Amy sat on her pink sofa, the television flickering in front of her, though her thoughts were far from the screen. She couldn’t stop thinking about someone, and that thought consumed her mind far more than the television ever could.

“Oh Sonic, I hope you are alright.”

Just a few days ago, Sonic embarked on a solo mission to a mysterious dimension that had sent a distress beacon that their friend Tila had found. She had insisted on going with him, but he had denied all of her requests.

“I don’t know, Amy, this might be more dangerous than usual, and I don’t want to risk getting anyone involved, especially you.”

“I’m no damsel in distress, and you know that.”

“I know you are strong, Amy, but—” the hedgehog picked her hand and fidgeted with the ring in it. “You are also my wife, and I won’t let anyone hurt you, okay?”

With a kiss in her hand and the warmest hug she had ever received, she had accepted to let go of Sonic and said goodbye to him when he left.

But her worries and anxiety for his well-being were not fully gone, and the more days passed, the more they grew in size.

She had tried many things to distract herself—knitting, going shopping, training, and fighting Eggman forces—but none of them had any real effect. She was about to drop the towel and find a way to go and find Sonic when one day, she received an unexpected flyer in her mail.

“One large pepperoni pizza for 5 rings?”

Up to that point, Amy had secluded herself from her friends, thinking that they would only remind her how Sonic was gone or that her negative attitude would make her unwanted company. But in that moment, she thought that the flyer might be the perfect excuse to chat with her friends again.

So she talked to them, and everyone agreed to go to her house for a small party to cheer everyone up after Sonic's absence. And as if the universe was playing a prank on her, the moment she finished ordering the pizza, she began to receive numerous cell phone calls from her friends telling her that they had to cancel for different reasons.

Which takes us back to the present with a depressed pink hedgehog sitting on her couch, waiting for a pizza she wasn’t sure what to do with.

Knock knock.

A knocking sound came from her front door; she quietly got up and walked up to the door, opening it, revealing a yellow tenrec, who looked a bit chubby.

“Hi, um—” she checks a note she had on her hand. “Are you Amy Rose?”

“Yeah, that’s me.”

“Cool, here’s your order, madam.” The delivery girl handed her the piece of cardboard containing her food; surprisingly, it was still hot and fresh. The hedgehog handed her the rings and a tip. The tenrec waves goodbye without saying a word, but Amy stops her with a shout.

"Wait—hold on! Why are they so ridiculously cheap? Is there some kind of celebration going on or what?"

“Huh? Nah! That place is going broke in a few weeks; the owner just wants to make as much money as possible before that.”

“Oh, that’s a shame. Still, thanks for answering. Have a nice day.”

“You got it.”

Amy closes the door and walks back to her living room. She was thinking of the ways she could get rid of the pie. She could save it for later in the fridge or maybe find somebody else on the internet who wants it. But her thoughts are stopped when the smell of the still-fresh pizza hits her nose.

Growwwwl

“Huh, guess my dinner wasn’t as filling as I thought… Well, it would be a shame to waste a fresh pizza like that.” She lingers for a few seconds but then moves again, but instead of heading to her kitchen, she goes back to the sofa and sits on it, placing the pizza to her side.

She opens the box and is greeted with an incredibly good-looking pie. She could almost swear the cheese was glowing gold.

She grabs a slice and takes a small bite. Amy had never tasted a pizza slice that good in her life. So perfect she was, she couldn’t believe the place it had come from was going to shut down; it definitely deserved more praise and attention than what it got.

It takes her almost half an hour, but she has finished the pie, leaving no slices or even crumbs in the box.

“God, that was great. A shame that means more workout tomorrow,” she says, a bit disappointed. The hedgehog then looks at the little coffee table inof her, the flyer resting on it. She grabs and reads it again; the promotion was going to run for an undefined time, probably until they go officially out of business.

“Huh… that’s great to know…”
