The 117 series, which uses a non-through type, has wider front windows than through-type train, so twin wipers are installed under the left and right window glass. The glass retainers for this front window, as well as for the side passenger doors and door pocket windows, have been changed from rubber to metal, giving the overall impression of a cleaner area around the windows. In addition, a front display similar in size to that of express train is installed under the front window, and typhoons are installed on both sides of it, and to make it easier to see ahead at night, two sealed beam headlights are installed on each side, a first for suburban train, all of which highlight the innovative design of the same train.
The product carefully recreates the image of the distinctive front of the 117 series. The front display incorporates pre-printed interchangeable parts in the internal light-blocking case, recreating the feeling that the display can be seen through the glass when the train is reassembled (see photo). The front display part is already equipped with the "Special Rapid Service" train, and interchangeable "Rapid Service" and "Local Service" trains are also included.

The front crew interior light is on when the train is rearward.

In this product, the headlights of the leading cars, Kuha 117 and Kuha 116, are illuminated with warm white LEDs, the taillights with red LEDs, and the train markings with white LEDs for a realistic look. Furthermore, when placed at the rear of the train, the interior lights already installed on the ceiling of the crew compartment will light up (photo left and right). These can be switched on and off with an ON/OFF switch, so when using two sets to enjoy coupled operation, you can recreate the driving scene of the time when the leading car in the middle of the train had all its lights turned off. The operation number display visible above through the window can be selected using the included sticker (not attached in the photo).

Interior partitions are modeled after the wood-grain walls of the actual car.

The interior partitions are brown, reminiscent of the wood-grain walls of the actual car.

To compete with competing private railway express trains, the 117 series underwent improvements to passenger facilities and a makeover of its exterior and interior. With the exception of some fixed seats, convertible cross seats were used, no handrails were installed, decorative panels on the end partitions and sliding toilet doors were finished in a wood-grain finish, and the fluorescent lights attached to the flat ceiling were covered with milky white globes (covers), creating an exceptional sense of luxury for a JNR suburban train at the time.
The interior of the finished product has been made as detailed as possible (see photo). The chic cross seats are made of brown parts, and a partition part that resembles a wood-grain wall is attached to the end of the car. Poster frames for advertising are also molded on both sides of the door of this wall part, and attention has been paid to even the smallest details.

Please also take a look at the coupling surfaces. As with the "381 Series" released last year, the product also features a three-dimensional, realistic reproduction of the piping around the couplers on the coupling surfaces of each train(photo). Although not shown in the photo, the affiliation and capacity markings at the bottom of the side body are selectable using a transfer sheet, and the end markings are pre-printed. In addition, the type, dead weight, and conversion markings on the end surface are pre-printed, and the inspection date and year can be selected by pasting your choice from a transfer sheet within the inspection marking frame printed on the end surface, and the side indicator lights are pre-installed with red clear parts.

The "117 Series (Special Rapid Service)" is currently under development and is in the process of being released.
