The DNC needs to stop using "p**nstar" as a punchline. It's cheap, it's punching down, it's respectability politics at the expense of a community already dealing with harassment, discrimination and disrespect Her willingness to come forward is how you got those damn convictions.

I know a lot of you feel hopeless right now, but I watching this unfold, I want to contextualize a few things about the battle ahead. #1 Exodus Cry and NCOSE are scrambling: 95% of coverage about OnlyFans supports SWers. They didn't expect this, and now want to shift blame. 1/

You may think these bills don’t affect you due to their alleged targets. But underneath the moral panic, these bills are really about locking down the internet, ending anonymity online, increasing surveillance and limiting access to educational, legal and medical resources. x.com/CatieOsaurus/s

A lot of people are going to be watching "Money Shot" tonight. Many of the claims in the doc — especially those from the evangelical #traffickinghub campaign — are confusing or deceitful. If you're not familiar with the industry, here's what you need to know: 1/

Pornography is a billion dollar industry that accounts for 35% of all internet traffic — but who protects the people they profit off? Money Shot: The Pornhub Story is now on Netflix

Age verification has always been a Trojan horse. Colossally ineffective at what it proposes to do (keep kids from accessing adult content), frighteningly effective at what it says it won’t do (surveil adults, censor speech, punish queers).

Age verification is gearing up to be like SESTA/FOSTA. A bill that claims to save children that never fulfills its purpose but oversteps into everyone's privacy rights and deplatforms countless women, 2SLGBTQ folks and sex workers.
Absolutely stunning investigation by NPR into the racist, antisemitic, misogynist roots of “porn addiction” junk science — the very stuff being peddled by antipoorn groups in order to pass age-verification bills and other censorship. It’s all nonsense.

So be proud. This is work YOU did. MasterCard and the antis are on their backheels, at least temporarily. It's our job to keep them there. It won't stop OnlyFans, but it will delay future attacks (and give us all time to regroup for the next fight). Here's how:

This is largely due to the efforts of SWers who, for the last 9 months, have made sure journalists knew who these groups really were. In Dec, most articles ran quotes with no context or qualifiers. Here, journalists are speaking almost exclusively with SWers. 4/

One last point: only sex workers could have done this! Not studios, not OnlyFans, not me. Nobody cares about a billion dollar company. But they do care about every day people fighting to survive — and thrive — in a harsh world. Never forget how powerful you are.

This is markedly different than the Pornhub coverage in the fall, which repeated the Kristof misinformation about widespread illegal content. This time, with a few notable exceptions, the voices of Exodus Cry and NCOSE are excluded from the conversation. 3/

1. Post about what this is costing you! The money you're losing. If you're skittish about $$$ figures, talk about your concerns: the house payments, rent, food, the percentage of your income lost. This is powerful, visceral stuff. 8/
🚨Trump’s new VP, JD Vance, has called for banning po*nography outright. Making it illegal to sell, distribute, own, watch. In other words, radical government surveillance of the internet. P*rn is the canary in the coal mine of free speech and needs to be defended as such.

We’ve been screaming from the top of our lungs: the antiporn age-verification laws are part of this project. Block “porn” while simultaneously refining everything LGBTQ+ and reproductive health as porn. And yet, sex workers and adult businesses are largely fighting them alone.

Right wing thinkers are circulating a chilling 920 page blueprint for the next President to declare the mere existence of trans people pornographic. These are not cranks, this is the Republican policy establishment.

That's why, over the past day or so, Exodus Cry has tried to quickly turn the conversation to Twitter and Pornhub, where they feel on more solid ground. NCOSE is bragging about a supposedly "groundbreaking" lawsuit (where 12 of their 13 claims were dismissed). 5/

3. Showcase/screenshot/doc the actual verification process. I can't stress this enough. Obvs don't give away personal info, but one of their main claims is that nothing was ever verified. Prove them liars on this, it discredits the rest of their argument. 10/

Most of all, understand that despite the panic, you are NOT powerless! Defeat not inevitable. Antis ultimately LOST each of their previous Wars on Sex (in the 70s, 80s & 90s). They had a victory, but I think it may sow the seeds of their eventual defeat. /14

5. Keep it going over the next few months. Talk about your difficulties. Talk about your lost subscribers and income. Do not let people forget that this is happening. Make it an ongoing story. /13
It’s not just abortion, trans healthcare or porn. One of the most influential conservative groups in the country is now calling for the government to “end recreational sex”

Told ya. Heritage is the lead organizer of Project 25. They want the next Republican president to give them control over approving and withdrawing approval of drugs. They are coming for birth control via the FDA, regardless of the courts. 1/
“Porn” is a public good. “Porn” is a sign of a healthy, open society. “Porn” is record of the diversity of sexual expression. “Porn” brings people joy, access to parts of themselves that they may not have another way to express. It’s worth defending on its own.
Faith-based "anti-trafficking" group NCOSE says that banning porn is more important than actually stopping child sex trafficking. These are the people pushing for EARN IT, KOSA and age-verification laws. "Protecting children" was always a front for widespread sex censorship.

NCOSE argued that removing porn from the Internet is *more important than child trafficking*. These latest claims are just new spin, not real.

This is the creeping religious censorship we have been warning about. Groups like claim that they are only concerned about exploitation and trafficking. In practice, even the *mention* of sexuality has to be squashed. They're coming for Amazon next.

Parents can sue creators or fans who post adult content to Twitter and Reddit, say legislators behind Alaska's AB254 age-verification law, arguing a child might see it. They exempt Twitter itself from liability as well as "some Joe from Russia" who they'll never catch.
Banks and credit cards are becoming the ultimate arbiters of commerce and speech— superseding even state governments. If the federal government doesn’t act soon to limit their power, it will be financial institutions and corporate boards determining what is de facto legal and not

This is, of course, the dream of the faith based "anti-trafficking" folks (and SWERFs) who believe that no true consent can exist for sex work when money is involved. It would essentially codify their white slavery panic into law.
Doesn't matter how much money you have, or what part of the industry you're in. CEO lost her bank account following her move from private equity partner to OF CEO. Banking discrimination is happening at all levels, with no recourse. It has to stop.
