Best N64 Emulator?
Unsolved
Hey guys, I want to play N64 games on my laptop but there are a few different emulators I am looking at. I heard that Project64 and mupen64plus are good emulators to use, but there is also project64k and modloader64 for online games. I am wondering what the differences between all of these are and where I can get Project64 safely because I had heard that the emulator used to be packaged with malware a lot (and I had tried this myself on a spare PC and it did have malware bundled, however this was a few years ago). Any help is appreciated.

I have a hacked version of 1964 that only works with Goldeneye and Perfect Dark and allows you to play with mouse and kb. I just wish someone could extract the ROM of the 2010 HD remaster of PD but hey, it's better than nothing. At least we're getting a new game.
Ya I'm hyped for the new PD. I did look into that emulator but idc about keyboard and mouse controls too much so I'm gonna get project64 probably.

Well that is convenient thank you.
As multiple users in that discussion rightly state the mupen64plus-next core in Retroarch with the parallel RDP+RSP option using the Vulcan backend is the most accurate and compatible option for N64 emulation, all of the four options listed in that link are inferior.
I think you're better off just finding one and actually playing a real game on a TV.
Yeah I looked around, a lot of people overpriced like crazy because it's retro. I wanted to get an everdrive to go with it but they are based in Ukraine so prices shot up with the war.
