I just need to rant a bit about what I saw this morning at Hotel Cross Kyoto during breakfast. There was this European couple sitting nearby ane both of them got up to get more food, but the way they left their table messy and scattered, really looked like they had finished eating and left. They even left a bag of their stuff on the table.

The poor waitress probably thought they were done, so she kindly cleared the table and kept their bag safe for them. When the couple came back and realized their bag was gone, they got all pissed off and rudely demanded to know where it was. When the waitress returned it to them (still being super polite), they just gave her a death stare without even a word of thanks.

Moments like this make me understand why Japan is getting fed up with some foreign tourists.

Had my annual review last week. Boss spent 20 minutes talking about how valuable I am and how much the company appreciates my work. Then came the bonus discussion → $0.

Not "we're having a tight year" or "budget constraints." Just straight up told me they decided to reallocate bonus funds to "other priorities." Meanwhile I watched two new managers get hired at probably double my salary.

Handed in my two weeks yesterday. Boss seemed shocked and asked what they could do to keep me. Told him he already showed me exactly what I'm worth to them.

Already got one interview lined up. Done with this place.

Im in kyoto for 4 days. Onomochi and hiroshima for 2 days Osaka for 4 days. And then tokyo for 3. Then fly out of Osaka

Im feeling like I want to experience more rural nature areas like possibly Takayama instead of Tokyo. I dont know if I could do both.

My father got injured 7 years ago in a work accident and was forced to retire, my mom never worked so they both are living off of dad’s disability which obviously doesn’t do enough at all, so for 7 years now I’ve been helping them out, I’m a doctor so I make good money and I could help them out even though I was married with a family of my own and hundreds of thousands of student loans I managed somehow, I’ve been sending them about 2300$ a month for the mortgage and bills and groceries so that’s probably well over 150k throughout the years, could have easily went to my kids college funds or vacations or a house down payment but I always assumed it’s what a good son does and that eventually I’d get some of it back in their will, but apparently not.

Last night I was over at my parents house with my wife and kids for dinner and dad asked me to check something on his computer since he isn’t good with technology, I went and I saw a file called will, I guess I was just nosey and I clicked it and goddamn, literally everything was left to my little sister and her husband who never helped them out in the past decade, I was mad. I called both my parents to dads study and closed the door and asked them what the fuck are they doing leaving everything to my little sister and brother in law, dad got mad at me and said that it’s their property and will and that I had no say to whom they leave it too, they said they are struggling and aren’t as well off as me and that they need the help more and that it won’t really effect me if I got nothing. I told them I’m stopping all my help then and I’m definitely talking to a lawyer to see if I can claim ownership since I’ve been paying for the bills and mortgage for 7 years now and I have all the receipts to prove it. Mom started crying and dad started yelling at me and called me a greedy selfish asshole for holding helping them over their heads. I said I wasn’t joking, they said they weren’t gonna change anything in their will so I went on my banking app right there and cancelled every automatic payment I had set up for them and I showed them everything. I also talked to my lawyer and have already set up a meeting later this week, I am taking ownership of that house, I won’t kick them out but it won’t be theirs to give away to anyone.

Ever since yesterday my sister and brother in law and my parents have all been guilt tripping me and outright calling me a greedy asshole. And they’re begging me to stop all this, my wife is understanding and supportive of me and she’s enraged on my behalf.

Am I going too far here and did I overreact? Honestly the amount of attacks I’ve gotten and I’m still getting are making me doubt everything
