Police in Tokyo have arrested Keita Richard Kusama, 29, a member of the all-male idol band Ae! Group, on suspicion of committing public indecency.
According to police, Kusama is suspected of dropping his pants and exposing his lower body near the entrance of a building in Shinjuku 2-chome, Shinjuku Ward, at around 5:40 a.m. Saturday, Sankei Shimbun reported.
A passerby called 110. Police said Kusama was standing alone and intoxicated when they arrived.
Ae! Group is affiliated with Starto Entertainment, the company that took over from the former Johnny & Associates talent agency.
Starto posted an apology on its website and said Kusama would take a break from singing and appearing on TV.

For those that don't know, Shinjuku 2-chome is the "Gay zone" in Tokyo.
Media do this as if he is real villain, he could be just one to piss after drinking many liquor and then forget to put his pants back.
What is he? A toddler? Even children know to pull their pants up after a piss.
On tip of that, toilets are a thing.
Video would show he didn't just drop his pants. He lost his pants!

Obviously you never seen drunk salaryman during Friday night, didn't you?
apropos the 'gaybourhood'... this is a pretty interesting history of 2-chōme....

A member of a boy band might be gay????? No way! (Clutches pearls.)
Comments so far are steering clear of reputed mental pressure and stress in the industry (remember the SMAP guy at Roppongi Midtown) and/or the need to drink away his sorrow at seeing an anti gay marriage woman take the helm of the LDP
Shinjuku 2chome is a wide area, and only a few blocks of it has gay bars. There are a lot of people living there who aren't gay, and a lot of people walking though there who aren't gay. Just because he happened to be in that roughly 10 block radius does not mean he is gay.
That said, even if he were gay, who cares. It has nothing to do with what he was arrested for.
I seem to recall one of the SMAPP guys getting arrested for the same thing after a hanami party a number of years ago. And I honestly can't count how many times I've seen college-age boys and salarymen drunk and taking clothes off. Shibuya, Shimbashi, Asakusa, Yoyogi Park, on the train ...
He's only different in that he happened to get caught, is famous, and became news. There will be another idiot doing the same thing this coming Friday. Or even sooner.
Look, regardless of the circumstances of how this no hoper got into this reprehensible situation the police need to get him arrested, charged and before a judge promptly then fined and imprisoned for a good length of time.
No of course not, getting drunk in gay bars, in a gay area, walking around playing with his "bits" without his trousers or undies has nothing to do with being Gay.
That's true. However, throw in the missing trousers and that changes the equation completely. But like you said, not that it matters.
J-cops used to be remarkably tolerant about this stuff. He might have gotten a warning or been hauled down to the koban until morning, but not arrested. Pre-dawn in a drinking and hook-up zone had different rules.

No, it doesn't. Because he wasn't in a gay bar, and Shinjuku 2chome is a large area that is mainly residential, and has restaurants and bars that aren't along the main street where most of the gay bars are.
You, and many others, seem to be saying that he did this because he is gay, and not because he is just another young dumb guy who has no respect for those around him and thinks nudity is funny.
I pointed out that SMAPP Kusanagi was arrested for the same thing, as are lots of other young idiot men every weekend, and I don't recall anyone saying those men are gay.
someone is super defensive about him being gay or not.
Despite no one else really knowing who he is or caring if he is or isn’t.
who cares, as he wasn’t arrested for being gay, or not.
The societal acceptance of public drunkenness in Japan is pretty weird to me. People lying about in the street, staggering down the stairs, passed out on trains to the last stop, vomiting in basins on train platforms that were put there for that purpose, etc. It should be considered a national embarrassment.
Nomikai shouldn't even be a thing. Who tf wants to hang out with co-workers, especially their boss, after work? But, that's a whole other ball of worms.
I've seen plenty of drunk salary men and general oyajis pissing in the street. I hold them all in the same category of disdain.
Disgusting uncouth barbarians.
If @Tamanegi 's video is real he doesn't look that drunk. He looks like if he is checking he is good to sneak away. The way his t-shirt is suggests he might be doing a bit of streaking.
Kusanagi ? I think you will find quite a few who say he is Gay including Kusanagi himself.
Interesting. My wife often said there were rumors that Inagaki-kun was gay, and never mentioned Kusanagi.
(Not that there is anything wrong with it, in any case.)
Is that a relevant point? Public indecency isn't a "gay vs straight" thing...
