Turns Out, iPads Work Now!
After years of frustration, this iPadOS 26 beta actually feels like a turning point
Before I Say Anything Nice…
Let me be clear: Apple had to really earn this one. If you’ve been around my channel or my articles for a while, you’ll know I haven’t exactly been quiet about how disappointing the iPad has felt over the past few years. Amazing hardware, yes. But the software? Until now, it felt like a Ferrari with a VW Beetle engine (remember those?).
Eight months ago, I called the M4 iPad Pro a “$2,000 disappointment.” Beautifully built, no doubt. But what good is power if the software keeps it from being useful? I must admit though, that for creative work there is nothing nicer. But a lot of us wanted more.
I said then that I was waiting for Apple to finally unlock the potential of this machine. I also ranted a bit (okay, a lot) about how Apple needs to use its ecosystem more wisely.
Well… it kind of feels like someone at Apple was listening. If so, hi there 👋🏼And cheers.
Stage Manager, Remember That?
Let’s not forget iPadOS 17 gave us Stage Manager, which I politely described as a beta masquerading as a feature. It offered the illusion of multitasking…
