I was going to post this incog but fµck it.

First of all, I am still a fan of the band itself, been so since 2002. That being said I will have have to say that the photo of Adam and Ryan is sad especially because of Ryan's exit from the band wasn't exactly smooth as it was portrayed in the press. They had at the time been best friends so his exit was royally fµcked up.

Ryan had a persistent sports injury,which made it hard for him to drum for the band. His injury became more aggravated over the years and they bought in Matt Flynn to replace him. While Matt drummed for them during their tour (starting with the Honda Civic tour) Ryan continued with them but only being backstage doing the background vocals and would occasionally come out to do Highway to Hell (remake) which was a song he sang lead on.

Ryan Leaving the group:

Basically the band took Ryan to a Mexican restaurant in LA for dinner and decided to tell him then that he was essentially fired from the group. Ryan thought the band was just going out to eat, I dont think he had any clue what was about to happen. I kinda think that was a bit insulting since Ryan Dusick is half Mexican (mother) /half Jewish (father). That's like taking my black ass to a chicken place and firing me. What the management told the press however was it was a mutual breakup and it went smoothly which wasn't the case.

They felt that they should not have to continue to pay him for what they thought was less work on the tour and they hired Matt as an employee, which means he gets paid but not as much as the original members (Matt is not an owner of the group. At that time it was Adam, Jesse, Ryan, Mickey and to some extent James) That also means PJ who is now in the group (who is standing in for Jesse) is also a salaried employee although both Matt and PJ enjoy the credits from being in the group. Many people felt that if they could go and hire outside people and stick them in the group, they could have kept Ryan who also plays guitar etc. Other people think that Ryan was easy for Adam to let go because Ryan was his competition in the group as far as looks are concerned.


Ryan and Adam's mother used to be really good friends but they have not spoken since. Ryan's father is a lawyer so Ryan still gets a cut of any sales from Songs About Jane and IWBSBL because he had a hand in some of that material.

I like Matt Flynn a lot and nothing against him, and I still enjoy the group but they are not exempt from bs.
