Performance Issues

Due to recent events, Myrient is receiving a massive influx of traffic and all of our caching servers are currently overloaded. Therefore, download speeds are slower than usual. We are looking at potential solutions to the problem with the funding currently available.

Performance Issues - Update

We've implemented aggressive CDN caching and increased our caching server capacity to alleviate performance issues for downloads from the website. All content cached (downloaded at least once) should no longer download slowly.

Myrient's FTP and rsync servers are being phased out

While the ability to download via FTP and rsync is a defining feature of Myrient, the high cost of bandwidth and time spent on server maintenance have made it difficult to support those protocols. Additionally, recent events have forced us to make changes for the security of the service and longevity of all the content on Myrient.

We would like to inform you that Myrient's FTP and rsync servers will shut down on 26 May.

Downloading via the website using tools like wget will continue to be supported and we're continuing to improve upon various strategies, such as caching, to serve content as fast as possible with the funding currently available. We hope this won't be an inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

Performance Issues - Resolved

We added more caching servers yesterday to further alleviate performance issues for downloads from the website. All content, not just cached files, should no longer download slowly. We will continue to monitor for performance issues related to download speed.

We're currently investigating an issue where downloads are stopping randomly and showing an error.

We know there are issues with downloads at the moment. This is due to failures of multiple drives. We're waiting for replacements and as soon as they're received we'll fix the issues as soon as possible.

We've received and installed replacement drives and the storage cluster is currently rebuilding. Until this is complete, the cluster will continue operating in a degraded state. We would like to emphasize that due to the redundancy of our system, no data was lost.

Until the storage cluster is rebuilt, users downloading content of the sets listed above may continue to encounter issues. We'll let you know once the rebuilding process is completed.

Download Issues - Update

At the time of this announcement, the Redump sets "Sony - PlayStation 3", "Sony - PlayStation 3 - Disc Keys", and "Sony - PlayStation 3 - Disc Keys TXT" are operational again and the process of rebuilding the storage cluster has been completed. Additionally, the issue where downloads are stopping randomly and showing an error has been resolved.

Identified - We've identified an issue where downloading from Myrient via Rclone results in a 403 error and are working on a resolution. Please specify the option --http-no-head to mitigate the issue or use a different tool such as wget.

Connectivity Issues in Ukraine

During the last few weeks, users in Ukraine were not able to access Myrient due to connectivity issues. This issue has been resolved.

Issues downloading files with certain special characters

We identified an issue where files with certain special characters in the filename could not be downloaded. This issue was resolved in July.

Download Issues - Update

The additional provisioning of server infrastructure has been completed and download speeds should no longer be slower than usual. This issue has been resolved.

Identified - We have identified an issue where some caching servers are affected by issues with network performance. As a result, users may experience an increase in dropped connections and downloads taking a long time to start.

Myrient Blocked in Portugal

It has been brought to our attention that multiple Portuguese internet service providers are blocking Myrient. If you are located in Portugal and are unable to connect to Myrient, please change your DNS to Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1 to bypass the block. A guide on how to do that is located here.

Directory Listing Issues

Resolved - This incident has been resolved.

Monitoring - We have applied a fix and are monitoring for further issues.

Identified - A cascading failure caused the directory listing service to stop working. We are working on a solution to the problem.

Download Manager Incompatibility Issues

We're investigating an issue where download managers such as JDownloader are returning errors or are limited to only one connection when downloading certain content. Thank you for your patience.

Increased HTTP 503 errors on certain Redump sets

Due to a failure of multiple disks, users may experience HTTP 503 errors when downloading the following content:

Some content may be stored on our caching servers and therefore can still be downloaded. We are working to have the disks replaced as soon as possible. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

All other content is unaffected and we'll provide updates as necessary.

Due to unexpected high demand, some users may experience slower than usual download speeds when downloading the following content:

We are investigating an issue where the website may become unresponsive for minutes at a time.

Update - We have identified and replaced an overloaded web server causing the website to be intermittently unavailable. Website performance should become stable momentarily and we are monitoring the results.

Increased HTTP 502 errors on Redump set "Sony - PlayStation 2"

Due to a major hardware failure affecting multiple storage servers, users experienced increased HTTP 502 errors when downloading the following content:
Redump set "Sony - PlayStation 2"

We have switched to backup storage servers while the issue is being investigated and download speeds will be slower than usual as a result. This issue does not affect cached content. All other content is unaffected and we will provide updates as necessary.

Update - The faulty hardware has been identified and replaced and the affected storage servers are back online. Download speeds for the affected content should be back to normal. This incident has been resolved.

High load on certain Redump sets

Due to unexpected high demand, some users may have experienced slower download speeds than usual throughout the day with the following content:

Redump set "Nintendo - GameCube - NKit RVZ [zstd-19-128k]"
Redump set "Nintendo - Wii - NKit RVZ [zstd-19-128k]"
