More people in Asia like it. It's made less than BALLERINA made over here. Asians liking Anime isn't exactly the gamechanger that YouTubers are making it out to be.

True enough, but it is biggest box office anime release in the us ever (surpassing pokemon the movie at its height) which, while no indicator of quality in and of itself, does indicate that it has relatively broad reach and popularity for the niche it occupies.

Anime was already big outside of the US since AT LEAST the late 70's. Heck, everyone can tell you that here in Latin America Dragon Ball is basically a religion.

The generation immediately following yours is exceptionally into anime. To the point that really popular anime movies are making insane amounts of money. They have been since Pokemon the Movie and the Studio Ghibli films in the late 90s early 00s

I adore anime. I grew up watching Ghibli instead of Disney, so I was kinda primed. Watch Fullmetal Alchemist, you’ll be surprised at what is achievable in this medium.

Green Hornet was big in Hong Kong. Things can bug more appreciated away from home.
the west has always had a fascination with china, japan and korea. eastern stuff is currently riding a tidal wave of popularity. who knows why. its very cutesy. k-pop, k-drama, boy bands, anime, whatever they put out, americans devour. i dont get it, but im old so my opinion doesn't matter. haha.
When it comes to this stuff I am the literal normie of normies. I have heard of this one and Bezerk. One of the grandkids was reciting the big three (in anime). This anime stuff from the east is entering the pop culture awareness in the west.
