Three Australian unis in the world’s top 100 have improved their rank

Melbourne University has held its place as Australia’s finest after it was named the 37th best university in the world, 16 places ahead of its nearest rival, the University of Sydney, on a key ranking.

While three of the six Australian universities in the top 100 improved their rank on last year, the new merged Adelaide University plummeted down the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2026.
