Games Like CDDA
[Help Wanted]
I'm looking for games like Cdda super fun and that have complex systems. Of course, there are the obvious one's Dwarf fortress and UnReal world. If your suggestions are free games that's even better because of work and quarantine. Thanks so much, I would love to see with what you come up with :)

Caves of Qud

this game looks great it definitely gonna look into it. Thanks you
RimWorld - NEO Scavenger - Kenshi
All fantastic games, but I don't think Neoscav or Kenshi are on the same level as CDDA. Rimworld, yeah kinda. More than anything else anyway.
CDDA is on a transcendent level along with Dwarf Fortress.
Hey hey people.
Kenshi looks so damn cool it definitely wanna pick that up. Rimworld is the best i have to many hours in that game. I will look into Neo Scavenger. Thanks a lot
Missing some comas there
Yeah, I wrote 1 item / line, but everything was back on the first when posting reply
Roguelikes that I was playing when i found dda:
- Angband (the original one, i could never get into its other clones like Zangband)
- Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
- Caves of Qud
- Cogmind
- Abandon Ship
- Pixel Piracy
- Darkest Dungeon
- FTL: Faster Than Light
- Into the Breach
- Magicite (had network errors a lot when playing multiplayer, the last time i played it)
- Hammerwatch
- Don't Starve
Other games I play that are pretty complex, most are 4x:
- Minecraft, with the Gregtech New Horizons modpack
- Aurora 4x (there are lots of problems with this game so i couldn't stick with it for long)
- Space Empires V (an old game but a hidden gem)
- Star Ruler (the first one, not the second one)
- Stellaris
Good list i really liked Space Empires. I think if i looked at hours played Space Empires IV would be my all time highest. V was good but just didn't quite feel "finished" even with the mods. I would very much like to see malfador machinations brought back to life but i suspect thats a pipe dream, in the meantime stellaris is close but just lacks the enjoyment of picking targets for your baseship with its multiple wave motion guns...
I definitely see where you're coming from. However when i got V, i got it in a combo pack with IV as well. Originally I only played III demo when i was a kid, i don't even remember how i got that demo.
r/SS13 if you are OK with multiplayer
Edit: also Clonk: Rage. Nothing like CDDA, but free and easy to start.
Unreal world is kinda similar in the deep survival simulation but is less combat focused. It's more about acquiring food and better tools and exploring and that task is much more arduous in URW than in cdda
Space station 13...
it has the same depth but different feeling, but fun nonetheless.
Aurora 4x
nothing like CDDA though. If you're looking for an action roguelike, playing space spreadsheets where you spend the first 10 hours perfecting your ship design spreadsheets (and now land vehicle design spreadsheets) won't do anything for you.
Falcon BMS
Space Haven is fun but still lacks CDDA's addictive lure. Games like that are worth getting early in development while they are cheap. Slightly different but Barotrauma is now very playable as a solo campaign too.
Elona, if you can stomach the weebery, but it's also a semi sandbox (it technically has a final goal) but it doesn't really have permadeath and you can even make children...in various ways.
Fun game. Grindy tho. But fun.
Edit: Added a link to a Sseth review after re-realizing he did one years ago.
It's not a roguelike, but Noita has permadeath, as well as a procedurally generated map. It's wand crafting system is incredibly deep and complex with some really amazing variations you can do. Hundreds of spells and perks. And when you die its so easy to say "one more run".
Nearly Dead.
This is the best compliment ever for my approach to modding.
Project Zomboid is totaly diferent but kinda similar
Nethack and it clones. More combat based. Also google for roguelike, but recently any low graphics game called roguelike. Sign of "true" roguelike is ASCI version.
Oxygen not included for complex plumbing / pressure / temperature system. X4 Foundations for fully simulated economy. Factorio for building factories that build factories and shit.
Yeah, I have been interested in Oxygen not included for awhile it looks like a good time.X4 Foundations looks awesome I definitely want to look at that game. I have had Factiro since early access and that a great game with its progression and stuff. Thanks for the great suggestions:)
Honestly I quite enjoy neo scavenger as it's got the same kinda risk vs reward kinda deal I love in CDDA. It also has the same kinda charm I love such as beating something to death then being like "oh sweet a jacket" and wearing it around as it's something you needed or it just looks cool
