There is an app called seal, it uses yt-dlp engine, which allow you to download the video from any source ( without DRM like Netflix of course ), you just need to paste the link into it.

Remember to download from Github for safety

Revanced support the API so you can download through it ( it will redirect to Seal automatically )

Don't know about revanced would probably work with seal but metrolist and Simpmusic are both open source and use YouTube music and have download feature. Metrolist actually looks very similar to YouTube music revanced

I got you, There's an open source .apk for YT music on Github.

Yes, even you can listen to your cache music.
That mean,
if you played a song, you didn't downloaded it.
yes you played it, later you can play it again toally offline,

It will be stored in your cache.

& there's separte option to look into your cache audio.

Look at F- droid for: opentube, Tubular, newpipe, kreate. All of them are open source
