Bermuda has seen 3 – three more MURDERS BY GUN in just over a month!! A total of 5 Murders by Firearms – two of which were DOUBLE MURDERS.

MURDER INVESTIGATION UPDATE.

At approximately 4:45 PM on Tuesday, September 16th, 2025, a lone gunman entered a Beauty Monster, beauty supply shop on the corner of Court and Dundonald Street Pembroke and shot a female victim inside the premises.

Emergency services were on scene quickly, and first responders made every effort to save her life. She was transported to hospital, but tragically, succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

The victim, 37 year old , Ms Janae Minors, was a mother of 2, ages 16 and 18. She’s been described as a hard worker with a vibrant, beautiful personality. It is extremely tragic and heart breaking that she has lost her life in this manner.

Detectives from the serious crime unit are actively pursuing all leads, and we are working to identify and locate the individual responsible.

What we know thus far is that the suspect rode along Court Street, parked a black motorcycle and then walked into the Beauty Monster store, which the victim owned, and shot her multiple times. This appears to have been a targeted attack.

The suspect then ran back to the motorcycle and left the area travelling north on Court Street, down Tills Hill towards TCD, and then made a left turn towards Marsh Folly Road.

The suspect is described as thin build, wearing a black jacket, black helmet with a full face visor, grey pants and bright coloured gloves, and appears to be tall, based on CCTV footage.

The cycle used in the attack is confirmed to be a stolen vehicle and we are pursuing that line of enquiry.

We are asking anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident, particularly between 4:30 and 5:15 PM on September 16th, to come forward.

Court Street is a busy area with people visiting shops and restaurants, people leaving work or driving through the area. Any information, no matter how minor it may seem, could be vital to this investigation.

We are also encouraging local residents and businesses with CCTV, dashcams, or doorbell footage to check their recordings from Tuesday afternoon and contact us if they see anything unusual.

To the family and loved ones of Ms Minors, our hearts are with you during this very difficult time. We are committed to seeking justice on your behalf.

Anyone with information about this tragic incident can contact the serious crime department at 247-1739. I am the senior investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Derricka Burns, and I can be contacted at 7170921 or atdburns@bps.bm. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers at 800-8477 or you can pass on information to an officer you may know.

May her soul rest in perfect peace🙏

Update: The live broadcast has concluded and the replay is below

Update 3pm: Acting Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels’ remarks:

Good afternoon, members of the media,

Before Acting Superintendent Jason Smith provides an investigative update on yesterday afternoon’s tragic firearms incident, I wish to offer a few words.

First and foremost, I extend my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of:

  • 18-year-old Nakai Robinson, and
  • 23-year-old Natrae Eversley

Both young men were senselessly shot and killed around 4:40 PM yesterday, while on Court Street near the junction with Dundonald Street in the City of Hamilton.

A third man, aged 24, also sustained a gunshot wound. Fortunately, he is expected to make a full recovery.

This marks the fourth murder of 2025 (with the female who was murdered above being the 5th). involving a firearm, and a (staggering) 21 firearm-related murders since January 2020.

These were two young men—callously gunned down in the prime of their lives—as they spent time in a community space. Their tragic deaths have left many family members, friends, and neighbours grieving.

Bermuda is currently facing a deeply troubling period, having experienced four sudden deaths in the past week alone. This wave of violence is especially concerning, as it comes at a time when our island should be drawing together, not pulling apart.

In keeping with our mission of Making Bermuda Safer, the Bermuda Police Service has developed an operational response plan, centred around three key priorities:

  1. Targeting individuals most likely to commit violent acts,
  2. Conduct a quality focused investigation to identify and apprehend the shooter in this matter while
  3. Providing community reassurance through highly visible policing.

We are aware that some in the community may feel that police actions are too often reactive rather than proactive. While no police service can be everywhere at all times, I want to assure the public that the BPS has placed a strong focus on deploying officers in areas where the highest risk/threat is likely to be

In recent years, our proactive efforts have yielded significant results, including the seizure of 17 operational firearms since January 2023—10 of those last year alone, and 2 so far this year.

We remain committed to identifying and dismantling the criminal groups responsible for this violence. But this is not a task the police can accomplish alone.

It is everyone’s responsibility to help make Bermuda a safer place to live, work, and visit.

To believe that this kind of violence cannot or will not touch you or your loved ones is a risky stance—especially on an island of our size, where a single shooting can devastate entire families, businesses, and neighbourhoods.

Before I hand over to Acting Superintendent Smith, I take this opportunity to thank all of those persons who have already come forward. Your courage is vital to these investigations.

However, I cannot stress enough: If you know something—no matter how small or insignificant it may seem—please come forward and speak with us. Your information could make all the difference.

Thank you.
