Description

Turn your ideas into videos and drop yourself into the action.

Sora is a new kind of creative app that turns text prompts and images into hyperreal videos with sound using the latest advancements from OpenAI. A single sentence can unfold into a cinematic scene, an anime short, or remix of a friend's video. If you can write it, you can see it, remix it, and share it. Turn your words into worlds with Sora.

Explore, play, and share your imagination in a community built for experimentation.

the capabilities are amazing, the algorithm and UI is not

simply out of this world things you can do (if you don’t bump into one of the many restrictions) but you have no ability to ask the model why it made what it did… nor to truly work in an iterative fashion… so it’s all one-shot attempts and you have to pray it comes out the way you want or you’ve dented your tiny daily creation budget

and the algorithm for discovery is horrendous… you’d think one of the most intelligent companies would have created a nearly perfect algorithm… but no, barely any videos get distributed to others (as there’s barely any proper metadata comprehension by the system, so it mostly pulls from user descriptions which are barebones) and there’s no way to get around that design error right now (no boosting options etc)

overall a great app… with a lot of room for improvement

It has Potential

As a dedicated Sora user, I’ve found the platform to be an extraordinary tool for bringing creative ideas to life often those that feel impossible to visualize elsewhere. Sora gives that creativity in a way a few apps can bring and I believe it holds true potential for growth and development. That said, I’d like to offer some feedback from my experience. As a UI/UX designer, I’ve noticed that certain settings specifically those related to video length and orientation (landscape vs. portrait) can be difficult for users to locate and adjust. It took me some time to discover how to modify these options, and I’ve heard similar concerns from other users who found this setting and were surprised that it was on the top of the screen this entire time but they never thought to check it. For future updates, I recommend making these settings more accessible and clearly labeled. Improving their visibility and ease of use would significantly enhance the onboarding experience for new users and streamline workflows for existing ones. Aside from this, I want to say that Sora is by far the most inspiring and powerful creative app I’ve ever used. I’m excited to see how it continues to evolve and unlock its full potential.

Updated Review!

As promised once able to use the app I would review. It’s great, that simple. The videos come out almost exactly as described. Problem, lots of limitations on what you can and can’t generate, some are understandable some are just overreach, even borderline stupid. The limit is apparently 30 videos in 24 hours and each can only be 10 seconds. I understand short video limitations with AI but tray that needs to be raised to 20 seconds for crying out loud. If there was a paid option to maybe allow 30 seconds to 1 minute videos with unlimited videos, I would be for that. As of right now it’s fun but you can’t make any compete scenes as it won’t even with detailed promises kept a character consistent. Lots of room for improvement

Update: If they limit to 10 seconds at least make it easy for the system to to have cohesion between the screens. If I could make 30, 10 second scenes that follow the pace of each other and stay contrast the limitation wouldn’t be so bad but reach reversion is particle a new scene no matter how close you try to get the scenes to construe like they’re the same it won’t.
