Once upon a time a katamari rolled through both past and present. In this story across time, the adage endures: Let The Good Times Roll! Now onward through new worlds to roll up thy heart's desires and to restore the stars!

The controls have changed to be a lot more fluid and it feels really great. You can now customize and make your own Prince. Level selection is a lot easier. So far it's the perfect Katamari.

This is a truly a worthy modern successor to the first couple Katamari titles. I had my reservations going in and kind of assumed this would just be a hollow nostalgia trip and nothing more but it's chock full of charm just like the beloved Katamari games of the past. The controls are smoother than ever and the new gameplay additions are extremely fun to use without impacting the core experience significantly enough to be detrimental to the overall flow of Katamari.

Genuinely cannot believe how well this turned out.

FINALLY A NEW KATAMARI!!!!!! The last non-remake console Katamari game, Katamari Forever, released in North America on September 18th, 2009. I was ten years old, almost eleven. I just turned TWENTY SEVEN. And it's worth the wait! The music is amazing, the game plays buttery smooth on Steam Deck, it looks amazing, and the plot is as wacky as ever. Bandai Namco is really putting out banger after banger this year with Digimon then Katamari <3

The dev team responsible for the original Katamari Damacy remake and the We Love Katamari remake went ahead and made a brand new one, and it's good to see that it's clearly shaping up to take after those two games as opposed to following in the wake of everything that came AFTER We Love Katamari.

Another one for the books. Only took 20 years.

This game goes beyond any of the other katamari games, genuinely surprised me. They really aced the game. This game is a complete labor of l'amour. Makes me wanna clip-clop my slips together and say lalala. nutsuo shabby. Every nickel deserved.

If this game fell flat I would've been foomin.

This is truly the king of all katamari games.

Having replayed the first three Katamari games more times than I can count, and having devoured the remakes, I can say that this game is such a pleasant surprise. Clearly this was made by some dedicated fans of the originals, because all the additions (arcade style power-ups, multiple challenge modes and optional challenges per level, a 4p battle mode that can be played vs computers or other players for rewards, custom prince designs) all feel like such natural additions. Heck, they even added a dedicated boost button to save my aging fingers after 20 years of Katamari. The attention to detail is also very keen, fans of the series will find a lot of recurring characters and pickups- remember to say hi to the Hoshino family!

It's very fun. I think this is a best case of don't fix what isn't broken, and the devs adherred to that. Personally, my only critique is that the rest of the series still has better music. The game play and visuals in this release are awesome.

There's a large crowd that doesn't seem to 'get it'. The appeal of this game isn't a mystery. For the younger crowd, it has all the noise, color, and attention grabbing elements they so dearly crave. Then there's critics, who rely on reviewing games instead of just enjoying them. Neither group seems happy, despite this being the most video game esque game released all year.

Highly recommend.
