Fake news claims that the Tamil Nadu government bans Tilaks in schools but allows hijab ! To avoid caste-based violence among students, the Tamil Nadu government constituted a one-man committee in 2023 headed by Justice K Chandru. Hence, the committee recommended prohibiting the colored wrist bands, rings, and Tilaks that exhibit caste-related sentiments. However, this recommendation does not prohibit religious markers such as Tilak, Kumkumam, vibhuti, and sandal tilak. The recommendation to ban caste indicators in schools is falsely spread as a ban on the religious markers. Don’t spread hatred! Don’t spread fake news!
