Hello, My name is Grace Lang, and I am a 23 year old UGA student from Athens, GA. On Thursday, October 23rd, I was assaulted by a man in a nazi uniform, 33 year old Kenneth Leland “Lee” Morgan, outside of Cutter’s Pub in downtown Athens. After a period of him antagonizing the patrons, I got up and went to stand in-between him and my friends. It was getting physical, between other people shoving him out of the bar’s space and his refusal to leave after being denied entry by the bouncer. I chose to attempt to remove the swastika, the symbol of hate, from his uniform to disarm the clear strategy of disturbing the peace of the local community. Within a few seconds of grazing his arm to solely remove the patch, he struck me in the face with a beer stein he had been carrying since arriving downtown. Afterward, while I was disoriented and bleeding heavily from my face, he continued to pull, spit, and hit me with the glass pitcher. Overall, my encounter with him from beginning to him fleeing the scene was less than 30 seconds. This gofundme will help to cover medical expenses from having to go to the emergency room Thursday night, as well as expenses going forward during recovery.
