Summary[]

This is a daily mini game with tasks similar to the VS events where you complete a set of tasks, gain points, and unlock different tiers of rewards. As you are playing against other players, there exists a leaderboard and depending on where you place by reset, you get different tiers of bonuses.

Every 4 hours starting at reset time, the tasks change between...

  • Hero Initiative - Boost your hero's XP to get point, or use recruitment tickets. Note: This is different from the VS event. Only EXP counts here.
  • Shelter Upgrade - Upgrade your shelter and consume construction speedups to get points.
  • Army Expansion - Build more troops and consume training speedups to get points
  • Age of Science - Do research and consume research speedups to get points.
  • Mod Vehicle Boost - Upgrade your vehicle using wrenches/blueprints or kill Busters/Zombie Creeps to get points

For each set of tasks, you can unlock up to 3 task chests, and each day, you can unlock up to 3 medal chests.

TLDR;[]

It is of your best interest to unlock all Full Prep chests every day. Getting top 3 is just the cherry on top. The easiest way to do this is to unlock all the chests for 3 sets of tasks. The second easiest way is to unlock all three of the chests for 2 sets of tasks, and unlock 2 chests from any other 2 sets of tasks. My picks would be...

  • Hero Initiative - Just consume 24M XP.
  • Mod Vehicle - Do all the boomers necessary to fulfill your Danger Lurking tasks until you're tired. Then top it off with blueprints.
  • Your Pick of the remaining.

Navigating the Interface[]

Schedule[]

This view tells you the order of the next few events. It's good for planning when it's best to perform which task (upgrade shelter, upgrade heros, etc.). Time is based on system time. The rotation of tasks changes every 4 hours.

The highlighted indicates what's currently in play, followed by the next few. In the below image, currently Mod Vehicle Boost is the task, followed by Hero Initiative 4 hours later, followed by Shelter Upgrade, and so on...

Ranking Rewards[]

These are rewards based on where you rank compared to your competitors. They are tallied up at reset. Your current ranking is on the lower right of the screen, but you can also scroll down to see how far you are from the leaders.

Preparedness Chests[]

You unlock these chests by getting Preparedness Medals. These medals come from unlocking the task chests. Note that for each level of task chest you unlock, you get increasingly more medal badges to unlock these, so you do the math. You can get a total of 6 medals per task.

Task List[]

See task categories below. This shows the list of tasks, and the amount of points if you complete any of those tasks.

  • (a) Estimated value of chest. Mostly a useless marketing stat.
  • (b) Time left to perform task before the next task list shows up.
  • (c) Number of points needed to unlock. 1500 for first chest, 4000 for second, and 12000 for third.
  • (d) The list of tasks.
  • (e) The points for completing the corresponding task.
  • (f) Total cumulative points
  • (g) The current number of merits you have.

Ranking List[]

Besides your current place, the highlighted portion shows your total cumulative points for the current full prep event.

Tips To Opening All Merit Chests[]

As mentioned in the TLDR; section above, you want all the rewards of the daily task every day if you can. The rewards are worth it. If you're struggling to open all the chests, or feel like you're running low on speedups, below are some tips to help you be more efficient. Get ready because now you're getting into the weeds. It looks like a lot, but this thought process will become second nature when you do this a couple of times.

  • Hero Initiative and Mod Vehicle Boost are almost freebies if you play this game moderately
  • Again, it's easiest to focus on at most 3 of the tasks and unlock all 3 task chests. However, as I have been leveling, this has been harder and harder to do given how long some of the upgrades take and and limited speedups.
    • You can unlock 2 of 3 chests for 2 different sets of tasks. This gets you just as far in terms of merits, but is much cheaper. I'll explain. If you look at the "Hero Initiative" segment used above, it takes 4,000 points to get to 2 chests, but to get from 2 to 3 chests, you need 8000 points. This is twice as expensive to get to two chests and this is the case for ALL tasks. Getting from the second chest to third chest is a lot more expensive. Thus, if you find yourself low on resources for one set of tasks, you can unlock 2 task chests for two different tasks to get the same number of merit points.
  • Use Golden hour whenever you can. This is when Alliance Duel and Full Prep have the same tasks for that 4 hour window. This overlap happens once a day possibly twice. You can get points in both Full Prep and Alliance Duel when you time this correctly.
  • If you're using speedups for things like construction, wait until some number of people have helped you in said construction before using the speedup. This will save on speedups.
  • If you're using speedups for things like training troops and you know your point totals will add up to the target chest in the end, be patient, you can wait until the very last minutes before the task flips before using speedups to save on those speedups. This allows you to keep more speedups for the following days worth of tasks.
  • It's tempting to use all your builders to build the super expensive things like training camps, HQ, all the time. However, this locks up your builders which can be problematic. At higher levels, these constructions can take days which is a whole lot of speedups. This makes it difficult to get points for Structure Power as well and leaving you only to rely on speedups for points.
    • Assuming you have two builders, one strategy is to only use one primary builder for these expensive things, and use the secondary builder for the cheaper things. Remember, you get points for speedups consumed, but ALSO for the amount of power up that building gets, meaning speeding up without completion won't get you those points.
    • Upgrade your low level farms during this period. This is much cheaper, takes less time, fewer speedups, and you still get Structure Power points.
  • I know it's hard, but planning ahead really helps here. Pick 3-4 of the tasks to complete depending on your chosen strategy. Look at the calendar to see which ones you want to focus on and remember the goal is to unlock as many chests to get at least those 2 orange fragments. Chasing top spot is. just a bonus if you're close.
  • Every day, the task that is at the beginning of reset and the task just before the following speed up are the same. This will change from day to day. For some cases like Hero Initiative, this is a freebee. DON'T WASTE ALL YOUR POINTS ON THE FIRST SET. If you have excess, or know you'll have excess, save what's leftover for the second set.
  • If you're really penny pinching, do the math. I'll be adding some math sections below under the task list section.
  • Point requirements to unlock task chests increase as you increase your shelter level increases. If you find yourself completing them a lot, but just barely, and you are F2P, you may want to consider slowing down a bit and not upgrading your HQ until later. You really are unlocking these chests for the orange fragments so until you've gotten to a critical point with your heroes, holding back on HQ upgrades will allow you to unlock all chests more frequently.

How do you know what to do?[]

Looking at the above example for hero initiative, the important part to look at are the sections highlighted in dark blue and teal. The point breakdown is as follows

  • Performing 1 recruit gives you 400 points
  • Every 2000 exp consumed = 1 point.

Note that there are some special cases, such as the Army Expansion. In the case of these, the points is counted PER unit created. When training, you don't usually just train one unit, but 30-40 of them, so you would multiply the points received by that number of units. See Army Expansion section for details if you're interested.

"Some Math" sections have been added if you want to hyper optimize the usage of your speedups and training. Remember, unless you have deep pockets or even if you have deep pockets and you want your $$ to go that much further, you want to use as little as possible to get as much as possible. Anything more, and you're either gunning for top spot of the day, you just don't care and would like to level up faster period, or you haven't looked into it that deeply yet in which case, this is the section for you.

Some Math...

So how did we get these numbers in the above table? You need 12,000 points to unlock 3 chests. (Ignoring diamond purchases)

  • If you're only doing prime recruits, you'll need to consume 12,000/400 = 30 prime recruit tickets to get to that amount
  • If you're only doing XP, XP Consumed / 2000 * 1 = 12,000, which means that XP Consumed = 12,000 * 2000 = 24M.
  • Otherwise, it's somewhere in between and the formula becomes (400 * # prime recruitment tickets) + (1 * XP Consumed / 2000) = 12000
    • Substitute the number of tickets you spent to get the other, and or vice versa.

Mod Vehicle Boost[]

Notes

  • When doing boomers, level 1/2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 give you the same number of points. If you can't find a level 8, you can find level 7 and it still gets you the same amount of points.
  • If you only do Lvl 1 Boomers, it will take you 15 attempts to unlock 3 chests. If you're doing Lvl 10 boomers, it will take you 12 attempts. The difference is about 50 gas which is not insignificant.

The Frugal Mindset[]

For F2P players, thinking like this is really important to save on unnecessarily consuming items and speedups. This allows you to use speedups at critical times, such as the middle of battle to train troops, or just carrying over to the following day so you can unlock all 3 Medal Chests. Remember that's always the number 1 daily priority since the rewards are worth it.

The Art of the Snipe[]

So you find yourself in a situation where you're first place, unlocked all merit chests, and it's the last round of tasks before reset with about 3 hours to go. Don't celebrate too soon. It's still anyones game. You don't want to waste any unnecessary items and you don't want to show your hand too early. Someone could shoot past you in which case going for first is no longer worth it and now you're left chasing something using too many items all for potentially winning an additional orange fragment. This is not worth the chase.



Low and behold, 25 minutes left, and someone has just barely scraped by you. Uh oh. Better start emptying the tank to show them who's boss. Nope. We wait. Don't even do any of these tasks that might show your opponent that you're active. You don't want to prematurely inflate the necessary number of points or even let them know that you're trying to go for the win.

However, we can start doing some homework and figure out what task we want to tackle. To take the lead, we need a minimum of (139,586-127,504) = 12082 points. Doing boomers at this stage is not a good idea unless you have no other choice.

  1. You'll need 6 lvl 9/10 boomers just to get 12k points and that's not enough to win.
  2. It's too slow as it could take you minutes just to get enough boomers
  3. Gas is quite scarce in this game. You would need to do minimum 7 boomers or consume 112 (7*16) gas just to surpass 12k points to nab first place.

Instead, I opted for blueprints (since I ran out of wrenches). This is why I always have a huge stockpile of 50k+ blueprints. The nice thing of upgrading your vehicle is that

  1. It's a permanent buff,
  2. You'll be doing in the future anyway.
  3. They are really easy to come by even if you do play the game moderately.

How many do we need? 12082 / 4 = 3020 blueprints give or take a few. At my current upgrade level requiring 650 blueprints per upgrade, that's (3020/650) = 4.6 upgrades rounded up to 5 upgrades.

Keep track of the current points of first place (139,586) as this can change at any minute and we may need to recalculate or re-evaluate whether or not it's worth it. Last minute sprinting is a thing (as this section clearly demonstrates).




37 seconds to go. Point scores have not changed so we're still on for 5 upgrades! Furthermore, we left first place no indicator that we are online and gunning for first.



With 10 seconds left, we perform 5 vehicle upgrades. We catch the opponent off guard and we win but just barely. It doesn't matter if we win by 1 point, or a million points. A win is a win. Note: This might not always win. There can be several snipers playing so if you lose, you lose. This time though, we came out victorious spending only a mere 3k blueprints for an orange fragment.


Use Just Enough Speedups[]

Oh boy oh boy, you get to finally use speedups to speed up your Lead Battery research which still has 20 hours remaining so you can produce more electricity at a faster rate. What an important upgrade! 🙄. Now's the time to do it because it's Age of Science Full Prep, right? You're about to spend 20 hours of speedups to finish the job when....

STOP RIGHT THERE. Go for a walk and come back when you've calmed down.

Lets see what we know.

  • We currently have 15 merit badges meaning we only need 3 merit badges to unlock the last chest at 18 merit badges.
    • You only need to unlock 2 task chests to fulfill the daily requirements to unlock the final merit chest, (chest 1 = 1 merit badge. chest 2 = 2 merit badges)
    • You need at least 8000 points to unlock chest 2.
  • You're far behind the leader in terms of points.
  • There is about 2:49 hours left before the task switches.

What should you do?

  1. Lets see how the task breakdown helps us. If I only did speedups, each minute of speedup is 10 points. 8000/10 = 800 minutes of speedups = 13.33 hours.
  2. Does it matter if I do it now or do it later? Not really. 13 hours isn't going to finish the research job for me even if I wait another 2 hours 49. minutes. I would have to spend it regardless to get the 8,000 points.
  3. Should I gun for first place? Not really, i'm really far behind. 8000 points isn't going to put a dent on that.

You should spend the 13.33 hours (I spent 13.5 hours but close enough...) of speedup right now. Get exactly 8100 points to unlock the first 2 chests. And the result?

You're welcome! I just saved you almost 7 hours of speed-ups for tomorrows daily task. Why does all this matter? Every speedup matters if you're F2P. You want these rewards everyday so you want to stockpile when you can. The research will finish itself eventually and it's SOOOO rewarding when you finally get that Lead Battery...

Basic Advice and Frugal Strategies[]

If you are F2P (free 2 play) or even if you want to optimize your gameplay, the name of the game is patience and you want to use as few items as needed to get to the desired reward level. Any more and you're just wasting efforts unless you are gunning for the daily top 3 spot, in which case, you should still try and consume the fewest items to get the desired results. Below are some strategies that can help you.

  • You should always attempt to open all the merit chests. The easiest way to open 3 merit chests is to open ALL the chests for 3 tasks. For me, the easiest are the following:
    • Hero Initiative - EXP is super easy to come by. Spending ~30M exp is almost enough to open all 3 task chests.
    • Mod Vehicle Boost - You gotta do boomers anyway for the Danger Lurks Minigame. Might as well do it during this period. That gets you a big chunk. of the way there.
    • Pick one other one to focus on.
  • Remember, since many of these tasks align with one of the VS events, you want to make sure to also save enough speedups to use to help the alliance out win the VS events.
  • Sometimes, there is an overlap with Full Prep and VS events this is a great way to knock out two birds with one stone. This is AKA Golden Hour.
    • Eg. if VS event today is Shelter Upgrade, it's a good time to wait for the Shelter Upgrade Full Prep task to use your construction speed ups so you get points for both events.
    • On some lucky days, Golden Hour happens twice! You can check the calendar. When this happens, you can split it up such that you unlock 3 chests at reset, and 3 chests just before reset the following day. Plan ahead!
  • Look at the calendar. Plan ahead. It is tempting to just dump EXP now because you have a lot, but if you wait just an hour, you can benefit from opening the Hero Upgrade task chests as well.
    • On this note, unless you are an insomniac, it may not be reasonable to get one of these tasks. Plan ahead.
  • If you pay attention to the calendar, the task at reset will be the same as the task just before the following day's reset. This allows you to double down on one objective such as Hero Initiative (again, really easy to fulfill).
  • If you can get to top 3, get to top 3. Otherwise, your placement doesn't matter that much. Blueprints are alright, but not that difficult to get an abundance of in the game.

Notes[]

  • Don't be fooled. Though there is a progress bar, it is highly deceiving and non-linear meaning going from one chest to the next requires increasingly more.

Advanced Frugal Strategies[]

Nerd talk here....

  • If you are gunning for a top 3 position, be careful around reset. Sometimes, players will wait till the last 5 minutes till reset to surge past you.
  • There is no benefit to winning your opponents by a lot. Winning by 100k points and 10k points is still a win and one takes significantly fewer resources that can be used for the following day.
  • Just because you unlock 3 chests DOES NOT mean you stop getting points. If you're gunning for first and you have a lot of one type of speed up/resource (say you have an abundance of XP), you can dump more to get further in the lead.
