>Soul Eater (I just started watching it myself, really cool art style but good lord the writing, or maybe translation, has characters repeat the same things over and over…)
>Kanon (Kyoani when they weren't complete crap, haven't gotten around to watching Clannad yet myself)
>Great Teacher Onizuka
>Amagami SS (based off of ps2 visual novel, so every 4 episodes the timeline resets, has some cuties and is pretty inoffensive)
>Koi Kaze
>Spice and Wolf (if you like economics, pretty tame stuff imo)
>Haruhi Suzumiya (beware of the crazy 8s arc)
>Familiar of Zero (imagine Harry Potter but less raisin)
>I'm going to recommend some shows slightly outside the timeframe now, but they really scratch my itch.
>Hunter X Hunter (actually my first anime so I might be biased)
>Mysterious Girlfriend X (my favourite anime, though not exactly everyone's… cup of tea)
Mysterious Gem

>>95791>>95790>>95788>>95789why is the sound design so good in all of these
▶ №96411[Quote]
>>96311I know you mean the sound design during production (and indeed the movie has very good sound design), but – as I made the webms – I should point out the source used was
https://nya.iss.one/view/1964005 (a BD remux) and its English and Japanese audio tracks are both 5.1 Surround, and it was easier to mix the 6 channels into a single Mono channel than into a truly proper Stereo track. So the webms are Mono. Thus the actual movie – whether in Stereo or 5.1 – sounds different than the webms do, and "sounds different" not just due to having Left & Right audio separation but because downmixing to Mono tends to create a sound that's more focused with a tighter or stronger low-mid range; downmixing to Mono doesn't merely make it 1 channel but alters the sound in some ways.
By the way I tweaked the image slightly with regards to its brightness and darkness, so the "SIUUU" BD Remux source looks worse in that regard than the webms. While such tweaks are partly subjective, that BD objectively speaking is a rather flat transfer from the film tape source; they definitely could've put in a massive amount of work correcting the colors in many scenes; for instance in the bar webm see 15s vs 35s; the same painting at 35s has less color and brightness – btw the roof lamp at 15s seems like it has crushed bright details; that's not due to me; looks just as crushed in source – and in the lake webm check 1:06 vs 1:08; as she turns the water gets brighter (a similar sudden brightness change occurs at the spooky face at ~24s in the Barbaroi webm and as D enters through the gate). The movie has many such strange problems. But it's understandable they didn't bother fixing them, as it would be an insanely time consuming and delicate process. But anyway that BD is vastly better-looking than all previous BDs and DVDs. And if you don't want the BD Remux because of its filesize, you can download this
https://nya.iss.one/view/1964449 release instead which is half the size and looks nearly identical – here's a comparison where "JPN Avex Pictures" is the BD Remux and "ZoroSenpai" is the halfsized one:
