About to finally pull the trigger on a new PC build now that GPU prices are down to MSRP. I plan to primarily use the PC for high end 1440p gaming and emulation. I'm seriously considering an immediate upgrade from my 2021 build. Main reasons are for better performance in Battlefield 6 (and kids getting into AAA gaming), VR sim racing and also AI video generation.

I'd like to not worry about gaming performance for a few years, but also enjoy as close to ultra settings as possible for now, and not having to wait so long or timeout on the AI stuff.

The AI stuff isn't a massive use case, but please consider it, and gaming will be at 1440p in 3440 x 1440 monitor, as close to 144fps as possible. For VR I'm just looking for increased performance in general.

Hi, this is a bit of an odd request. In essence, I'd like to build a 1440p high end PC for gaming, however with the 50 series refresh coming some time next year, I don't want to buy a high end GPU just yet. My plan is to get something like a 5060ti and keep it for 6 months or so until I can get a 5070ti SUPER/5080 SUPER.

Now the question is why not just wait with building until then? Because I had to sell my PC 2 years ago, I really miss PC gaming, and I want to get back into it ASAP. I have a Steam Deck, but it's really not cutting it as a main gaming device. So I want to make a 5080 SUPER-ready build, except I'll be playing on a 5060ti until it comes out.

This will be my first PC - I got a SteamDeck OLED a few years ago and absolutely love it. I play single player Indy and AAA games but running into issues where some games perform badly. I also would like to have good native visual quality as I hooked up the deck to a 77" OLED 4ktv and even Indy games running at 1080p with VRR run at 60fps but just visually looks off to me. I need a new PC because I just can't force ESUs, even though I am in Europe :/ Yesterday I bought a Ryzen 7600X for 145€ and now I need a mainboard and RAM for it. I will primarily use the PC for light photo editing (Adobe so far), maybe a little gaming (Anno) and video editing.

I have forever debated between Intel (QuickSync, lower idle power consumption) and AMD CPU. Now that I've ordered the Ryzen 7600X, I only need a MB, RAM and cooler and I'm thinking of the following:

Mainboard: decent enough quality so that it can take a stronger CPU later; WiFi; enough SATA ports for HDDs and Blu-ray drive, maybe 6?

RAM: 2 x 16 GB DDR5-6000, CL30 or CL36. No need for RGB.

CPU cooler: Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit Scythe Mugen 6 Arctic Freezer 36 Cryorig C5

Hi. I know laptops aren’t the best for gaming but I’ve been rocking one for a while now and it’s starting to show its age. Gets pretty hot compared to what it used to. I like it for the portability but I’m thinking I could probably get a desktop and hook it up to my tv and use the laptop for other places until it kicks the bucket. I’m streaming again and I feel like it lags sometimes so I want to upgrade to better support streaming on twitch and gaming as well. I mainly play cozy games like wytchwood, palia, and tiny bookshop but I also play games like dead by daylight, the Witcher, and horizon zero Dawn. I do also want to get into video editing eventually. hello never thought I would get reddit but here i am, wow a lot of rules xd! well first I want to point out that i got scared moving my pc from downstairs to upstairs bc i didnt want to mess up the wires (and i did) so i have never touched a pc like this before. but i my prebuilt i got around 2017? and she doesnt even want to run minecraft anymore. I literally can only play and have minecraft downloaded. i know its also my fault bc shes had the same storage she came with from 2017(yeah yeah terrible idrc) but i didnt need anything more back then and now! obviously i do now lol. but i am just selling her bc its not worth the hassle to me to tear and salvage parts. i am tellling reddit now! i wont be getting everything all at once! i know i need a lot of funds for a good pc and i will eventually have it... over time! lol i am prepping to move in a yearish and want the best i can get. Hello all. Basically zero experience with pc assembly, but I’m sure I can get it set up alone. I need help with selecting components. Currently I have a used pc I purchased for 500$ that had a 3070ti, i7 10700k 3.8, gigabyte z590 and 32gb of ddr4. However, I feel that it’s not better than my PS5 as far as smoothness and graphics on Fortnite. On high/medium settings I’m only getting about 110 fps. On low settings I have very smooth gameplay, but my wish is to get solid 160fps on epic settings. Therefore, I plan to sell my used pc and purchase a new build.
