I would not update any #Android App's when in the EU as the #PlayStore could push a special build of the App by the Dev to comply with EU laws.

So Travelers to the EU would have a trusted VPN setup back home & stay connected to it at all times. This will save you from any company that would be complying with EU laws.

EU will block overseas phones from being sold/shipped to EU
With #Google restricting on #SideLoading of App's on #Android. Where all sideloading Dev's, must register with google & have their App be signed or google won’t let it install
This gives google control over sideloading of App's that google, other companies or even the EU don't like
