Went to the airport to pickup the Flotilla heroes who returned home after being kidnapped by Israel. Can’t stop thinking about these people going on little boats, trying to deliver food. Against all odds. Doing it anyway. The Portlanders who came out to embrace them.
There are so many good people.
It’s wild to see the Pope, street gangs, police, protestors, regular people who would have been unnatural allies to say the least, coming together because everyone understands that ICE is the new Gestapo and we have a duty to stop them.
And then you have police union president Aaron Schmautz lol
Gold is being sifted from sand. This moment is not defining, it’s revealing. Who you are in this moment counts, and we will make unlikely friends. Any enemy of fascism is a friend of mine.

Temporary Restraining Order against the feds has been granted. The judge did not find evidence that the military or the guard need to be brought in because the protests in Portland have been relatively calm.
Aggression is coming from federal agents and right wing provocateurs
Still no decision from a federal judge on deploying troops to Portland. Meanwhile, protesters at the ICE facility are getting tear gassed by federal agents in broad daylight.

Will literally never forgive the displacement of the food cart pods where all the high schoolers, businesspeople, rich, poor, young, and old used to congregate. Downtown died after that. For a stupid hotel that no one stays in, that promised to add affordable units and then did not.
