd. i’m not defending the french here, his last words were ofc too far but i understand his frustration, we indians can do wtv like this in india cuz if we don’t, there’s a good chance we might not board our flight cuz of the ruckus. But doing that in another country?!!!?! that’s js lack of civic sense.

  3. There were kids and parents shouting at an amusement park. A kid was throwing a fit cuz he wanted to sit at the end of a buggy and couldn’t and started crying. and his mother started to scold him which made him cry even more. everyone was blabbering and between us were a poor crowd of korean people, the quietest i had ever seen and their kid was really scared, the mother of the kid asked us to SHUT UP AND BE QUIET but ofcccc they didn’t.

IM HONESTLY EMBARRASSED. India is a lovely country, but some indians and our lack of sense?! that’s not. what’s worse is that our lack of civic sense is also misinterpreted as boldness and glamoured.

From 11 Years of IBS Misery to 100% Recovery – My Self-Experiment and Results. From 11 Years of IBS Misery to 100% Recovery – My Self-Experiment and Results.
Health

Hello deshvasiyon,
I’m 31M. So I’ll keep it simple, but still, it will be a long post. I suffered from IBS for 11 years and cured myself 100% of it recently. I spent years searching for cures all over the world — did a hell of a lot of research and self-tested expensive meds, hormones, and whatnot. While the fix turned out to be just some tablets from your local medical store and a few lifestyle changes.

Disclaimer: I’m no medical practitioner, nor am I going to sell anything. It’s purely based on my experience.

Primary causes of IBS

  1. SIBO – Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth

  2. SIFO – Small Intestinal Fungal Overgrowth

  3. Parasites – You may have parasites in your body without any direct symptoms.

  4. Heavy metals – Lead, mercury, etc.

  5. RO water – If you’re drinking RO water, check the TDS. 0 TDS means you’re drinking distilled water devoid of minerals. The lack of these critical minerals causes lots of issues, especially in mental and physical development of kids/individuals.

  6. Dust or mold fungus in your home – These can cause autoimmune reactions in some individuals due to long-term exposure. IBS is one such reaction.

FIX

  1. Rifaximin (sold as Sibofix in India) – To clear SIBO. It works in the intestines only.

  2. Fluconazole – To clear SIFO, yeast, and fungal infections.

  3. Albendazole – To clear parasites.

  4. Zeolite liquid – To remove heavy metals from the body (chelation therapy).

  5. Vitamin C – Fixes and heals the gut, especially leaky gut.

Lifestyle changes

  1. Normal tea with spices – To improve digestion and combat bad gut microbiome, and clear biofilms in the gut.

  2. Reduce stress – Calm yourself, work on your traumas, and if possible, cut cords with toxic people.

  3. Drink tap water after boiling it well (only if your water supply is good). Get mineral water otherwise, or take supplements like copper, silver, iron, magnesium, etc.

    • We switched to tap water as it is good and salt-free. Really a mind-opening experience.

    • (Still finding a way to filter water for toxins and metals but retain minerals.)

  4. Start using a vacuum cleaner – Don’t use a broom as it disperses dust into the air, which you end up inhaling 24x7. A vacuum cleaner is good; a robot vacuum is better.

  5. Use an air purifier at home – This gets rid of dust and microbes, giving you a chance to inhale pure air.

  6. Keep your home clean – Don’t let dust gather.

  7. BLACK MOLD – Fix it ASAP like it’s a plague, or move away from that place.

Regimen (what worked for me)

Sibofix 400 – 14 days, twice a day after meals.

Fluconazole 150 – 14 days, twice a day after meals.

Albendazole 400 – Once a day after meals for 8 days. (15 mg dosage per kg of body weight – calculate accordingly.)

Zeolite – 5 drops in 1 liter of water, 3 times a day (3L daily water intake).

Tea – Made with milk, star anise, bay leaves, cloves, and ginger. Must be pungent – 1 or 2 times a day.

Vitamin C – Take tablets or Vitamin C-rich foods daily.

EDIT : Finish Antibiotics first, followed by antifungal, followed by antiparasitic, then finally zeolite.

Not all at the Same time.

Tests I conducted on myself to assess the cure

  1. I tested myself with 10 full-sized tubs of ice cream so far in a month, pizzas, erratic eating, coffee, tea with full sugar, sodas, food from random restaurants, naan, maida-rich foods, pastries, jams, biscuits, etc. My stools remain consistent, no flatulence or bloating. I used to feel tired and shut down after eating these. Now I’m brisk. I still feel some post-food slump, but only normal levels — not crippling anymore.

  2. Went on two long solo drives for 600 km in 13–15 hours during the afternoon, evening, and night. Ate at good restaurants on the way. Was absolutely focused and didn’t feel tired or sleepy. Reached home after 12 a.m. I had never driven after sunset in the past 11 years because of gritty eyes, foggy vision, and body pain after eating.

  3. I’ve tried all milk products — ice cream, high-fat milk, paneer, cheese, curd, yogurt, etc. No IBS effects at all. Not lactose intolerant anymore.

  4. Tried all wheat and maida-based products — no reactions at all. Not gluten intolerant anymore.

Positive effects after cure

  1. Clarity of mind — finally felt my body like I used to when I was in school. Pain and problem-free. It was really something else. I enjoyed taking deep breaths. The world felt alive again.

  2. Improved positivity, clarity, and confidence.

  3. Better digestion — poop size and shape stay consistent no matter what.

  4. One word: life feels mine once again.

  5. Improved clarity, less to no brain fog, sharpness, ability to understand social cues, ability to sync well with life. Earlier it felt like I was blocked out of life.

  6. No body pain or joint pain.

  7. Cured of blood pressure, increased heart rate, and high cholesterol.

  8. Increased endurance.

  9. Hormones feel balanced.

Supplementary lifestyle changes (not necessary but good for you)

  1. Reduce or avoid sugar/processed foods — the bad guys in your gut thrive on sugar.

  2. Drink water properly.

  3. Eat fiber-rich foods — your gut will thank you. If you’re lazy, take isabgol; banana stem is better.

  4. Eat healthy — more greens, watery veggies, and fruits.

  5. Let your major source of carbs be fruits.

  6. Strive to be happy. Go in that direction. No detours.

Addendum

Since I’m involved with electronics and I poke my nose into all hazardous places, I had a high chance of lead poisoning from soldering with lead-based solder and other heavy metals.
So kids — if you’re tinkering with soldering, use lead-free material.

Effects and damages I faced due to IBS

Biological issues

  1. Frequent bloating, inconsistent stools — one day constipated, another day diarrhea.

  2. Fibromyalgia, autoimmune symptoms.

  3. Sudden hives breakout.

  4. Joint pain.

  5. Lactose intolerance.

  6. Gluten intolerance.

  7. Sugar intolerance.

  8. When I ate something sugary, my body would shut down.

  9. At the peak, I had auto-brewery syndrome — would get drunk from eating carb-rich foods.

    • I could still hear my parents calling me but couldn’t move.

  10. Severe inflammation — face would puff up after eating and sleeping; took days to go away.

  11. Gritty eyes after eating.

  12. Migraines, headaches.

  13. Frequent cravings — at one point, I was eating one cooker full of rice and it still wasn’t enough.

  14. Felt really weak — eating chicken gave me some relief from body weakness and tiredness. Became a full-time carnivore, but it wasn’t healthy overall.

  15. High blood pressure (was taking meds).

  16. Increased heart rate.

  17. Inconsistent, elevated cholesterol — had to take statins to keep it in check.

  18. Taking medicines further made me weak.

  19. Frequent stomach ulcers (was losing blood, making me iron deficient).

  20. Frequent skin infections.

  21. Malabsorption — was deficient in many vitamins and minerals.

  22. And many more things I can’t remember now.

  23. EDIT as u/Froyo_Curious mentioned, unexplained excessive sweating all over the body.

Psychological effects (caused directly or indirectly by IBS)

  1. Anxiety, sometimes crippling.

  2. Paranoia.

  3. Anger issues, rage fueled by high blood pressure and cholesterol.

  4. Extreme stress fueled by life events.

  5. Suicidal thoughts fueled by life events.

  6. Inability to think properly.

  7. Brain fog.

  8. Negative thoughts.

  9. Some more I can’t remember.

Social effects

  1. Fell from grace — from top of the sky to bottom of the ocean, basically became a degenerate.

  2. I shut down and was unable to be an active member of society anymore.

  3. My dad had this too, which I didn’t know at that time.

  4. Family became a shit show — from being a bright family with tons of potential to one people wouldn’t touch with a 10-foot pole.

  5. Delayed/stunted life and social growth.

  6. Severe financial effects.

  7. Unable to drive long distances.

  8. Unable to socialize.

  9. Couldn’t even eat at relatives’ homes, as I wouldn’t be able to drive back without my body reacting badly and my brain shutting down.

  10. Endurance to do anything dropped significantly.

Coping mechanism

  1. Sheer brute-force will, just like how my dad led his entire life until his death.

    • I realized this only recently. We used to get mad at him for having all the talent but being unable to excel.

When it all started

  1. Looking back, it started when I went away from home for university. The uni was top-notch, but the hostel conditions were bad and unhygienic. That’s where it all began.

  2. My mom told me my dad also lived in a hostel during childhood and contracted lots of infections, which, in his words, “didn’t let him eat well.”

    • I could really draw parallels between my dad and me.

    • It could be genetic — maybe the immune system is weak or the digestive system is sensitive.

Meds/Pros/Fixes I tried

  1. Endocrinologist 1 – Took tests blindly, said everything was okay, asked me not to stress much.

  2. Endocrinologist 2 – Better; said everything was okay except vitamin D. Started taking Vitamin D — felt some relief mentally but didn’t last long.

  3. Gastroenterologist – Said everything was okay, advised me to avoid coffee, tea, and milk as I had flare-ups after dairy.

  4. General Surgeon – Checked my organs, said all okay; advised more veggies, avoid oily foods.

  5. Cardiologist (my mother’s desperation) – I said I felt like sand particles in my eyes. His reply: “Such things don’t happen; it’s in your mind.” (It’s known as gritty eyes today.)

  6. Kept searching for a fix — came across testosterone, tried topical creams, then injections. Helped initially, but IBS was still there. It just kept me going on brute force. Stopped when my anger issues got out of control.

  7. Ayurvedic enemas from a local store.

  8. Many others I’ve forgotten over the years.

Potential paranormal link

  1. This isn’t confirmed, might sound stupid, but looking back — I once went into a graveyard at midnight with a corpse burning and stayed there for 5 minutes to win a bet with friends. Met with an accident the next morning.

    • If I draw a line on my timeline, that’s when life started going south — not just mine but my family’s too.

    • Sister got into an abusive relationship, became suicidal, we had a theft at home, I dropped out twice, social isolation, insane family fights, dad broke down and stopped caring, wrong friends, etc.

    • I’m not blaming external factors for everything, but looking back, it feels like external forces have more control over our lives than we think.

Vaastu link

It might sound flaky, but hear me out. I started studying Vaastu and Feng Shui, trying to find a scientific connection. Our house had an extreme skew in the southwest corner — the worst as per Vaastu. It’s said to cause tumors, cancer, kidney failures, heart issues, and lower abdomen or psychological issues for men in the family.

Coincidentally:

  • My mother developed uterine lumps and suffered for years before removing her uterus.

  • My dad developed heart issues in 2014, got better in 2019, but passed away in 2022 from heart-related ailments.

  • We fixed the Vaastu in 2019 — things improved, but my IBS and dad’s gut issues remained.

The final fix came when I studied molds and realized BLACK MOLD was causing many issues in our home. Folks, if you have black mold, clean and fix it ASAP — or move away. These microbes wreak havoc on the immune system and body. They practically hijack the mind, make you addicted to dopamine, and reduce rational thinking.

The link:
Extended southwest corner → high humidity + mold/fungi/algae growth.
They thrive in the west, as tall trees there reduce sunlight and increase humidity — perfect for mold/algae/fungus growth.

Astrology link

During my search for answers, I stumbled upon astrology and psychics. Many said there was a family curse and that descendants were paying for ancestral deeds.
A few astrologers told me to donate blood to fix my karma. That clue about “blood” led me to study deeper — and then I found this:

Genetic link

After my dad passed, my mom shared his struggles. I could draw parallels between his life and mine — severe body pain, yet he kept going with sheer willpower.
I started digging into genetics and found the MTHFR gene mutation. People with it often have weak digestion and poor liver detox ability (especially for heavy metals).

So my dad suffered gradually with age, while I experienced it earlier — probably worsened by lifestyle and exposure to toxins.

I also noticed most men from my dad’s side were dull and unmotivated — basically bums. Some were engineers in the ’70s, but still inactive. All had thinning hair, weak bodies, lacking ojas and tejas — the inner fire.

I had all that too, but this “ancestral curse” hit me harder after 18. That curse, IMO, is this MTHFR gene mutation — reducing digestive ability and toxin removal.( Elevated levels of heavy metals/toxins in blood) which might be why donating the blood could have potentially helped me in absence of chelation therapy.

Guess what — my hair was thinning more due to lead poisoning from exposure, and my body couldn’t eliminate it. The levels weren’t super high, but still unhealthy.
Now, after removing heavy metals with zeolite, my hair is growing thick and strong again. Gained motivation, drive, and zeal once more.

If you’ve come this far, I appreciate your patience — and I wish you good luck in regaining control of your life and living the best life you truly deserve.

You aren’t defeated until you accept defeat.

EDIT 1: Eat at hygienic and quality places only. It is easily to contract these sibo sifo parasites through them.

If your mother or father is still healthy and strong, ask them to mash the food with their hands well and feed you. You should get some good guys to your microbiome from that.

My mom sends voice messages for everything now. EVERYTHING. My mom sends voice messages for everything now. EVERYTHING.
People

My mom discovered WhatsApp voice messages about a month ago, and honestly, my life hasn't been the same since.

She sends a full 2-minute voice note just to say "bring milk on your way home." Not a text. Not a call. A voice message with full background commentary about how we're out of milk, what happened to the last packet, and why I should remember these things myself.

Yesterday was the peak. I was sitting literally in the same room as her, maybe 10 feet away, and it's a voice message from mom asking "chai peeyega?" I looked up at her and she's just casually sitting there like this is completely normal behavior.

It's like she forgot how to type. Everything is a voice message now. Grocery list? Voice message. Asking what time I'll be home? Voice message. Telling me food is ready when I'm upstairs? You guessed it, voice message.

But honestly, some of her voice notes are pure comedy. The way she pauses mid-sentence, the random background noises, dad yelling something in the background. It's better entertainment than half the reels I watch.

Have anyone else's parents discovered this feature, and now it's their entire personality? Or is it just my mom?

My 69-year-old grand father lost his ₹5.41 lakh Fixed Deposit in Axis Bank after a fake KYC OTP call — how can a bank allow this without his signature? My 69-year-old grand father lost his ₹5.41 lakh Fixed Deposit in Axis Bank after a fake KYC OTP call — how can a bank allow this without his signature?
Crime

I’m writing this with anger, pain, and disbelief.

My grand father is 69 years old, a retired schoolteacher, who spent his whole life honestly teaching and saving every rupee for his family. He had a Fixed Deposit of ₹5,41,099 in Axis Bank — his lifelong savings.

A few days ago, he got a call from someone pretending to be from the bank, saying, “Sir, please update your KYC or your account will be blocked.”

Trusting them, my grand father shared an OTP that came to his phone. Within minutes, his FD was broken, and the entire amount vanished.

No signature.

No written consent.

No in-person verification.

Just one OTP — and a lifetime of savings disappeared.

How can a reputed private bank like Axis Bank allow a Fixed Deposit to be closed without any physical authorization or signature? Is this what banking security means in our country today?

My grand mother is battling cancer and is under treatment. My grand father is emotionally shattered — not because of the money alone, but because the bank he trusted for decades failed to protect him.

We have filed a complaint with Axis Bank and have already registered the issue on cybercrime.gov.in. But we want answers.

Senior citizens are not tech experts. They trust banks with their hard-earned savings. If a simple OTP can destroy decades of trust and savings, who is responsible?

I request everyone reading this — please guide me on how to push this matter further. This isn’t just about one FD — it’s about the dignity and safety of every senior citizen in this country.

TL;DR:

My 69-year-old retired grand father lost his ₹5.41 lakh FD in Axis Bank after a fake KYC OTP scam. FD was closed without his signature or consent. My grand mother is under cancer treatment. We’ve filed complaints, but the emotional and financial loss is unbearable.

(UPDATE): SBI employees leaked my personal and banking data, Now senior officials are requesting to withdraw the complaint (UPDATE): SBI employees leaked my personal and banking data, Now senior officials are requesting to withdraw the complaint
Crime

So, it’s been about 6 months since I first posted about the SBI data breach where my personal and banking details were accessed and printed without authorization. Old post links are in comments, incase you want to know the full story.

A lot has happened since then, and it’s honestly been exhausting but eye-opening. I actually got hold of the CBS audit logs from SBI’s data centre in Belapur. The logs clearly show my data being fetched and printed from SBI branches 31045, 31822, and 11177. With that, I filed multiple RTIs to confirm what exactly happened. The replies were laughable — Lucknow Zone: “No data was breached.” Jaipur Zone: “This RTI is hypothetical in nature.” Like… what? I literally have the logs from your own system. So I filed first appeals — Lucknow’s FAA admitted that my data was fetched, but then said it wasn’t breached (don’t even know how that logic works), and Jaipur’s FAA copy-pasted the same vague reply. I went ahead and filed second appeals, which are still pending before the CIC. Meanwhile, my RBI Ombudsman complaint was in limbo all this while, until last week. RBI finally emailed me, attaching SBI’s official response where they again claimed, “no data breach occurred.”

I immediately sent back all my proof — the CBS logs, RTI trail, and emails. A few days later, I got an email from the SBI General Manager (Lucknow) admitting that yes, the data was fetched, but it was “on the request of another customer to check a transaction” and “not printed or shared.”

That was the moment I knew they were just shifting narratives. The logs literally say “PRINT,” with the exact branch code and operator ID.

And since then, the floodgates have opened — calls and emails from AGMs, GMs, Chief Managers, and Branch Managers, all politely (some desperately) asking me to withdraw the complaint.

To be honest, I might’ve considered closing it earlier, but after 6 months of denials, cover-ups, and fake replies, I’m not in the mood to let it slide. It’s not even about money anymore, it’s about accountability. They’ve been caught lying at multiple levels, and only now that I have written proof from their own systems, they’re panicking.

At this point, I’m deciding whether to:

  1. Let the Ombudsman and CIC process play out — which could officially confirm the breach and possibly get compensation through RBI, or

  2. Negotiate a settlement directly, since clearly they want this buried and off record. I can milk them more here.

I’m documenting everything — every email, every call, every piece of evidence — because this is way bigger than just one person’s data.

If SBI can’t even control internal access to customer data or admit when it’s breached, that’s a serious red flag for everyone banking there.

I posted on X. I hope you guys join. Tbh I can just settle and enjoy free money. I am fighting for a change. I hope you guys help. Tag SBI, RBI and other responsible bodied. X link is in comment.

If you take pride in your caste you are casteist If you take pride in your caste you are casteist
Culture & Heritage

Putting caste stickers on your vehicles isn't okay .

Asking people their full name to inquire about their caste is not okay.

Putting your caste name on Instagram bio doesn't make you look like a hero but an ignorant person.

Millions of people in this country have died mostly the one at the bottom of hierarchy and even the one in middle or top . Why? Because of caste . The politics of this country is in shithole due to caste and religion division. Your problem isn't reservation but casteism, the day caste system is out all of us can enjoy the so called merit system. I have been asked by foreigners that if only Brahmins are fair coloured or lower caste people are dark and ugly .. like what kind of ignorance is this ? People who study about India in other countries study about caste but i don't remember studying about the caste system in extreme detail since this is our own problem but i don't remember it being taught as a topic till the 10th std .

Instead of being vocal about reservation be vocal about the caste system. If there is no caste discrimination the reservation based on it will also collapse but why would they do it , instead of doing that most people take pride in it then rant about reservation.

Edit : Since some people are so dumb let me break it down for you . People have caste certificates so that the government policies reach them. You don't have an issue with thousand years of killings but you have a problem if that same section of people get some sort of benefit .

Most of you don't even know the difference between SC and ST or how even the reservation came into existence . Reservation is present in plenty of institutions even in commerce and humanities college .

My ancestors did this or that ? How are you sure they are your ancestors. There is something called as Sanskritization , you guys should read it . If you are so proud of their achievement you should also shoulder the blame if they killed innocent people. Doesn't make sense right ?

Honestly I don't know how marginalized people actually live but if i can have empathy and realise what's wrong with the caste system as a young person, people with a fully developed frontal lobe should be able to do better.

Edit 2: I don't understand how your caste is related to your culture and roots . For one point i can understand regionalism that people who grow around a particular geographical region have similar food , language and everything hence the feeling of regionalism which again is a huge menace to this society.

If the only identity you have is your surname there is something fundamentally wrong with you . I'm not telling you to remove your last name but you can't diminish the fact that it's used to inquire about caste . Having a last name doesn't make you a casteist but it's still a tool to discrimnate people. It can be your identity and it can be used as a way to identify people of different caste and discriminate against them .

What to do in a situation where it's certain that you'll end up getting raped? What to do in a situation where it's certain that you'll end up getting raped?
Culture & Heritage

So I'm 23F, luckily I've never found myself in such a situation, but the news or rapes and gang rapes everyday make me fear what if such a day may dawn upon me.

There are 2 possible plans of action.

The first one where it's certain that there's no way to run and I cant physically overpower them. So I'd just give up the fight and let them rape me. I'll maybe keep crying or something but won't resist them in the hope they would just do their thing and walk away.

The second is where I resist them with all my power to fight for my honor. But in this I fear they may get enraged and harm me in other ways like punching my face etc.

This really scares me. A friend of mine was gangraped by 3 guys couple of years back. She was 22 then. She was sexually active at that time as well. The exact details are very terrible, but what happened is she tried to fight back. She must hit the crotch of one of them and he got so enraged he started punching her like a bag. She had a broken rib and almost lost her eye. What i can't seem to understand is that how could she get internal injuries in her private parts if she's alrwady sexually active. What must the guys have done? Was it coz she was resisting?

The harsh truth about being middle class in India The harsh truth about being middle class in India
People

A software engineer earning ₹50,000 a month works day and night trying to build a decent life. He buys a small plot, pays GST on every brick and tile, hires labour, and takes a home loan that runs for 20 or 30 years. Half his life goes into EMIs and interest.

He pays taxes honestly. He follows every rule. He sacrifices comfort just to stay stable.

And still, he gets nothing for free. If he misses even one EMI, his family’s entire security is at risk. One bad month and they could lose everything.

At the same time, the government proudly gives away free flats and free ration to crores of people. Eighty crore citizens out of 140 crore still depend on government ration. If more than half the country still needs free food to survive, what kind of development are we really talking about?

And why give free flats? A house should be something people earn through hard work, not a gift handed out for votes. Instead of giving away permanent assets built from taxpayers’ money, the government should focus on creating real opportunities like jobs, skill development, and small business support so that people can earn their homes with dignity.

These endless freebies don’t help anyone in the long run. They create dependency and kill motivation. Meanwhile, the middle class quietly carries the weight of the entire system.

I know I might get some hate for being this bold, but this is how a lot of us actually feel. We are not asking for free stuff. We are asking for fairness. A country grows when effort is rewarded, not when dependency is encouraged.

A Cautionary Tale for Foreigners in India Visiting the FRRO in New Delhi, Do Not Expect to Be Treated as Anything More Than Subhuman. A Cautionary Tale for Foreigners in India Visiting the FRRO in New Delhi, Do Not Expect to Be Treated as Anything More Than Subhuman.
Law & Courts

A warning to all foreigners in India who may seek assistance from the FRRO office in New Delhi: Expect to receive little to no help if there is any nuance in your situation.

My partner and I were instructed by the SDM office, Daryaganj to gain clarification regarding her passport and visa so we travelled to the FRRO office located in New Delhi.

We were greeted in the office by the officer situated at the desk shouting at an elderly couple. Their error? Daring to ask why they were being denied exit from India and being forced to apply for an exit permit. The older gentleman stated that to solve this issue, he needed to understand why he was being denied exit. The officer shouted at him, insisting that the gentleman had no business knowing why he was being detained despite having no apparent issues with his visa.

This was a clear indicator for the disrespect and utter negligence that was to follow.

When it was our turn to approach the counter, my partner and I gave a brief description of our issue: Our marriage process was on hold until the SDM office received clarification specifically from the FRRO about my partner’s passport and visa (the expiration dates are one month apart which is apparently a cause for concern). The SDM office had sent multiple emails to the FRRO over the previous weeks and none had been acknowledged, thus, we were looking to see if there was an unknown issue stalling the process.

We weren’t even met with eye contact. Furthermore, upon hearing that we were set to be married, the officer asked if we’d applied for a visa conversion. We stated that we had indeed started the process, but that we needed this clarification before the SDM would solemnize our marriage, completing the process.

The officer briefly glanced at us with disdain before exclaiming loudly to the entire room that we were fools for applying for a visa conversion without completing the marriage first. We tried to explain that although we had indeed started the visa conversion application, the purpose of our visit was to get the clarification that the SDM office had demanded, or at the very least be reassured that the emails had been received and would be replied to, not to convert my partner's visa.

We pleaded once more that we just needed clarification, simply reassuring us that the SDM office’s emails would be replied to would be sufficient. To this the officer spat, "Who are you?” followed by “Who are you to ask?”.

Being treated this deplorably by someone who is supposed to be a public servant, there to assist, was beyond disgusting. My partner and I are simply trying to get married, we just wanted to make sure that there were no unforeseen holdups inhibiting the FRRO office’s reply to the SDM office.

Deciding that we were no longer worthy of his non-existent assistance, the officer told us to go, flicking his hand to shoo us away. We were dismissed akin to how one might treat a street dog.

It’s shocking that someone who has hopefully earned his position would treat people in need with such an indifferent attitude. Throughout this whole visit, we were made to feel as though we were inconveniencing the people whose job is to help.

If your situation has any nuance whatsoever, or you are requesting anything other than a one or two word answer, you should prepare to face a needlessly difficult experience with this agency.

I certainly hope this situation improves. Public servants, holding positions made to assist people, should not be this disrespectful and unhelpful. I am appalled at how my partner and I were treated at this office. It seems as though seeking basic information or clarification while also being treated with respect is too much for this office to handle. We weren’t looking for special treatment, maintaining basic respect is all that was necessary.

My mother in law and her brother had a scooter accident last week. She fractured her arm, and her brother’s face and hand are all swollen and bruised, thankfully no fractures.

My wife’s younger sister lives in Bangalore and works in IT. She asked her company if she could work from home for 1 month since my MIL literally can’t move or do anything right now.

They asked for proof, she literally sent them MRI scans, the police report. They scheduled a meeting, just to tell her no and how they have very less bandwidth in their team.

Like… wtf? She didn’t even ask for leave, just WFH. And her job doesn’t even need her to be in the office. My wife is staying with her for now, till she gets better.

It gets worse, her brother (the one from the accident) was given only two days off and then told to come back to work. His younger brother now drops and picks him up every single day because he’s still in pain.

I always heard about how big corporates lack empathy (mr robot), but watching it happen honestly hit different. It’s disgusting

Do Indians confuse being ‘literate’ with being ‘educated’? My experience at a Delhi movie theater. Do Indians confuse being ‘literate’ with being ‘educated’? My experience at a Delhi movie theater.
Culture & Heritage

TL:DR at the end, but recommend to read the entire post. Thanks!

Yesterday, my husband and I went to watch a movie at the new Cinépolis in V3S. We usually avoid that theater, but since they opened a new one with Dolby sound — and because we didn’t want to be away too long from our 7-month-old baby who was in care of my husband's family — we decided to give it a try.

The movie started fine, until a group of 4–5 young women (probably in their 20s, likely working professionals) began chatting loudly, reacting to every scene, and talking among themselves as if they were at home. I kept ignoring it till the interval, but after the break, it got worse.

So, I finally turned around and said politely, “Have you forgotten you’re in a public place?”

Their response: “This isn’t a public place. We’re here to enjoy. If you have a problem, you can leave.”

I replied calmly, “Why should I leave? I’ve paid for my seat too. You can enjoy quietly without disturbing others.” They got louder and said things like, “Hum toh chillayenge, jo karna hai kar lo.”

At that point, it wasn’t about the noise — it was about the mindset. These were people who seemed educated, but clearly lacked basic civic sense or respect for others. It made me wonder — if this is how some behave in their own cities, how do they act abroad as tourists or professionals?

We often talk about how India’s global image is affected or why visa approvals are getting tougher — but behavior like this also plays a part. Being literate is easy; being educated is about how we behave when no one’s watching.

Sometimes, I genuinely feel we need civic sense lessons more than 3D glasses. 😅

Has anyone else faced something similar in theaters, flights, or restaurants? How do you handle such situations?

TL;DR: Went to Cinépolis V3S for a movie. A group kept shouting through the film. When I politely asked them to lower their voice, they said, “If you have a problem, leave.” Made me realize — literacy ≠ education. Civic sense matters more than degrees.

My 23-Year-Old Sister Was Married to a 39-Year-Old Man My 23-Year-Old Sister Was Married to a 39-Year-Old Man
Law & Courts

I never thought I’d be writing this, but I need to get it out. Maybe someone will understand. Maybe someone’s been through something similar.

My sister is 23. She was married yesterday to a man who’s 39. The marriage was arranged by our grandfather. We don’t have a father, and we live in our grandfather’s house with our mother. That means everything; our shelter, our safety is under his control.

When the marriage was first discussed, I told my grandfather I wanted to verify the boy. I said I’d check his background, his documents, his family. He abused me. Told me, “Who are you to do verification? You’re no one.” He made it clear I had no say. Then he went himself with one of his friends and selected the boy. No one else was involved.

I told my sister privately, “Let me verify first.” But my grandfather told her, “If you listen to him, he’ll ruin your life. Don’t talk to him.” She stopped speaking to me. She didn’t tell me anything not the boy’s name, not his photo, nothing. I was completely isolated from the process.

And I’ll be honest: I made a mistake. I should’ve verified him anyway. I let my ego get in the way. I thought, “If they won’t involve me, I won’t interfere.” That was wrong. I regret it deeply.

On the wedding day, I stayed in my room. I didn’t attend. I didn’t know what was happening. Later, I saw the groom’s photo and I was shocked. He looked extremely old. I asked my friend to check his DOB & he's did something and showed me DOB of his Aadhaar card. He’s 39. My sister is 23. The age gap is huge. Everyone who saw him was surprised.

I called my sister after the wedding. She cried. She said, “This is not right. Whatever you say, I’ll do.” But now she’s stuck. There’s no excuse for her to come home. If she returns, people will talk. And worse my grandfather might throw all of us out. Me, my sister, and my mother. We have nowhere else to go.

The groom’s background is worrying. His family is very very poor. They live in a crumbling house from the 1990s with 2 rooms only. The groom claimed he owns property in a city, but no one verified it. My grandfather told us different things first that he’s a doctor, then that he works in a clinic, then something else. No one knows what he actually does.

The irony is that my grandfather has a good house. There’s alot of land in my grandfathers name. He takes 25k as pension , has 2 shops. But he chose a man from a struggling family. My sister said “no” many times during the process. But she was emotionally cornered.

Now she wants out and I want to help her. I want to protect her. But I’m afraid of losing our home. I’m still studying. I have no income. I want to get both my sisters married together after 4–5 years when I’m stable. But right now, I’m stuck.

I spoke to an elder. He said if my sister tries to leave, the groom might demand a huge penalty; ₹50 lakh or more. I don't know if this is true or not.

(Note: I asked an AI to help me improve the writing so the story would be clearer for readers. English isn’t my strong point, but I wanted to make sure everything is understood properly.)

I got scammed today and I can’t stop crying I got scammed today and I can’t stop crying
Crime

I usually don’t get holidays from work, but this time I had to because I bought a used bike a few months ago and wanted to transfer it to my name since I’m the second owner. So I went to PCMC and spent some time there for the paperwork and everything.

While it was happening, I was getting multiple calls from work asking, “Where are you? How long will it take?” I told them I’d be back in an hour, but just reaching there took me one hour itself. It was already a frustrating day.

After the transfer work, I was on my way back and wanted to eat something since I was low on funds. I have a low salary and a lot of expenses to manage, so I just stopped to eat two vada pavs and then continued toward the office.

Just before entering Bhujbal Chowk bridge, two guys on a bike came beside me and said, “Your rear tyre looks flat.” I immediately started feeling something was wrong with the bike maybe it was psychological, but I got worried. I stopped at a random puncture shop nearby to check.

The guy there said one puncture would cost ₹100. I tried to negotiate, said maybe ₹80, but he insisted on ₹100. I had no option, so I agreed.

He found one puncture, fixed it, and then somehow “found” more. After rolling the tyre a bit, suddenly there were four or five more punctures. I don’t know how maybe I missed it or maybe something else happened, but there were now multiple punctures. While he was doing this, I think someone might have punctured my front tyre too, because later he showed me both tyres had issues around 8–9 punctures in total.

I got confused and started blaming myself or even my friend who took my bike last week, thinking maybe he rode it somewhere near nails.

Then the guy told me, “Instead of fixing all these, it’ll cost too much and also damage the tyre. Better to put a sealant a special liquid that prevents punctures for one year.”

He showed me a bottle with an MRP of ₹1,150 and said it costs ₹1,250. He fixed three punctures, added the sealant, and said the front tyre also needs it because it’s in bad condition. I was completely vulnerable at that moment, so I said okay.

In the end, he charged me ₹2,800. I bargained and gave him ₹2,600. And just like that, all my money was gone.

I didn’t even have enough left for food or other things. I’m already struggling financially, not even sending money home because my expenses are tight. At night, I just lay on my bed crying, feeling miserable.

Later, I searched online and that’s when I found out this whole thing is a scam. So many people have gone through the same thing. There are multiple videos and threads saying it’s a popular scam where they puncture your tyre themselves and sell you fake “sealant.”

I cried even more after realising this. People will do anything to take advantage of others no matter your background, caste, or financial condition. They target vulnerable people like us, and they feel happy after scamming someone struggling to survive.

I don’t know why people are like this. I don’t know what to do. I just feel broken right now.

Living in India is getting unbearable. The corruption is everywhere. Living in India is getting unbearable. The corruption is everywhere.
Politics

Guys, living in India is honestly so difficult. It’s so corrupted, you can’t even imagine.

We already pay GST, taxes, and whatnot — literally on everything. But still, you’ll find shop owners adding random “extra” charges like “cooling charges” or “packing fees.” Like bro, what even? These are illegal, and people like me who actually know the rules end up arguing. And when I do, everyone around says,

“It’s just 3-4 rupees, why are you getting angry? Just give them.”

But why should I? If I had 3-4 rupees less, they wouldn’t give me the food, right? So why should I pay them extra just because they can get away with it?

Today I had an incident that really got to me. I went to a doctor — fine, doctors can charge their consultation fee, I get that. But then, when you buy medicines from their clinic or nearby pharmacy, they don’t give you full strips. They just give you how much you need — like 5 tablets instead of 10. And they’ll give you a bill, so naturally, you trust them and go home.

But when I got back and checked, I realized they’d overcharged me by ₹30. Like, why? India sends medicines for free to other countries, yet here we pay insane prices — and on top of that, get cheated for a few rupees.

And this isn’t just about shops or pharmacies. Even government offices are filled with the same corruption. My mother works in a government department. She recently had surgery and had to get her medical reimbursement from the office.

Even though she was sick, she collected all the bills and documents herself and submitted them properly. But in these offices, they’ll reject your file multiple times without giving clear instructions — just so you’ll come back again and again.

And eventually, you end up paying the staff to do their job. My mom literally paid ₹500 to the guy who handles reimbursements — just to process her file, which is literally his job and for which he already gets a salary!

Now it’s been a month, and when she went back to ask about the status, the guy said,

“I haven’t sent your file yet.”

She reminded him that she had already paid him, and he just said,

“Go, I won’t do it. What will you do?”

Basically, he wants more money. For a ₹50,000 bill, he already took ₹500 and now he wants even more.

It’s honestly exhausting. Everywhere — from a medicine shop to a government office — you have to pay extra just to get what’s already your right.

People say “India is growing,” “India is shining,” but how are we supposed to grow when basic honesty and responsibility don’t exist at the ground level?

What do you even do in such situations? Like genuinely, how do you fight this system without losing your mind?

The most forgotten group in Indian politics: 2.33 crore salaried taxpayers. The most forgotten group in Indian politics: 2.33 crore salaried taxpayers.
Policy/Economy

With the ongoing elections some thoughts.

Let’s talk about the one group that keeps India running — and somehow gets zero policy attention.

The 2.33 crore salaried taxpayers of India.

You pay your taxes on time. You follow every rule. You don’t block roads, burn buses, or call strikes. You quietly keep the economy alive.

And yet… when it comes to actual policy, you’re invisible.

Think about what you deal with every single day: • Weak consumer protection • Declining private healthcare quality • Unreliable insurance • High and uneven tax slabs • Zero social safety net • Skewed reservation and subsidy systems • Endless bureaucracy • And of course, politicians who remember you only during budget memes.

Here’s something wild — I tried a prompt on multiple AI tools:

“List Indian politicians who have consistently raised issues of the salaried and middle class — like high income tax, poor consumer protection, healthcare costs, lack of social security, bureaucratic inefficiency, and reservation imbalances. Include all parties, only real action or debates.”

The result? Out of ~5,300 MPs and MLAs, barely a handful show up.

A few speeches here and there, but no real policy, no follow-through. Once the elections end, silence.

Next time someone comes asking for your vote, ask them one simple question:

“What have you actually done for the salaried taxpayer?”

Not what you said. Not what you promised. What you did — in Parliament, in committees, in budgets.

Because if we keep staying silent, we’ll keep staying invisible.

We don’t need pity. We need representation. We need policy. We need a voice.

So maybe it’s time — to reflect, organize, and be heard.

Why Do We Still Wait With Appointments? Explained - Two-Hour “Ten-Minute” Visits Why Do We Still Wait With Appointments? Explained - Two-Hour “Ten-Minute” Visits
Science/Technology

My background is math + business; I build products with startups. I frame most messes as either resource-constrained or design-constrained. At public sector touchpoints we mostly suffer the latter. (eg: IRCTC billion-dollar org website UX.)

Here I talk about my experience at passport office yesterday.

tldr: Not a rant. but a scientific explanation and evaluation fo the service -

There are four steps and processing times

  1. Token desk – gives you a number; > 2-3 minutes

  2. Counter A – the meaty step (fingerprints + doc check) > 3-4 minutes

  3. Counter B – quick check > 1-2 minutes

  4. Counter C – another quick check > 1-2 minutes.

All four together take about 10 minutes of real work and I waited about 120 minutes between counters, spending about 130 minutes. I am going to evaluate this from an Operations angle and avoid any virtue signalling or ranting.

Key Points :

  1. Theoretically it is possible to have 0 wait times, but obviously not in real life. I will evaluate this as a ratio of total time / processing time taken for a real life system and rate accordingly .

  2. This is not random flow : people can come in by appointment only . Some would be no-shows , So inflow is =< than planned only.

  3. Appointments are released in batches.

Assumptions

Capacity :

Counter Service time (min/person) Desks Capacity per desk (people/hour) Total capacity (people/hour)
Token 2.5 2 60 / 2.5 = 24.0 48.0
A (fingerprints + docs) 3.5 3 60 / 3.5 = 17.142… 51.42
B 1.5 2 60 / 1.5 = 40.0 80.0
C 1.5 2 60 / 1.5 = 40.0 80.0

Assume 30 people all show at 10:00 AM. With the above staffing, here’s the journey for #10, #20, #30

Person Token (start → finish) A (start → finish) B (start → finish) C (start → finish) Done
#10 10.0 → 12.5 13.5 → 17.0 17.0 → 18.5 18.5 → 20.0 20.0
#20 22.5 → 25.0 26.0 → 29.5 29.5 → 31.0 31.0 → 32.5 32.5
#30 35.0 → 37.5 38.5 → 42.0 42.0 → 43.5 43.5 → 45.0 45.0

Averages:

  • First finisher ≈ 9 minutes (no queue)

  • Last finisher ≈ 45 minutes

  • Average total time ≈ (9 + 45)/2 ≈ 27 minutes

  • Average waiting ≈ 27 − 10 = ~17 minutes

So, in a batch-but-adequately-staffed hour, most people should be 20–35 minutes door-to-door, worst case ~45.

Key takeaway*: even with adequate staffing, the last person in the 30-pack still finishes around 45 minutes ! , while the first is out in 10 minutes. This is perhaps the most non-intuitive take away, and why we see clashing reviews by people for a service and both are correct !!.*

Final rating based on my experience :

My actual: ~130 minutes total for ~10 minutes of work → flow ratio = 13×.

Benchmarks for this kind of office:

  • Excellent:15 min total (≤ 1.5×)

  • Good: 15–25 min (1.5–2.5×)

  • Average: 25–50 min (2.5–5×)

  • Poor: 50–100 min (5–10×)

  • Very bad: >100 min (>10×)

Even if I pulled the short straw and was last in the batch, the math tops out around 45 min not 130!. Two hours means something else broke. We don’t need more people, need better choreography. Same headcount, and most days you’re out in 15–25 minutes, with better design.

Swiggy has a huge data security issue and they are doing nothing to address it. Swiggy has a huge data security issue and they are doing nothing to address it.

So, for a second time, some scamsters managed to get my number after I ordered from Swiggy. About 15 minutes after ordering, I got a call from someone claiming to be from the restaurant saying the delivery rider had been in an accident and they will need to dispatch my order personally and so I’ll get a refund from Swiggy but will have to pay COD / UPI to the delivery person.

I refused to do this because about a year ago, this same thing happened and it turned out to be a scam. I did get a refund that time but the restaurant guy told me they get no compensation for the loss in such cases and the scamsters pocket the money they get from us.

At that time (as in, after the incident last year) I also pushed to get the issue escalated because I was concerned about my privacy and security (the scamster had my number and came to my doorstep to deliver the order). The response I got was a generic “the issue is highlighted to our concerned team and necessary action will be taken against the delivery partner as per the internal protocol”. They did not disclose what was the action being taken and what was being done to address my worries.

Now today also I immediately informed customer care. Their representative called the rider and he said he was on the way to pick up my order. Few minutes later my order was shown as out for delivery. And then few minutes later i got a call again from the same number saying he is the rider and he has had an accident and that i should ask swiggy to cancel my order. I asked this guy what’s your name? He said “what will you do with my name”. So I said I will confirm it with the name showing on the app. His response was: “let me check and tell you what’s my name”. LOL

That was all the confirmation I needed to know that this was indeed a scam and i hung up. After that, i got 7-8 calls from the scamster which i rejected. I also called Swiggy after that but by this time my order was cancelled. I told everything that happened to the agent and his response was: I don’t understand what your issue is because your order has been canceled and a refund has been initiated. I told him that my issue was that some scamsters got my number after I ordered from Swiggy and this rude af customer care guy proceeded to try to convince me that Swiggy is not at fault because the number I got the calls from did not belong to Swiggy. He also tried to lecture me saying “you know there are a lot of bad people out there so you’ve got to be careful”.

YEAH NO SHIT.

I tried to explain to him that this was exactly why I was complaining but he kept dismissing me saying it’s not Swiggy’s problem that scamsters got my number. I told him: these particular scamsters got my number AFTER I ordered from Swiggy.. you don’t see the problem with that? After that he was like “yeah I’ll take down a complaint, is there anything else I can help you with?” and then he had the audacity to say “do give me a positive review for this call okay”. I called customer care again 15 minutes later to see if a complaint had been registered - and of course it wasn’t.

How hard can it be to understand that this is a serious security concern? If I hadn’t been aware and didn’t know of these scams, this scamster would have actually come to my address to deliver that order. This is not just a privacy nightmare but a huge security concern too.

And what these events clearly show is that Swiggy is doing absolutely nothing to plug the data breaches that are allowing this scamming activity to happen through their app. An incident like this has never ever occurred to me via Zomato. And, clearly, Swiggy is so callous about these incidents that they have not even sensitised their customer service agents on how to address them and our concerns.

Today ICICI bank deduct 1lakh+ from current account as non maintenance charges. Today ICICI bank deduct 1lakh+ from current account as non maintenance charges.
Business/Finance

We are a startup, and we keep our current account at a near-zero balance most of the time as we don't have funds earlier. Today, we transferred 1,05,000 from our savings account to the current account to pay salaries. However, the entire amount was deducted as non-maintenance charges for the period from December 22 to today.

This is strange because:

  1. Last month, we transferred 10,000 to the current account for salaries, and there were no deductions.

  2. In some previous months, we were charged 500 for non-maintenance, but it never amounted to this large a deduction.

  3. For the past three months, we have been regularly transferring small amounts (5,000 to 10,000) to the current account for salaries, and there were no issues before.

Recently, I received an SMS about a quarterly balance requirement of ₹1 lakh for the current account, so we transferred this amount to ensure compliance. But now, the entire sum has been deducted for non-maintenance charges.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue? Can anyone advise what steps I should take to resolve this and potentially get the money refunded?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The application process for a foreigner to get an Indian tourist visa is probably the most awkward one in the whole world (and is possibly losing India some tourists) The application process for a foreigner to get an Indian tourist visa is probably the most awkward one in the whole world (and is possibly losing India some tourists)
Travel

I'm originally from India but have lived in the UK for a long time and now have a UK passport. Here's my experience with trying to get an Indian tourist visa.

  1. Finding information on pricing is difficult to impossible. There is the 30 day tourist visa and 1-year and 5 year options. There is NO page on any Indian government site listing all the options and the price for each one so visitors can choose and then go apply. I'm sure people will post links below to dispute this but, go ahead, post, and I'll tell you why that page is crap. Crap design is not an accident, it's a feature built into the Indian visa applications.

  2. Indian visa applications ask the most ridiculous and completely idiotic questions. They are a masterclass in nonsense and demand unnecessary and totally useless data. Bureaucracy for bureaucracy sake! My parents died 50 years ago but the visa application demands father and mother's name, nationality, place of birth and what not. If you do not have that information - say you are an orphan or something - you cannot complete the application as those are all mandatory fields! There is also no option to mark parents as "deceased" or "late".

  3. The form asks for a national ID number. Maybe Indians have been forced to comply with that Aadhar nonsense (and all the problems associated with it - from breaches of data to the poorest people being excluded from government services), but in the UK we have always resisted any National ID. There are other countries where there is no national ID. So the national ID field being a compulsory field in the visa application is stupid. Was it the intention to exclude all visitors from countries where there is no National ID? Probably not! So why is this a compulsory question?

  4. You have to choose a religion! Why? But okay, they want it (maybe just to do more detailed checks on Muslims). However, there is no option for Atheist. So, basically, unless one subscribes to some imaginary being in the sky, one can't enter India? The closest option is "Other" but I don't have an "other" religion. I have NO religion. There is no option for that. The assumption is that everyone has a religion (pretty stupid!)

  5. Another compulsory field is name, phone number etc of someone in India who can serve as a "reference". And, guess what? One's not enough. You need two! And you need to provide full details for BOTH of them. FFS!

  6. There's a question about whether I've ever visited India before. If I choose "yes", I've got to provide all kinds of information like the visa number I was issued at the time. But I didn't need a visa back then when I visited a decade go, I had an Indian passport (despite having been a British resident for 30 years). I have a British passport now but this is the first visit to India on the British passport. They don't seem to have accounted for situations like this. So I had to say "No" to the question about whether I ever visited India (which, technically, is untrue, but I can't proceed with the application unless I provide that answer).

  7. There is one field that asks if your grandparents were ever Pakistani (!). If you choose no and save the form, when you return to it, it defaults back to "yes" automatically. All other inputted data stays the same (a small blessing) but this field changes (sometimes, not always!)!

It takes someone exceptionally stupid to design a form like this one!

And this visa application rigmarole is against a backdrop where most countries just give us a visa on arrival. Even countries famous for bureaucracy, like the Philippines, don't ask for all this bullsh*t.

Why is India so awkward and how many visitors is India's tourism sector losing because of the unnecessary detail demanded in the visa application form?

I expect this post to get downvoted, so do go ahead, but it would be even better if you display more intelligence than the form designers and explain why you disagree with me (or what justification there is for any of the above).

<added: Just for clarity, all of the above is in relation to applying for an e-visa. I'm adding this because several people seem to be suggesting that I apply for an e-visa.

One more thing - the solution of going OCI, like several have suggested, is even more cumbersome, difficult, time consuming and expensive (it costs 5x as much). Besides, applying for an OCI to make a single trip for a couple of weeks ...is overkill. It's more suited to those who visit India on a regular basis.>

Is it possible that continuous financial problems are linked to astrology or some spiritual reason? Is it possible that continuous financial problems are linked to astrology or some spiritual reason?
Careers

I don’t usually believe in astrology or spiritual stuff, but my family has been stuck in the same financial situation for the last 10–15 years. Before covid, things were at least manageable, but after that everything just kept getting worse.

Every business or project we start somehow gets stuck midway or ends in loss. Even the money we lend to people never comes back. From covid till now, we’re just managing daily expenses — nothing really gets saved.

And before anyone says it’s poor money management — well, to manage money, you first need money that stays. Whatever comes in, goes out almost immediately for some or the other reason. It genuinely feels like something blocks us every time things start to look better.

Sometimes I feel like maybe it’s something spiritual — like “panauti lag gayi hai,” “sade saati chal rahi hai,” or maybe we need to do some “ghar shanti.” I don’t really believe in this stuff, but honestly, it’s hard not to think about it after so many years of the same problems.

Has anyone else faced something like this in their family? Do you think there could be any astrological or spiritual connection to it?

I am a Bihari and sorry to you guys that I born. I am a Bihari and sorry to you guys that I born.
People

I am at a national Law University in Maharashtra, and it is my second year here. Now, I regret being born as a Bihari because apparently, people think that I am an illiterate laborer. It is sometimes very hard to have a normal conversation with people here regarding any issue, per se.

I was recently talking to an F1 fan, and I casually asked that you post a story regarding the Ferrari losing a match. He replied that "Iss baar race bihar mee hua, that's why logo ne road chura lii". I acted casually because for 1 year, it has been my mistake to reveal to someone that I am a Bihari.

One day, like this only, I was talking to someone regarding tanning and skin-related issues. The person replied that "bhai tere yaha toh saare log labor honge, toh color sabka fade hoga hii" and the last incident was like, we were ordering food from Fasoos, but I never ate from Fasoos because I generally only prefer Burger King, the person said "Bihar mee abhi tak nhi aaya hoga".

I know, some of you genuinely joke regarding some of the elements of the state where you belong to but it is not necessary to joke around about this in every conversation.

I am almost out of patience and respect for my state. Jokes can be funny, I understand, but sometimes they feel degrading. When I was a child, I used to think people were not divided on any parameters, but now it just feels pathetic to me. It was more disappointing from a state likeMaharashtraa which calls itself a developed state. I know, Bihar is not a great state, and the system, including society and Government, both have failed us, but we are genuinely trying to improve. The next generation will surely bring some peace.

I will be posting this text in some other Reddit pages also, because issues like this really don't get support, so please don't consider me spam or a bot.

We can no longer hide behind the excuse that we're a poor country We can no longer hide behind the excuse that we're a poor country
Policy/Economy

Our cities are filthy, unwalkable, extremely unaesthetic, and overall just a chaotic pile of things, people, animals, and dirt. Go to almost any random street – broken roads, footpaths broken or just dirt/dust between the road and buildings, run down concrete structures with plastic/metal sheets hanging out, a little open drain here and there, garbage and dirt around.

Yes, India is still a low to lower middle income country. But of late, many Indians have been going to similarly lower (middle) income countries in Asia and Africa and we have Google Street View everywhere. Countries like Vietnam have similar incomes as richer Indian states (15-20k USD by PPP). But the cleanliness, urban spaces, as well as aesthetic sense are leagues ahead of anywhere in India. Rwanda, a country much poorer than India, is becoming renowned for being extremely clean and safe.

Now you might say that these countries have authoritarian regimes and laws. Singapore is another diverse Asian country that became one of the richest in the world through Draconian measures. So it seems democracy only works in homogeneous populations.

Until you consider Mauritius. It's an island country where Indians, Chinese, Africans, and some Europeans were brought together and forced to mingle. Half the population is Hindu. It is now a high income country with advanced infrastructure and quality of life. And it's a democracy with a democracy index score above those of most European nations and the US.

So low income or democracy in a diverse society is not what's stopping India from progressing. Mindset is the only explanation. We're content to accept the deplorable conditions we have and focus on religious and ethnic divisions as well as moral outrage at trivial issues.

Why is this variation all over india? Why is this variation all over india?
Culture & Heritage

Something i never understand but why all south indian (basically kerala and tamil nadu) and west bengal are so naturally good at singing and dancing and every art form.

I really feel about it because being from north india, i could never find a good kathak or bharatnatyam lessons around me and i really miss that childhood part when my friend who lived in a society where all are mostly south indians itself in my state delhi used to have events and fests to celebrate their culture.

I actually understand they start learning it from very young age but they are also naturally very god gifted at it and same one can say about chess players damn i mean even there are more engineers and IITIANs from south and even more people belong to south india who now live abroad and have generations there. We also have more singers from these states who are widely renown

This is actually not any kind of racist post please don't misunderstand it that way but i genuinely want to understand why is it so? When i asked my mom she replied me because they mostly pray to goddess saraswati and goddess kali, they are blessed by devi maa (and i seriously want to know what to do to impress maa saraswati 😭😭 to be that good at every art and knowledge form)

People in Hyderabad seriously don’t know how to drive People in Hyderabad seriously don’t know how to drive
People

Having lived in seven different states in India, nothing compares to the sheer disregard for road safety I’ve witnessed in Hyderabad. The driving habits here are hazardous and honestly, it’s become a daily struggle just to get where I need to go. Many drivers overtake from the left even when intending to take a right turn, often putting everyone around them at risk. Sudden braking is the norm—people don’t hesitate to stop abruptly even if it means almost causing collisions. And traffic signals? They’re treated like suggestions. It’s common to see vehicles speeding through red lights, making it nearly impossible for drivers with the green signal to cross safely. Basic rules and courtesy seem nonexistent. Every journey here feels unsafe and unpredictable. It’s not just frustrating, it’s frightening. To make things worse, the police seem more interested in taking pictures than actually improving road safety. Their presence doesn’t translate into genuine enforcement or meaningful change.

Anyone else living in Hyderabad face this daily nightmare?

Customer didn’t pick up, so I gave the food to transgenders instead Customer didn’t pick up, so I gave the food to transgenders instead
Food

A week ago, I had my last delivery of the night around 15 km from my home. The customer only mentioned a number like “3” or “5” as the address. I called right after picking up the food, but he never answered. I still went to the location, which turned out to be a shady area about 5-6 km from the restaurant. Tried calling him multiple times, even contacted delivery app support, but no help. I waited there for more than 30 minutes, asking around the neighborhood, but no one knew the customer. It was already around 11 PM, so I finally marked the order as “delivered” and left. I was super angry the food (chicken curry and ghee rice) was from a well-known restaurant, and I didn’t want it to go to waste. Since I’m vegetarian, I couldn’t eat it myself. On my way back home, I saw a couple of transgenders near the highway. I’d never spoken to any before, but I stopped and asked if they’d had dinner. They were surprised at first, then said no. I told them the situation and offered the food. They hesitated for a moment, then accepted it happily and thanked me. I left smiling not sure why, but it just felt right. At least the food didn’t go to waste.

Theft Attempt During Bank Network Repair Work Theft Attempt During Bank Network Repair Work
Crime

We own a two-floor building in our town. The second floor is rented to a bank for more than 20 years, and their Wi-Fi tower is installed on our rooftop. A few days ago, two technicians from Tata Wi-Fi came (called by the bank due to network issues). To reach the tower, they needed to go through our first floor, where our family lives.

They went to the roof around 10 AM. Later around 3 PM, my father went up to check something related to our solar setup and noticed several items missing from the rooftop area. We live in a joint family, and we always keep the roof locked, so we were sure no family member went there.

When my father questioned the technicians, they denied taking anything. After some argument, they opened their bags and showed nothing. But when my father checked again, he noticed a hidden compartment in one of their bags where our missing items were found.

Even after the items were literally found in their bag, they kept claiming they didn’t know anything. We immediately informed the bank manager. Because we have a long and respectful relationship with the bank, they came quickly. After confrontation, the technicians apologized.

This incident shocked us. If someone can steal inside our own home area, where our children live, then anything could happen. Trust matters, and this completely broke it.

From now on, no outside technician will be allowed on our roof unless: • They come with proper verification, and • A responsible bank officer is present with them.

Security and family safety come first.

Today, God has revealed to me the true purpose behind why Satan created Hinduism. Today, God has revealed to me the true purpose behind why Satan created Hinduism.
Religion

Today, God has revealed to me the true purpose behind why Satan created Hinduism. Satan designed Hinduism for one purpose, force. On the surface, Hindus may claim they only want people to accept idol worship, but the deeper goal is far more dangerous, they want to force people to accept their, past life parents and prevent them from rejecting those ties to become true sons and daughters of God.

Hindus may try to use pressure or even violence to make you conform, but remember this, nothing in this world that is built on force can ever last. That is why this evil spiritual bondage will ultimately fall before those who have died a spiritual death in Christ.

In my past life, I carried the burden of sin, but I died and was born again in Jesus Christ as a new creation. No demon can prevail against me, because I am a son of God/Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who's the Creator of the Universe and all existence Himself.

Hinduism, at its very core, represents the bondage of the old life and its ties to the past life parents. But the moment you choose to die to your past life and its attachments, that religion loses all its power and it dies.

Amen! ⚡❤️⚡

20F father still hits me what can I do ? Help 20F father still hits me what can I do ? Help
Crime

So I am from lower middle class. My father (49) earns 40k a month, he's a Zomato delivery man (part-time), salesman, and rent. I just turned 20, and he still hits me. Belt, chokes, slaps, hammer. Why? Because if I wear sleeveless, says I want to cut my hair (we are sikh) , short shirts, or talk back, it’s done. If I call out his wrong opinions, I’m done.

It was always like this. When I was 5-6, I wanted to see one of his friends. I kept asking, so he hit me so hard my mouth bled. Another time, a guy gave me chocolate. He started hitting and slapping me on road infront of everyone so hard I fell. He’d pick me up by my legs, hit me again, I’d fall again—loop. People tried stopping him. He never listened.

It still goes on.

We’re so poor and also I depend on him for college fees, books and travel. I’m tired. My self-respect, my life everything’s ruined. I’m not even in a good course (bsc computer science) because of no guidance, no way to get a job to move out.

Where’s my mom in all this? She can’t speak up. He married her when she was 13 (he says he didn’t know her age). She was 17 when she had me. Before I was born, he hit her too. Now she says it’s my fault he hits me.

Irony? He’s always in his underwear at home. I’m so uncomfortable. He does stuff down there in front of everyone. We live in a chawl, the smallest house one room, everyone’s there, and he does this. (Due to also living in chawl and such tiny house am always uncomfortable.)

Audacity of hitting me for sleeveless shirts when he’s half-naked all the time.

Relatives? None.

I don’t know why my life is like this. Sexually harassed as a kid all the time, getting hit by my father, no friends because I was poor and excluded ( I still don't have any friends )

What can I do? Don’t say “move out”, I have no money, no means, no job, and college won’t let me work. I’m female. Where do I go?

EDIT: THANK Y'ALL FOR SUCH KIND WORDS AND ADVICE I AM HONESTLY SO SO SO GRATEFUL NEVER EXPECTED THIS TO BLOW UP.

And to those people saying this is a rage bait or ai I wrote this and then paraphrased it. I genuinely needed advice and few opinions on my situation and what I can do nothing more .

There are few people in my dms saying to start onlyfans, sell feet pictures, etc have some shame you all are no less than a monster yourself.

Casteism still exists Casteism still exists
Religion

I was born and brought up in a "Brahmin" family, and over the years, I’ve observed that casteism has taken subtler forms.

  1. One of the strongest ways casteism is still practiced is through marriage. In most Brahmin families, marrying outside the caste is discouraged, even if nobody says it directly. I have seen WhatsApp message especially targeted towards young woman to “choose within the community.” If a Brahmin boy marries a girl from another caste, it’s seen as slightly rebellious but often tolerated. But if a Brahmin girl marries outside her caste, especially into what’s labeled a “lower” caste, the reactions are far harsher. There’s gossip, shame, emotional pressure....

  2. Another subtle but powerful way casteism shows up is through the Upanayan Samskara**...** the sacred thread ceremony for boys. In most Brahmin families, the boy undergoes this ritual at a young age...sometimes at 3, 5, 7, or 9. The idea is to initiate him into the study of sacred knowledge.

But here’s what often goes unnoticed:

  • The boy is being assigned to it even before he understands what’s happening or consentes to it.

  • The girl is excluded completely.

One Earth, One Heart, One Chance! One Earth, One Heart, One Chance!
People

Sometimes I look at the world and feel this ache in my chest. So much noise. So much fear. People shouting about borders, race, religion, as if we did not all begin on the same ancient soil. As if our land was not once one piece, before time cracked it like a puzzle.

We pray to different names, yet the sky above us is the same quiet blue. The sun warms everyone. The rain does not ask for passports.

And still, we fight. Still, we forget that the earth is just a pale blue dot spinning in a universe so big it laughs at our anger.

Life is short. Fragile like a soap bubble in the wind. Instead of holding each other, some choose hate. Instead of loving our parents while they are here, instead of building futures and falling in love and creating things that make our hearts brighter, we get lost in noise and ego.

But I refuse to believe this is who we really are.

We are capable of better. Of warmth. Of choosing kindness even when it feels difficult. Of building a world where children grow up unafraid and people are seen for their hearts, not their passports or skin or prayers.

We do not need to conquer anything. We just need to remember.

Remember love. Remember family. Remember that every stranger carries dreams and fears just like we do.

Maybe change begins small. A gentle word. A hand reaching out. A promise to be better than yesterday.

The world does not need rulers. It needs healers. It needs hearts that are brave enough to stay soft.

Let us be those hearts.

Torn Between My Peaceful Life in Siberia and Family Duties in Delhi. Should I "Escape"? Torn Between My Peaceful Life in Siberia and Family Duties in Delhi. Should I "Escape"?
Careers

I’m a 25-year-old man from Delhi, born and raised here, but I feel like a stranger in my own city. For my education, I spent seven years in a small Siberian town called Tomsk, Russia. I didn't just get a medical degree there; I built a life. I learned the language, immersed myself in the culture, and came to see it as my home. I grew accustomed to the serene, albeit harsh, beauty of the place—the endless forests, the -20 degree air that makes you feel truly alive, and the quiet, empty streets.

Now that I've finished my degree and returned to Delhi, I'm experiencing a profound reverse culture shock. I find myself constantly hating the pollution, the suffocating traffic, and the systemic corruption where you have to pay people just to do their jobs. On top of that, the FMGE competition feels like a throat-cutting rat race. As a first-generation physician without any established connections, it feels like there's no place for me here.

The pressure doesn't stop with my career. My mother (I lost my father, and I'm her only son; my elder sister is married and settled) is adamant about an arranged marriage. She believes I'm not mature enough to decide for myself and that arranged setups are better. I, however, see it as a colossal waste of money and a stupid adherence to custom, especially since I've had a Russian girlfriend for the past two years. I've tried to take a stand, but my mom simply ignores me, dismissing my feelings.

Now, all I can think about is Tomsk—the better career scope, the healthier lifestyle, and the opportunity to grow professionally without insane competition. I'm planning a way out. My girlfriend's family is supportive and has even connected me with an immigration lawyer. I have a private visa and all my documents ready to leave.

But here's my dilemma: I'm consumed by guilt. My mom is only 45. We have our own apartment here and stable rental income from inheritance, so financially, she is secure. But if I stay, I have a home, a car, and financial stability, but my inner peace is completely gone. I miss my life in Siberia every day and compare everything to it. My friends tell me I should choose myself, as my mom is primarily waiting for me to "settle down" and give her grandchildren.

So, do I kill my dreams and my relationship to make my family happy, rotting here in Delhi's chaos and relentless competition? Or do I choose a peaceful, 40-hour work week in the heart of Siberia, in a village of 5,000 people, where I can breathe and build a future? Is it worth it to "run away" for my own future and mental peace, even if it means leaving my mother behind?

I feel trapped and mentally harassed by the entire situation. Any life advice from those with more experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for listening.

Mom cried and broke down on diwali Mom cried and broke down on diwali
Crime

I have a stereotypical toxic Indian household. Dad who wants everything and everyone to be perfect and serve him. Grandparents who did the same the previous generation and the mother who served them 20+ years and when now finally getting tired and old they still keep demanding shit like she was doing 10-15 years back. She can't, she is fucking frustrated, had a fight with my dad on the day of the diwali where she just broke down and yelled, I had to drag her back and consol her while the grandparents kept telling her that ki thekh hey it's my father's nature.

I turned 19 this august and am doing btech away from my city. I come every 2 months, everytime I get excited that I am going to see my family and everytime I am disappointed and at my low when I leave. I got away from the shit hole for atleast some years but I am afaird for my mom. If I take a stand for my mom and say something to him, he considers it as a attack and considers me as his enemy.

I do admire that he provides for this family and pays my college fees upto some extent. But that doesn't mean I can't take a stand for my mom. If I did take a stand I feel like this shit would get ugly and I will be forced to hit him due to self defence, cuz I was this close once when he charged to beat me up. I don't know what to do I told my mother that return to your mother's (my Nani's) house but I could only tell her upto a limit.

A story from Mumbai tonight that I wish wasn’t true | my teammate just wanted to get his mom home safely after chemo, but what he told me still breaks me A story from Mumbai tonight that I wish wasn’t true | my teammate just wanted to get his mom home safely after chemo, but what he told me still breaks me
Law & Courts

Just a few minutes ago around 7.10 pm, my teammate texted me asking if I could help him with something. What he shared has been stuck in my head since. It is 8.12 now while I am posting and I still feel heavy thinking about it.

He had taken work from home today because his mom had a chemo session. It was her third cycle, day one. These sessions usually go on for three days since the hospital is closed on Sunday, so they go on Friday, Saturday and Monday.

He and his brother have been handling everything on their own since they lost their dad in 2019. The hospital is in Parla and they stay in Malad, and anyone who has driven that Western Express Highway stretch during rush hours knows how draining it gets.

They booked an Uber because driving themselves after long hospital hours can be exhausting. The morning ride went fine, but while returning, the driver with plate number MH.04.LE.0725 accepted the ride, they got in, shared the OTP, and then suddenly said, “Sir ride cancel karni padegi, Ola Uber ka strike chal raha hai.”

There was no strike. They had taken another Uber that morning and saw plenty of cabs on the road. When my teammate showed him the fare, which was around 316 rupees, the driver said he would not go for that price and asked them to get down.

His mom was quiet, tired and weak from the chemo treatment, and still had to stand on the roadside because this driver decided he was not getting enough money.

He didn’t even argue. I think in that moment he just wanted to take her home without adding to her stress. He reached out to Uber support but all he got was the usual “we will look into it” and nothing else.

What made me angrier is that something similar has happened to me before. A driver once tried the same “strike chal raha hai” excuse mid-ride. I raised it to Uber and got it sorted after pushing for it, but I can imagine he didn’t have the energy to fight because of what his mom was going through.

It just breaks your heart how insensitive people can be. If you cannot take the ride for that price, then don’t accept it. But don’t make someone stand on the road like that after a day at the hospital.

Uber India needs to do better.
