A post on X has gone viral with over 32 million views. The post criticized aespa‘s NingNing for her alleged attitude towards Japan and the Japanese. It brought up her post from 2022 about her new lamp. They compared it to a lamp based on the atomic bombings.

Japanese fans who have realized this are scrambling to cancel her. One fan deleted all their photos of aespa.

Fans were quick to jump to her defence.

One particularly pointed out NingNing’s background as a Harbinese. The Harbin people were hit particularly hard by the Japanese occupation.

On the other hand, some have also found that the lamp itself is widely sold in Japan.

As the Japanese war and occupation were global tragedies that caused millions of civilians to suffer, it seems that most non-Japanese netizens are firmly on NingNing’s side.

SEVENTEEN Mingyu‘s actions at a recent concert have sparked backlash.

During a recent show in Austin, Mingyu was spotted taking a shot of alcohol from a fan in the crowd.

Netizens shared anger towards the fan, security, and Mingyu for being “irresponsible,” with some sharing about the incident with TVXQ’s Yunho and having glue in his drink.

The video has also added to the discourse that the members treat fans differently in the West compared to Southeast Asia countries.

Yet, some fans explained that no drinks can be brought from outside, so the fan would have had to buy them from the venue. Alcohol and other snacks are readily available from inside, as mentioned on the website.

Although it is a huge honor, some international netizens have been calling the decision out for alleged nepotism. They claim that she not only lacks experience, but the position is one of high honor, normally given to seniors in the industry.

Many feel that the shoes are too big to fill for a rookie.

Netizens are disgruntled at the alleged power play at work.

This comes alongside previous doubts raised when it was announced that MAMA’s Best New Artist category for 2025 would not be separated into female or male artist categories as it always has been. Fans have speculated that this was due to ALLDAY PROJECT’s existence as a mixed gender group.

Despite nepotism accusations, Annie’s talent and dedication towards her job continues to shine. Fans continue to defend her, claiming that she was simply doing “idol things” in her own right.
