Photograph Information Photographer's Comments
Challenge: Triptych II (Advanced Editing V*)
Camera: Canon EOS-30D
Lens: Canon EF 70-200mm f/4.0L IS USM
Location: Cape Cod
Date: Apr 24, 2007
Aperture: 5.6
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/30
Galleries: Nude, Diptych / Triptych
Date Uploaded: Apr 29, 2007

Goal is to tell a story in three panes. The image I was trying to recreate was that of peering into a warmly lit cottage window on a summer's evening. Low light situation was challenging requiring 400 ISO. First time working with a strong backlight. Shot was actually taken indoors through a sliding pocket door and through an off white curtain which provided wonderful texture that often paralleled the texture of the model's hair unexpectedly.

Raw, warmed up WB, crop, levels, usm,, border.

Greetings from the Critique Club

Challenge: Definitely meets the challenge.

Strong points: The slight voyeuristic feeling of the image, without being a in your face "voyeur" shot, works in favour of the image. The warm colour scheme. Sexy and fun, as one of your commenters puts it.

Possible weaknesses: The cut-off areas of the model (in centre and right image). The uneven colour of the framing between the images. The same framing is too wide, it separates the images too much - it might be better to have those frames be the same width, or even less width, than the edge frame. The top frame being so much narrower is a bit jarring.

Technicals: Look great to me. The exposure seems right on, your idea of the textured curtain to provide interest was great.

Overall: A fun image, nicely done, and with a good score to show for it. Keep up the good work!

I hope this helps. If I can be of further help, please let me know.

~Ursula

I like the idea..but not so much the way she's posed. I like the 1st panel--what's up with her stance? 6

Great set - Nice idea - For some reason the rust colour distracts me a little? Also pic 3 the woman maybe should have turned and faced the other way to keep us in the frame of the whole series.

Back to comment :) I loved this the moment I laid eyes on it. What an unique idea for a triptych. Ok, so a little bit voyeuristic, but nonetheless well executed. I voted 9. Would have been 10 were it not for the brown window frame. Sounds nitpicky I know, but honestly, I think darkening it to an almost black would have given this some real punch. Good luck!
